Many happy returns, Doc! 🎉🎂🎁🥳 I share your astonishment about kids with no boundaries. I was once at an outdoor cafe and there was a pre-school age kid wandering among the tables waving a sizeable stick that had fallen from a tree. The stick hit me at one point - not hard or deliberately, but at eye-height and enough to be dangerous if I’d not turned my head quickly. I said very gently and nicely to the kid “Hey Sweetie, be careful with that stick. You might hurt somebody. Maybe take it away from where people are eating?” At that point, all hell broke loose and I got a mouthful of rage and abuse from the mother, who was sitting at a nearby table! As you say, “jarring experience” is the absolute best way to describe it. 😮

Happy birthday!! I hope you are having a great day.
If my kids had been messing with stuff in a doctors office or honestly anywhere they were, they would have known they better stop. The look is all it takes.

Happy Birthday!! Wonder what that kid will become as an adult. You are right, we do need boundaries and expectations. His mother did. Not parent him, scary.

Happy birthday Doc. I dont know if she was 'gentle parenting' and expecting you to set the boundary for her child or not but maybe. I tell people all the time. Setting boundaries isnt limiting or restraining others. It is an expression of your self respect in which you are inviting others to do the same. It becomes limiting only if they demonstrate an inability to do so. 😢

Was the mother deaf - or used to being RUDE? No Dr would have had to punish us, he could tell by us & how we behaved, she was a disciplinarian, and would take 5 kids (born in 6 yrs) & could leave us alone -- we knew she had extra eyes - we always remembered mom's knew & saw everything!! Of course - she couldn't - but she caught us at enough things as toddlers, that we KNEW by age 5 & 6 DON'T DO THAT! The Drs loved when we came to visit! He never had children, so we were lie grandkids to him. That was fine by us!

Who knows what is going on in another person’s life.
Her husband and family may have threatened her and she gave up.

Interesting take, but genuinely curious why my office should bear that burden?

@@DrMudgil ask your mother how long she had to keep quiet until she got free from her husband and his family.
You do a great job on your channel.
A little kindness goes a long way.
