I have watched this interview with Steven Schnetzer more than once and it’s great! I would love if you brought on Steven Schnetzer and Alice Barrett Mitchell interview them at the same time on The Locher Room. I think that would be a great interview. Thank you!
Alan sorry to chime in again but eddie drudiing just posted a, compilation video on his channel of Julie Osborn as Kathleen with a bunch of clips of Stephen in it and some linda Dano Brent Collins too and Nancy frangiione I am amazed too at the budgets soaps had back then for remotes you can even see charles Keating in a clip from his first run as Carl so I thought I would share the link with you Alan. And yes I beat the bush a lot about bad decisions but Stephen is still sorely missed as Cass and daytime in general and honestly I would love to see him do a short stint on y and r just like Colleen zenk is doing right now. But if course I want a aw redo that's reset and remixed on CBS the same way I want the same for as the world turns and guiding light and like I have said Chris goutman should be the ep of aw if that could happen because I think he really understood the show but just got back to aw way too late to turn it around. Anyway here is the link and enjoy the holiday weekend Alan and keep bringing us more you are making a difference. ua-cam.com/video/kCRMkPcHUso/v-deo.htmlsi=X7TIr2BZyhv_4kH2
Great one Alan I got so caught up in the live chat I forget to ask you to get Stephen to talk about Connie Ford who was a bit of a pistol on set as Stephen and Sandra Ferguson recounted on the soapnet 2003 reunion show for which you can watch on chases channel. And I forgot to ask you to get Stephen to talk about Julie osborne who played Kathleen but aw did do things that no soap did like hire Brent Collins as Wallingford and have an actor Who suffered from dwarfism play Wallingford. And that happened when Richard culliton and Gary tomlin were headwriters or the humor of Richard with carolyn the gorrila and her mate Richard and Alan thanks for discussing Chris goutman because he was the one directing the show a lot after Texas got canceled from 1983 up until 1988. And Alan I am going to adress it since Paul Rauch came up I think when Bob Calhoun retired from guiding light in 1991 Micheal liabson should have moved from another world over to guiding light because he would have Been in good hands with Stephen and Nancy demorest. And Paul Rauch should have been brought back as ep while Jill faren Phelps returned to Santa Barbara as ep under the dobsons VS Paul Rauch going to Santa Barbara. As Paul Rauch would have cracked the whip at aw with Donna, swajeski as headwriter sure he would have honored her contract but I think he would have talked harding Lemay into coming back again or arranged to have had Doug Marland come abourd as a, story consultant. And then came up with a course correction plan for things like the Jake bieng a rapist storyline with a false Jake actually raped marley while Jake was bieng held hostage by evan bates who was Janice frames son and paid an imposter to have plastic surgury to look like Jake which would have been right out of the faux Bo Patrick London storyline oltl did in 1988 to corect the 1988 writers strike screw ups. And yes it might sound absurd but sure as hell would have been a nice way to course correct all that awful out of charecter stuff that was gong on at aw especially during the 1990 all the way to 1992 period. And continued with Peggy Sloane. And finnaly I will say this again I am in the Kathleen Cass camp but I also really liked Alice barrett too and I hate how both were treated. But in Alice Barrett's case I can understand why harding Lemay as story consultant made that decision as the frames were based on his own upbringing and his creation for the most part with the exception of Steve frame the same way the Snyders were to douglas Marland at atwt. And Alan from what I understand Paulina Cory was planned to be killed too who judy Evans played for again I can understand why harding would have wanted that because again the Cory's were his creation and Paulina Cory from a history stand point did not make any sense. But judy was phenomenal in that role but would have been the correct move because during that time period was when grant Alexander returned as Phillip on guiding light but Beth chamberlin was not available to return at that time. So that would have Been a good move. I think at that time. But because of the shake up everything got screwed up. And Alan I think originally before Ken Fitts was fired Paul Rauch was supposed to replace Jill at aw in what would have been a big return but instead he got moved to guiding light. And that was a big mistake again. And Alan I think the sting of Frankie still bites because Julie Osborn was never asked to return as Kathleen who was Jake's sister where Kathleen and Cass could have been brought back together. Which would have helped the shows ratings. And finally because Lisa Peloso came up who I absolutely love and loved as ava on loving and I said it before I never was crazy about the Lila charecter or liked her but Lisa should have been brought on as the third Lorna and took over the role from Robin Christopher and would have been perfect to play Felicia and Lucas daughter and she even looks a little like she could be linda dano's. daughter. But at the end of the day I think another world never solved the problem of how a lot of the actors were treated and I have to wonder if the studio in Brooklyn was cursed after George reinholdt and jaqualine Courtney got fired in 1975 considering too some of the stuff that happened at as the, world turns too after the show moved production there but still no where near as bad as some the stuff that happened at another world which was just unacceptable like in the later years threatening actors and running around bitching that the show was going to get canceled and I know that's accurate because someone I knew years ago grew up with one of the actors who acted on another world. But I am not going to say who it is.
Bringing Cass & Kathleen back together would just make the characters boring. I think even Alice Barrret said once you are married on a soap, they need to find something to shake things up to disturb the marriage. If Cass & Kathleen were just this crazy in love couple on TV, then the viewers lose interest. Why marriages on any soap is usually the most short lived. Bringing Kathleen back when Lila arrived could have made a lot of sense but they already did that story with Frankie. AW made a lot of mistakes on character returns and the history. There were too many recasts & characters moving in and out. Just my opinion..
@@dennisdonoghue9202 exactly too many recasts and often the, wrong actors for those roles like Sam fowler when other actors were available to take over those parts who could actually deliver the material the way the writers intended while delivering the mateial and bringing back the delivery the way Robert Kelker Kelly could as sa. Anyway just my thoughts and than God when Stephen showed up at as the world turns as Cass Felicia was no longer there but I have to wonder since I actually watched the tail end of Doug Marlands run and remember when he died how Doug Marland might have integrated aw charecters Into oakdale but I know it would have been good And shook things up.
“One Life to Live” was at its best, those years Stephen Schnetzer was on. He was always part of the eclectic friends and lovers at Ina Hopkins (Sally Gracie) boarding house. This included not just Katrina Karr (Nancy Snyder), but Daytime Emmy Winners… Judith Light as Karen Wolek, Gerald Anthony as Marco Dane, and Al Freeman, Jr.as Lt. Ed Hall. They were a surrogate family, almost in the style of a “kitchen sink” drama we see in Britain, care of “Eastenders” or “Coronation Street”… So, we can giggle over an Italian beer truck driver as Mr. Right, but in a soap world of countless doctors, and lawyers, and tycoons, Schnetzer’s Marcello was one of a kind. Though… how he didn’t know about Katrina’s hooker past, when Karen’s shouted courtroom confession was revealed to almost all of Llanview is beyond me… ❤
Ps Alan do you think you could ever do a show about the longest night in Llanview (and soap opera history), the night of Asa Buchanan’s masquerade ball? So many potential guests (some new, some returning): Steve Fletcher, Nancy Snyder, Brynn Thayer, Robert S. Woods, Taina Elg, Kristen Meadows, Anthony Call, Michael Storm, Dorian Lopinto, Ken Meeker, Cusi Cram, Christine Jones, Margaret Klenck, Marilyn Chris…
Regarding the episode involving Wally's death (Brent Collins) that Stephen mentioned, I have a copy of it that I uploaded to UA-cam (it originally aired on Feb. 10, 1988). He and Linda were awesome in stepping out of character in telling about Brent's passing away: ua-cam.com/video/2l7TQqBgamY/v-deo.html Also, At the end of Stephen's interview, he mentioned the final episode of _Another World_ which I also have posted in my collection: ua-cam.com/video/TGCwniPA5_Q/v-deo.html

Canton Mass is a suburb of Boston. Its not a hot spot for soon to be entertainers just like every other suburb of cities across the country so I don't know why he needs rag on where he is from. He was probably lucky enough that NYC was only about 3 hours away from where he grew up.
Awe. Excellent interview Alan. I secretly kept hoping Linda Dano would be a surprise guest . Truly heartwarming revisiting a special time period of soap operas.
Great Interview! You should get Victoria Wyndham to sit down with you. Id love to hear her experiences with live or maybe live-like television when she was popular as Charlotte on Guiding Light and how she and the cast felt about GL expanding from 15 to 30 minutes and her memories of Iran Phillips. these are the kind of interviews that will live on as recorded history of legends past. Not much is said about Phillips and I would like to know. Many would, I am sure. is anyone working on a Phillips biography?
@@TheLocherRoom True but just for her fans, she should just do a sit down interview and talk about a character she did for decades & who she is. I think VW is kind of a private person and good for her.. I get it. She is was so ready to just retire and live a peaceful life after AW but just to come on for 30 minutes or so to talk about her experience like so many of her peers have done..

Great ideas. Hopefully I can get some of these folks.
It could be a Halloween show. 🎃
DARN IT. I really wanted to say Cass belonged with Kathleen. And I missed it.
Regarding the episode involving Wally's death (Brent Collins) that Stephen mentioned, I have a copy of it that I uploaded to UA-cam (it originally aired on Feb. 10, 1988). He and Linda were awesome in stepping out of character in telling about Brent's passing away:

Also, At the end of Stephen's interview, he mentioned the final episode of _Another World_ which I also have posted in my collection:

I can't wait to watch both of these, Chase. You're the best.
@@TheLocherRoom -- While I was watching your interview, it brought smiles to me so many times and hearing Stephen brought back so many, many memories. I'm just really grateful that I could add these 2 videos for you, Alan. 🙂
I understand.
The big three to me on Another World is Rachel/Felicia/Cass. Hands down.
Canton Mass is a suburb of Boston. Its not a hot spot for soon to be entertainers just like every other suburb of cities across the country so I don't know why he needs rag on where he is from. He was probably lucky enough that NYC was only about 3 hours away from where he grew up.
😍😍😍😍
SS looks like he is in his late 50's at best. His energy is way younger than 75. He looks like he could be cousins with Paul Stanley from KISS.
Awe. Excellent interview Alan. I secretly kept hoping Linda Dano would be a surprise guest . Truly heartwarming revisiting a special time period of soap operas.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Thank you for tuning-in.
Thank you, HK. Victoria is enjoying her life in anonymity.
