These guys were part of the "alternative" wave that lumped in with grunge (Seattle sound) but was from Chicago. grunge-esque. Very popular group for about 7-10 years and very talented.
The very first time the local radio station played this song back in the day near me, the DJ busted in at the end and said that was so awesome we're gonna hear it again and he immediately hit play a second time. I loved that!
The mighty Smashing Pumpkins will go down as one of the best bands to ever walk. This planet, their vast and diverse catalog can stand with anyone in the history of music.
❤This is my very favorite SP songs.. They were such a cool band that was kinda in their own lane. Such a fresh hard sound and then there was Billy Corrigan's distictive voice. A great band to see live. So entertaining.
The Smashing Pumpkins were all the rage. Being a drummer I feel compelled to note that their drummer is Jimmy Chamberlin an amazing player. Fun reaction and review 👊🏻
SO MANY great Pumpkins songs (and videos) from those first few albums when the original band was together. And is there any boy alive who wasn’t enchanted by D’Arcy??
To me they are the most prolific band from the era... not en song volume which is obvious... but song quality be it TSP, Zwan, or another Corgan project. But I can understand Billy's voice is not for everyone, an acquired taste
I believe this was directed at their record label contract and feeling trapped. No doubt they were blowing up when this came out but if you want them on the highest RPM's their GISH ep album CRANKS!
Pumpkins forever. Billy is a genius. Polarizing personality for some, but I love the pumpkins. Also, Jimmy Chamberlin on drums? Best drummer of the grunge era hands down.
They are not for everyone but they have talent and Billy Corgan is surely a creative force. Always loved this song, as well as ´Ava Adore ´ for its more hypnotic and edgy sound and beat.
A great song, great album, an occasionally great band. Never quite the same post D’arcy and Jimmy (first time around). There’s some great live versions of this as well. They were a really awesome live act when they were up for it
This is one of my favorite albums of all time. I love to listen to it every few months. It is musical genius, and never gets old or tired. Although all Smashing Pumpkins are solid, and a great listen, this one is their masterpiece-so many great songs, so many genres and styles-all performed to absolute perfection. Porcelina is my absolute favorite track, but all other tracks get an honorable mention. Do your ears and your karma a big favor, and listen to the entire cd. You will be so happy that you did. Just lookin' out. Just to reiterate, all Smasing Pumpkins albums are great listens as well.
Billy Corgan has written some of the most profoundly poetic lyrics I’ve ever heard. To me, he’s like Bob Dylan - not the most appealing singing voice, but unreal lyrics. Billy’s also a very underrated guitarist. I tend to gravitate more to some of their less well-known songs. My favs include: Soma Tristessa The Aeroplane Flies High I Am One Siva Geek U.S.A. Frail and Bedazzled Muzzle Jellybelly Thru the Eyes of Ruby Bleeding the Orchid Having said that, some of their “hits” that are also awesome: Zero Tonight, Tonight Cherub Rock Rocket The Everlasting Gaze Jimmy Chamberlin is an absolute beast on the drums. There’s an awesome recent YT video of him doing a live playthrough of Geek USA: ua-cam.com/video/e_Son3yyryw/v-deo.htmlsi=bMFPMKv03sN3hUuF Cheers!
All due respect to the smashing pumpkins..Was hoping for another Bowie video reaction about now.. Apparently, it's the 41st anniversary of the song Little china Girl That Bowie and Iggy pop Co wrote.
Current owner of the NWA. The National Wrestling Alliance. At one time, the NWA was a VERY powerful organization. Billy does his best but the NWA is just a shadow of what it was. He has literally spent ALL his Pumpkin's money on pro-wrestling and it's really not going anywhere after a decade. It actually peaked 4-5 years ago. That is why he still has to tour, to fund pro-rasslin. lol
I'd be surprised if you haven't heard "Today", "Tonight, Tonight" or "1979". Personally I'd recommend "Mayonaise". 🤘

Love this!!! 😂
Yes, the time when the moderators still had some room for their own decisions to do something unusual. Nowadays people get butthurt way too easy.
Just get to Cherub Rock…..and rock out!
This song and record made me a Pumpkins fan. Back in High School it was hard to find somebody who didn't like this song.
You have to listen to Today or 1979. It will really show their range.
This a rabbit hole nobody on UA-cam goes down. So many incredible songs. And many unique ones that really change up the vibe
So true! Compare this to Disarm and 1979 🤯 Love the variety. The strings on the Mellon Collie & the infinite sadness album 💜
Smashing Pumpkins - 1979
LOUD-quiet-LOUD is a classic music dynamic in alt rock, and it always gets my attention. Listen to some Pixies.
OMG, yes!
Pixies are brilliant!
Mainly a grunge thing.
@@fernandoerbin6751 Hardly. You'd be more accurate saying '90s'.

"Zero" - Short and awesome.

I was like 13 o 14 years old when heard this song, i became a fan of smashing pumpkins. I'll be at their concert next november! ❤

Still gives me goosebumps. I'm partial to Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness, tho🤍

Possibly the only song of theirs I care for. Never was a big fan but I can appreciate their contributions.
Prefer Tonight, Tonight but that's about it
They have many great songs outside of those
To me they are the most prolific band from the era... not en song volume which is obvious... but song quality be it TSP, Zwan, or another Corgan project. But I can understand Billy's voice is not for everyone, an acquired taste
Great choice. I adore bands with singers that have strange quirky voices. You could also try some Modest Mouse or Silversun Pickups.
Love both MM and SSP.
Wow….new names to me…..damn…there are just too many bands to know in a lifetime!
Smashing Pumpkins as such a unique sound! Very good
Mayonaise, Cherub Rock, Disarm, Today and Tonight Tonight are their best songs imo.
Love this and "Zero."
I believe this was directed at their record label contract and feeling trapped. No doubt they were blowing up when this came out but if you want them on the highest RPM's their GISH ep album CRANKS!

Siamese Dream is the best album of the 90s, front to back.
That is a bold statement.
I don't rank it above Radiohead OK Computer because... come on. Lifetime favorite. But, yeah Siamese Dream is right up there for me.
Top 15. The 90's was the decade of the best. No decade compares.
Saw them last year, still just as good almost 30 years later. Great reaction
This song really grows on you… A little hard at first, but it really hits and it gets stuck in your head

🎃Love The Smashing Pumpkins!!! Tonight, Tonight is a beautiful song!!!
BEST ALBUM EVER!
Billy and James made Pupkins perfect
One of the best
Theme song for TV show "Whale Wars"
A great song, great album, an occasionally great band. Never quite the same post D’arcy and Jimmy (first time around).
There’s some great live versions of this as well. They were a really awesome live act when they were up for it
I consider the 90s a rebirth of rock and roll . So many great bands from that time period. Thanks

The song is about Billy’s anger with the music industry.
My favs include:
Soma
Tristessa
The Aeroplane Flies High
I Am One
Siva
Geek U.S.A.
Frail and Bedazzled
Muzzle
Jellybelly
Thru the Eyes of Ruby
Bleeding the Orchid
Having said that, some of their “hits” that are also awesome:
Zero
Tonight, Tonight
Cherub Rock
Rocket
The Everlasting Gaze
Jimmy Chamberlin is an absolute beast on the drums. There’s an awesome recent YT video of him doing a live playthrough of Geek USA:

Salvog, Rush misses you.
Jimmy Chamberlain’s snare should be in the Smithsonian 🔥🔥🔥

AiC, PJ and TSP where my early teens holy triumvirate
Yeah we were edge lords in the 90s...don't forget it. Lol
🦋
Mayonaise.... 😌

You gotta get to SOS by ABBA my man
Check "Mayonaise", 1979 or Geek USA
Please check out Ava Adore! ❤❤

Listen to Zero
Was never a band I warmed to.
Way to go, Jen!! ✊✊😁. (Evelyn here)
Ha! Heeeellllllooo! I almost went for Disarm.
This track is a poor imitation of Cherub Rock.
They were never one of my favs. I just didn't relate
Dan bro, took ya 3 mins, to play the vid, thumbs down
Sorry, I don't like it, bad music.
Well..if YOU don't like it, it simply must be bad music 🙄
So how old are you? And you never heard this song....bullshit!
