    No one needs to try and say this looks like a gas station knife. This is to gas station knives as Cartier is to Spirit Halloween costume jewelry. What a magnificent piece of art.

    I can appreciate the complexity and craftsmanship, but I don't think I could design a knife that appeals to me less if I tried. It's cool that people are making stuff like this for the people who do like them, though!

    I always say I would use any knife I'm able to afford, but if I was actually able to acquire something like this, it would never get used for anything but a show piece. Hell, I'd be afraid to even pocket this knife. It would literally sit on my mantle inside of a glass/wooden case so that not even dust could get to it. This knife is absolutely gorgeous on so many levels. Makes me wonder how much of this knife is hand engraved and what's done by a C&C milling machine. Either way, this knife is genuinely a masterpiece to say the least.

    I hope everyone appreciates what the craftsmen are trying to achieve here. This is a master piece in every sense of the word - a display piece that highlights the makers' skills & abilities. They are trying to apply as many techniques and use as many materials as possible to show what can be done. Every time you look at a knife like this you'll find something new. In many ways you need to stop critiquing this as a knife and instead drill down and critique the techniques, materials and finishes. Thanks for showing. Sharp blades all.

    • @realbroggo
      @realbroggo 2 дні тому

      Remember it's also not just about making the knife you see in front of you. You don't just pop some materials into a machine and it magically spits out perfection. The hours of design work & prototyping before you even try to make a saleable version would be insane. Take care.

    Whoever says that "You just push a button on a machine, it doesn't take skill" Is completely clueless. You sound like you work in the office up front because that's what they think to. Your the Dockers wearing guy.
    Granted a tool and die maker is probably at the top of the food chain but you cannot achieve the design of this knife manually. There was designing involved, tooling, order of operations, working holding and the MANY other problems have to be figured out to achieve a piece like the one in the video.
