Tarikh is a daily program in which we present you with incidents and stories of noteworthy persons of Indian History in Hindi. In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about the Indian Air Force's role in the Kargil war between India and Pakistan in 1999. IAF helped the army recapture Tiger Hill and destroy the Pakistan Supply dump in Muntho Dhalo. Flight Lieutenant Nachiketa was captured during one of the operations. इसी युद्ध के बाद तीनों सेनाओं के ऊपर एक चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ की जरूरत महसूस हुई थी क्युकी तीनो सेनाओं के प्रमुखों की एक राय ना होने के कारण ही कारगिल युद्ध में भारतीय सेना की भारी क्षति हुई थी।। कोई खुद को किसी से कम नहीं समझता था , तभी इस पद का गठन किया गया और जनरल रावत पहले चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ नियुक्त किए गए थे।

The problem with us was an over reliance on the Russian equipment. We had an entire inventory of MiGs with as low as 2 squadrons of MiG 25s. Russia might have politically supported us but fucked us over on the defence front. Subsequent governments be it Congress or BJP never really looked at inventory overhauls. Manmohan singh tried with the initial Rafale deal and the Modi changed the deal massively. 24 years down the line our squadron strength is paltry.
@@ADITYAALOK In the later days of WW2 , Two sections emerged Capitalism & Communism and a large number of nations aligned with USA & USSR. Though India chose non alignment path but western countries under leadership of USA , took it otherwise. On the other hand, Pakistan joined SEATO - SENTO defence agreements which helped to supply modernised , sophisticated weapons, fighter jets etc. But India was refused to get such type of war machinery. So there was no option except USSR . Rafale deal was green signalled during Atal Bihari Vajpeyi's Govt. But Manmohan Govt didn't do anything. NOt a single Rafele was brought in India. During Modi regime, only 36 Rafale bought instead of 126
@@thebittertruth3514 nope. The mmrca tender was floated in 2006. Manmohan singh was the PM. Rafale was shortlisted in 2010 however discusssions were stalled on the ground of technology transfer. 2015, Modi changed the Indian partner from HAL to Ambani and lowered the number of jets to 36 in flyaway condition. We still are 90 jets short after 17 years of the original tender.

बुरा न माने तो बात भारत की सबसे बड़ी गलती रही है की हर बार युद्ध जीतने के नाम पर सिर्फ अपना नुकसान ही किया है, भारत के अलावा और कोई देश युद्ध जीतता तो दुश्मन के उस हिस्से को अपने हाथों में ले लेता। और दुश्मन को डर रहता की युद्ध हारने पर हमारा देश को अपना हिस्से को खोना पड़ेगा।
