John, is that the mid sized model? I am saving for a Langdon P-30, but I am shying away from micro compact models. I carried a Sig p-226 for years with a double/ single trigger, and never imagined any thing I would like better? It’s the standard size. the other two options are the L or the SK, but I prefer the 4” personally. John, can you talk about what's different between when you're just shooting that normally and when you're trying to sight it in and slow-firing it? The recoil and muzzle flip looks almost unmanageable sighting it in and I know it's not.
Man I apologize for not responding to your comment earlier! When sighting I am working on MAXIMUM accuracy and so I ease up on the gun. I am shooting individual shots, not a string, and so focusing on stillness and trigger feel. So I under-grip the gun to maximize those. That makes the gun recoil more, but I am not worried about follow ups at all. I would guess I am only exerting maybe 60 pounds of pressure with each hand during the zero checks. Hope that helps!
I carry a full size gun and the recoil impulse on the 147 standard pressure is very similar to my training ammo and it does well in terminal ballistics.
@@ASPextra I carry a Glock 32 most of the time. I have been carrying Hornady Critical Duty 135 gr but considering changing to the Federal HST Law Enforcement 124 gr. Now I have to look at the 147 gr. 😎😎

Interesting you zero an optic from a standing unsupported position. I always use a drop target at an indoor range, use bags as wrist supports and do 3 round groupings until I have a zero then a few more groups to confirm
For a pistol I think it's fine and makes it faster and easier to do. We're not looking for sub-MOA groups here, just looking for where the optic is printing.
@@ASPextra - Depends how good a shooter you are. You (John) shoot well enough your groups are tight and consistent without support. I shoot so poorly that for now I zero to the irons. Need a bunch more dry fire, though I’m considering switching to ghost connector as my feeble grip is insufficient while breaking current ~6lb trigger. @@ASPextra is gripping the pistol super hard like how you control recoil required to shoot super accurately like long distance or zeroing a dot? Or can I just keep it loose and steady not shaking and still shoot accurately?

It is definitely an expensive opposition, but one gun to shoot and one gun to carry (shoot only occasionally) is a good idea. Pistols are just a simple machine that will wear with use.
Like most equipment pistols often fail from non-use coupled with lack of maintenance. If you are going your route, clean and lube them together every time - though actually your carry gun will need more frequent care due to sweat, lint, impacts and all the other issues carry guns suffer from. My previous IWB developed rust on internals and current seems to collect considerable lint. Heat seems to dry lube rather quickly. I routinely field strip, wipe down and inspect, snake the bore to clear lint, and relive before reassembly. It’s been a week so I’m do again. So I’d say shoot your carry gun. Prove that your maintenance is sufficient. More importantly I feel better cleaning a dirty gun instead of one with just a bit of lint trapped sweat. Depending on how much you shoot, cleaning is likely to wear out the carry gun faster than your practice gun anyway😮
Modern guns will last tens of thousands of rounds with barely any perceptible difference. HKs are very high quality and will keep going. As long as you're not buying a Taurus or some other junker wear is not an issue. If you can afford to put 50,000 rounds through a gun spare parts are basically a rounding error.
Lol that’s funny man… any time I shoot a double action I say that exact same thing because it feels like you have to keep pressing keep pressing keep pressing keep pressing… and its particularly why I don’t carry double actions for self defense. I’ll shoot them all day but I’ll never carry one 😂
