@@stevesmith756the 9th inning at bat sure was batting practice but he already had the record.
Not sure about his 2nd HR of the game which was 50.
In the end, Ohtani hasn’t gotten many freebies. He faces many lefties too.
He still knows he has to have a great post season. He wants the WS championship real bad.
Mookie and Freeman are hungry for another too.
The pitching has to hold up though. Dodgers can beat anybody in a playoff series. They can certainly lose too like many other teams.

Ohtani is the best baseball player I've ever seen. I really don't think it's that close. You can argue injuries, but when he's healthy, he does this AND is a Cy Young candidate. That's unheard of. This comes from someone who closely watched Pujols in his prime.
In terms of Skip, respect to him. His take is exactly the way I think. Now if the game is tied. Nope. I'm walking Ohtani.

You must be relatively new to baseball. He's not even close to being the best player of all-time. Just because you can do a lot of things doesn't make you the best. As a pitcher, he's nowhere near Sale, Cole, Skubal, Ragans, Skeenes, etc. He's never hit 60+ HRs in a season, so he's not close to Bonds, Mcgwire, Judge, etc as a power hitter. He is an opportunistic base stealer, not a gifted one. He could never do what Rickey Henderson did. You're not celebrating excellence in every facet of the game; you're celebrating "pretty good" all-around because the media is force feeding you a certain narrative about this guy (did I mention that he has a gambling problem, but, unlike Pete Rose, he wasn't excommunicated from the game?).

    Congratulations to Shohei for joining first the 50/50 club ! ! ! ! !
If Shohei had entered the MLB immediately after graduating from high school as he had originally hoped, we would have seen Shohei only as a pitcher today. We wouldn't have seen Shohei as a home run hitter and a skilled base stealer, which we are now celebrating.
Shohei himself intended to play as a pitcher in the MLB, and the MLB teams' executives thought the same. And he told the NPB teams not to draft him. Despite this, only the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters selected him as their first pick, and Shohei initially declined the nomination.
However, the team and manager Hideki Kuriyama (who was also the manager of Team Japan in the WBC 2023) presented him with a detailed development plan and suggested that he would try playing as a two-way player as a professional, something that he himself had not thought about. Their enthusiastic persuasion paved the way for Shohei to become a two-way player in the professional league and made it a reality.
Furthermore, the LA Angels accepted him as a two-way player in the MLB. And In 1921, manager Joe Maddon respected Ohtani's desire to "play every day as a two-way player", and removed the batting restrictions, giving him a freer environment.
I can't express my gratitude to all of them. Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!!!
Of course, I would also like to thank his father, Toru, and Hanamaki Higashi High School's manager Hiroshi Sasaki, who built the foundation for Shohei as a great baseball player, as well as his mother, Kayoko, his elder brother, Ryuta, and elder sister, Yuuka, who raised Shohei to be a kind and generous person.

More income to MLB teams, sponsors, advertisers, food vendors, memorabilia sales, distributors of the goods, etc. it is a very big deal to the companies and the thousands of workers who are directly and indirectly affected by the increase in attendance and sales. Surely the teams are motivated and hyped by the increase in attendance. And Shohei is a huge part of that effect.

I’m a bleed blue Dodger fan and my favorite player in the game is Mookie. He’s the best all around player I can recall watching since Griffey Jr. With that in mind, few things about the unmatched greatness of what Shohei is doing are more enjoyable to me than how Mookie reacts.
He’s a top 5 player of his generation, so absurdly great at everything that it’s unfair to humanity, but mention Ohtani and you’d think he’s a kid hoping for a glimpse of his idol and maybe a signature. His smile is ear to ear, no ego, no pretense that he’s close to Ohtani as a player. He’s like us, a fan in awe.

A unanimous MVP lock for Ohtani. All 30 BBWAA voting members have the easiest MVP vote in MLB history going 6 for 6 w 3 HR's & 10 RBI's. There have been many prolific hitters as the Judge to win MVP but this is a first in all of baseball history. WOW! TY OHTANI!

what people underrate about his steals is how many runs they create. The first run of the game was direct result of Ohtani. He gets a single, steals 2nd, then the ball has to be thrown there to get him, it gets away and he's off the 3rd base with nobody out. That's a near 100% rate of scoring on 3rd with 0 outs. He directly created a run all by himself.
