At today's final #Ham4Ham Rory O'Malley brought Renée Elise Goldsberry with Alex Lacamoire and the band to perform "Congratulations," a song from #HamiltonPUBLIC that was cut before Broadway!

WHY WAS THIS NOT KEPT IN THE SHOW????? I mean I bet there were really good reasons, but wow..... I bet people would see a 5-hour version of Hamilton if it existed.
I think it just made more sense for Angelica's reaction to be shorter and placed into the Reynolds Pamphlet along with everyone else's. So we could focus on Burn, because that's the most important part of this little arc.
Even though it is such an amazing song (honestly one of my favourites) Lin said it was cut because the audience was eager to her Eliza's reaction and it took them too long to get there with Congratulations. But, yeah, I agree, I would love to see a version of the full show with all of the cut songs!
I definitley think there are some important aspects about Angelica addressed in the song - especially how she literally tells Alex how much she sacrificed to make her sister happy
after the reynolds pamphlet lin decided the audience would want to get right to eliza, seeing as she would be the one most affected. Also the reynolds pamphlet is basically just a lead up for burn, so it makes a better transition than this would have.
