Tarikh is a daily program in which we present you with incidents and stories of noteworthy persons of Indian History in Hindi. In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about India- Israel Relations. It took 40 years for India and Israel to develop full diplomatic relations but the foundation of Friendship was laid during 1971 Bangladesh war. In 1971 Israel helped India with Arms and later both countries proposed a joint operation against Pakistan Nuclear Operation.

जिस इस्राइल ने बांग्लादेश को सबसे पहले मान्यता दी ,उसी इस्राइल को बांग्लादेश के द्वारा मान्यता नहीं देने से मुस्लिम देश कि मानसिकता का पता चलता है , कि आप भले ही कितनी भी मदद दें ,लेकिन हम हमारी मानसिकता किसी भी हालत मे नहीं बदलते हैं , हमारे धर्म के प्रति कट्टरपन को नहीं छोङेंगे , जब कि पाकिस्तान से आजाद कराने मे इस्राइल ने भी भारत की मदद कि थी।

In Indian political history, there were two Prime Minsters who hit hard on RAW. First one was Moraraji Desai who idiotically revealed the secret directly to Gen Zia ( President of Pakistan ). Morarji Desai called to Zia on telephone and said ' We know what is going there in Kahuta reactor. Morarji Desai was stupid but not Gen Zia. He destroyed the RAW network and many local agents of RAW were arrested and punished severely . In later years when IK Gujral was PM, he also instructed RAW to wind up the network.
Both of them were undeserving for the post.

Israel-India sympathy and affection is due to the battle of Haifa which was fought before the Independence of India. Three Indian cavalry battalion deployed in the Middle East and tasked to capture Haifa, mounted a successful attack on Haifa with the help of lancers and swords against well armed and fortified enemy soldiers. They liberated Haifa town and harbour from Roman and German forces. Further, British forces supplied the reinforcements in Haifa and opened a new front that liberated the entire area around Jerusalem. This paved way to creation of Israel. Israel-India affection has roots since then. The three battalions were honoured by commemoration of Thri Murti statue in New Delhi.
