many of us have unhealthy relationships with discipline & routine because society has taught us that we are inherently unworthy of the life we want. want financial freedom? you first have to go to college, climb the corporate ladder, and slave away for 30+ years before you can enjoy it at retirement. follow the rules, and you will get there one day. the last few years have taught us that this isn't true. we are discovering that we are capable & deserving of financial freedom, happiness, and overall a life of abundance without following the standard rules of the system. in this video, i share some practical ways you can build your dream life & implement discipline in order to do so.

I literally just had this realization! Working out everyday is an act of self love. Discipline= consistently showing up for and loving yourself
For me discipline always seemed so negative and made me feel like I was forcing myself to do stuff, but this just changed my perspective! Thank u
Thank you for this ! Needed it today
✨️🙏❤️
working out makes me over fixate on something i genuinely struggle with (body image). its so hard for me lol
🫶🏼
I was waking up at 5 am every single morning and cleaning, washing the dishes, and having a perfect clean home but feeling drained and awful, because my “motivation” was to fill a society expectation, a rule that says that I need to be a perfect wife with the perfect life and tidy home. When I realized that I DONT HAVE TO FILL ANYBODY EXPECTATIONS BUT MINE. I still wake up by 5 am but now I am doing it for me, to have a calm morning, make myself a good breakfast, have time to read and journal and now my days starts with the right foot. Same habit, different motivation = 100% change
Did u have a full time job ontop of that cleaning
@@kilaishereavakin6332 I have a full time job, a side hustle and a restaurant
Same friend! I just started thinking "I'm doing it for myself, I deserve to have a clean house, I deserve to cook in a clean kitchen, I deserve to sleep on clean sheets" and that changed soooooo much my mindset.
I Love this. I have never had discipline because I felt I was doing it for everyone else. Now at 39 I truly want to be more motivated and consistent which is what brought me here. It's very fulfilling to see people hold the same view as myself. It's spring time so I'm definitely back in action but want to be consistent, that's key🤍
t's incredible how a change in motivation can transform the same routine. Prioritizing your well-being and starting the day for yourself is such a powerful shift. Your commitment to a calm morning, self-care, and positive habits is truly inspiring. It's a reminder that the most important expectations to meet are the ones we set for ourselves
Big take aways for me:
1.TRUST YOURSELF
2.discipline=power=self love
3. It’s a journey.enjoy it.
4. Spend time alone to connect with yourself and what calls you.
5. Creat a system to get you closer to your goals.
Thank you for this!
Love and blessings to all

I’m gonna be honest, I avoided this video for a long time. I’m scared of learning about things that are good for me. I was scared that I was going to feel guilty. But this video made me feel a lot better about these things. Never thought that self-love would intertwine with discipline. This video changed my mindset. Thank you so much.
Its called The Jonah Complex
Yeah I've been scared of watching it too...I didn't feel like I was ready...but I am now
I feel you
Same
your honesty is appreciated ❤️
I was NOT raised in a disciplined home, so it’s a daily struggle for me. Thanks for the reminder that discipline is love (not just for my son, I deserve the same love 💚)! Thanks for sharing your journey! 🫶🏽
Right? It’s so hard getting disciplined and staying on top of things for me since it was never that way at home, especially after my parents divorced. It never occured to me that discipline is love
i am right here with ya! As long as we remind ourselves and get back on track we should be good
@@Alex-tj5vw absolutely!! 💚
Same!!!
Same.
Thank you for this video. I found myself on a negative spiral about how I’m not doing enough, how I’m not being disciplined enough, and this really helped me see how much I’m shaming myself into “living” a certain way because that’s what other “more successful” people must do. This helped me remember that I can live my life how *I* want. It doesn’t have to look like others’ lives.
I was doing the same & was reminded to look back a year to see how much I’ve evolved since then. I hope that perspective blesses you, too. 😘🫶🏽💚 you’re doing great, Jasmine!

There’s this quote that goes “Hard choices lead to an easy life, easy choices lead to a hard life” or something along the lines of it & I always go back to it when I’m feeling self destructive ☁️
Such a good quote, thanks for sharing 🙏 ✨
You know what? You’re the friend I needed atm. Most of these motivational podcasts/videos are dominated by men and they make you feel like you’re running out of time and ask you to do extreme things to change your life immediately. Women put it in such a soft, loving and peaceful way. You’re the voice i needed to hear so thank you for this video and all your other videos! 💗
i can relate so much to this
True, I love her take on this x
I love that you say discipline is a practice of self-love. So true. The way we were taught discipline has been so authoritative and fear based and therefore we swing to the other side and say "going with the flow" is self true love. Neither are, it'll always be a balance.
i have this bad habit of just jumping into change (overnight) and finding myself falling back into old ways right away. little by little is what i need to focus on. i'm always focused on the result, the prize, not the journey.
ik im super late but ty for sharing:)
I remember I was showing my therapist my art journal's recent entries. the topic was self love and finally I said "I don't love myself"
And he said "yes you do"
And it took me back, shocked me cuz usually he's so agreeable.
He says "these journal entries are PROOF that you love yourself."
And so he told me to keep looking for proof that I love myself. It was a slow process, but necessary cuz it turned around my perspective so much.
I love this cause I literally just deleted every social media app off my phone. I feel like it drains me and it’s not even that entertaining watching peoples lives it just helps to detach from my own reality cause I don’t know how to control it the way I want to 😢…
"We always want the best for ourselves because we love ourselves"
This completely switched my mindset omg. I always felt like I didn't like myself so I always wanted to improve and do the best for me, so I could finally love myself. But now I realized that I already do. Because I want to put in the effort to heal and do all these things. That shows me that I already do. Thank you so much!
what a great mindset! going to screenshot your comment, to remind myself of this.
^^
The fundamental problem with this is half of the time I don’t love myself. I just don’t want to exist. The other half I’m trying to make my life comfortable enough that I won’t hate myself so much. I’ll give your advice a try. Great video.
So true. Once I changed my mindset to “I deserve keeping my word to myself and I deserve to do this for myself” things began to change so much
"you do these things because we love ourselves" yes
Atomic habits is so good! It's more of an action oriented book which I preferred as far as habit changing. My favorite tip as far as changing habits is making or not making something easily accessible. For example, if you're trying to eat less sugar just don't buy it when you go to the grocery store. When you have a craving you'll have to get dressed, get in your car, and drive to the store to get it.
or u can just order it online but yes i see how that works
I really struggled to find the balance between discipline and self-love. Everytime I did a task or held back from an addiction, I would reward myself by indulging in that addiction. I justified it to myself by saying that "I did a good job so I deserve what I want". But really, it was just skewing the results of my discipline because I wasn't truly challenging myself to the extent that I wanted. Now that I'm regaining that hold and seeing my true strengths and weaknesses, I've found the chance to grow without the stress of sacrificing relaxation time. I definitely feel that slowly as I go forward I see progress day by day!
Discipline= consistently showing up for and loving yourselfDiscipline= consistently showing up for and loving yourself
“Doing this out of love and not out of shame “… that’s so important i love that u said this. For now on when i don’t want to do something ik i need to do i will tell myself I’m doing this because i love myself not because of xyz reason
Although I’ve always seen myself as self-disciplined, I never looked at discipline as self love before… I’m so happy to take that message and apply it to my life and goals 💓 thank u
One thing that I once read in a book is that , wanting to always have a positive mindset and outcome is itself a negative mindset .We have to stop only focusing on the outcomes and rather just enjoy the journey and go with the flow of things
Currently reading Atomic Habits too, and this video helps me get in the zone even more. I haven't written down goals for some time because I always failed them. 2020 I passed my real estate course exam but didn't take the state exam due to the 19. I decided to jump back in there again because I did get a little sad that I didn't accomplish my licenses. It made me realize that I need to get disciplined in a lot of areas of my life and get focused as well as organized.
Also rereading Atomic Habits 💗 love that for you!
I’m so proud of you for getting back up and doing it all again. That in itself is you doing amazing great. Good job and best of luck!
@@silentlyapparent9288 Love that for you too! We got this!!
@@esotericbliss5887 Thank You!! 💞💞
My takes:❤️
-Do it out of love and not shame
-Don’t focus on end goal so much that you don’t enjoy the journey
-start with small changes or goals towards the big goal.
-Start observing myself and see habits or changes required
-break goals down into yearly, monthly, weekly
- Have a system that helps day by day to reach your goal… what current self can do for future self
literally just found your channel an hour ago and this came up at the perfect time. i really want to take exercise more seriously and just care for my body a lot more. this came at the right time. not working out cause i should be, but because my body deserves me to look after it better
yesss that mindset shift has been so major for me especially with my health!
The lyrics to the lullaby my mom sang to me as a kid:
Inch by inch and row by row
Gotta make my garden grow
All i need is a rake and a hoe and
A piece of fertile ground
Inch by inch and row by row
Gonna make my garden grow
Bless these seeds I sow
Til the rain comes tumbling down
I used to just think it was a song about gardening. As an adult I now recognize my mom was trying to teach me that everything worth growing takes time, and effort. It’ll grow inch by inch until one day it all blossoms. Whenever I feel like down, I still sing that song to myself, just as a reminder that good things take time. Thanks mom ❤️
Watching this because I have adhd and discipline is really hard for me. I know what to do. I know how to do it. But it’s the part of “just doing it” that hinders me 🥴 which is what makes adhd so annoying because my brain won’t let me “just do it.” Stimulants keep you up, but not necessarily focused on what you SHOULD be focused on.
You should know you’re one of the biggest reasons why ive geared up into action and started embodying my higher self especially with my yt channel😭😭
Like ur old videos about beliefs and shadow work REALLY helped me on this journey im forever grateful for u🥳❤️🔥❤️🔥
ahhh this just made my day! wishing you the best on your youtube journey!! running to subscribe now
Exactly making that shift in perspective from fear to love is so important ❤️ Millionaires with fearful mindsets are just as much a modern slave as a 9-5 person. We really do determine our own realities ✨
The WAAAAAY I’ve been avoiding this reality check every time this video got recommended AHSHAHDHD but finally took the courage to watch it, much needed
This was just further confirmation that we are all exactly where we need to be. 🙌🏾✨ Society will often have us feeling so behind but it’s all about finding a pace we can all sustain regardless of how long it takes. ❤ Thank you for this video!
viewing discipline as self love is such a beautiful way to convince the mind into creating healthy habits from a fun perspective. excellent video
this video couldn’t have come at a better time 💜 thank you for making it
I'm so glad ❤ thank you for watching
I never comment on videos but I woke up and literally wrote in my planner “self discipline is self love” and I found myself procrastinating scrolling on UA-cam and this video came up on my homepage and it really resonated with my current situation, I was diagnosed with adhd in my mid teens, and at 23 I still struggle finding ways to become more structured and find myself feeling less than when I don’t follow through with my plans but this video really helped and all I can say is thank you ❤️
i’m focused on becoming a healthier and happier me; my self love & respect. i’m focused on my dream career (influencer/content creator). i’m very much focused on moving out of my state. wish me luck ❤
i found your video on tiktok and i am so glad you plugged your yt in the comments because this video brought me so much peace by putting my mind at ease and overall gave me a better sense of direction. you’ve completely reminded me what is needed of me to stay on track. additionally, i learned that i really lacked self-love a lot more than i thought just based on the habits that i have for myself. this shift in perspective has switched on a light bulb for me and it is now clear on what is needed of me in order to embody the best version of myself. thank you so much! you truly are an inspiration 🙏🏽
Once i realized and understood this it was a game changer for me!! It instantly made me change diet, regularly exercise, stay focused and disciplined with my goals, keep up with my appearance, and get rid of things that don’t serve me
Your channel feels like you really sit & speak in behalf of this collective mindset/awakening/focus. Thanks girl, sending much love & best wishes for 2023, last year was rough for me too💕
This video came to me in divine timing❤️🔥 I’ve been realizing that in order to change and do healthy habits it’s not because I want to be a certain way but because I want to love myself more. Eating healthy is loving myself. Journaling my emotions is honoring myself. Learning about my interests is encouraging myself. I do things out of love and not of jealousy, envy, or shame. The more I do out of love, the more i become someone I love. Thank you for affirming my new beliefs :)
Just flew back to Canada and was bombarded with school work. Thank you so so much Lynette for this video. You are truly a light ❤
One of the best videos I've EVER watched on UA-cam. When you talk about seeing discipline as self-love/doing things out of love not shame, thinking of how you do things to protect kids out of love... a game-changer & life-changing.
Used it today and had the most productive day because I came from a place of 'How is this task I'm supposed to do right now showing me that I love myself?'
9:25 this is so incredibly important
I’m wishing you nothing but success Lynette. Your videos really helped jump start my self-love journey and I’m sooo thankful 😢
Discipline is as simples as doing the right things everytime you need to do it!
Love that I ran across this video. I’ve decided this is the year that I make things happen, and not just say it, like other years. Got lofty goals but also wanna go about them with realism and practicality. I just get the vibe that this is the type of content that will keep me on that path. One of my first books I chose to open this year has been Atomic Habits, bc I think it’d help develop the building blocks to elevating and when you brought it up it felt spot on! Thanks for creating content catered to growth & expansion, love your unique insight and perspective. NEW SUBSCRIBER 👋🏽
You always manage to make videos about what I need to hear when I need to hear it. I love how everyone else is on their own journey but going through the same things so we can help each other out
Whoa I’m so glad to have found this video. Just an hour ago I was telling myself that motivation doesn’t keep you going, it’s discipline that makes you happen. Unfortunately when it comes to work outs I’m not disciplined, I’m glad I realized that and I will work on it. I’ve commented before the video plays so I’ll watch it and thanks for this.
The new year in my country starts in the first day of spring but it still doesn't feel like new year. We just need to be realistic and realize the new year doesn't bring anything special. Live your days fully and don't wait for the first day of week, month or year to start something.
This video coming out at the start of the year is truly such a blessing. Thank you so much, Lynette❤
Love the emphasis on embracing progress, not perfection! Making small changes is the key to sustainable growth. Your advice to constantly evolve and grow spiritually resonates deeply-it's a journey, not a destination. The idea of making small adjustments to habits until you feel in flow is brilliant. It's all about the journey of self-improvement, and your insights are a great reminder to be gentle with ourselves along the way.
The message you’re sharing in this video is really nice. It’s very real that self love is a major component in having the ability to motivate yourself. Sometimes unfortunately it’s not even just that the mindset itself is missing, it’s the self love. It’s really hard to move yourself from a place where you don’t love yourself to actually valuing and appreciating yourself enough to envision all that you can do.
I relate passionately to when she spoke about relating your higher self to your physical being, because we are not our reality, yet we can dictate it. This video has encouraged me to really start structuring my higher so that my physical self can align with it and therefore i have the power. good luck and if your reading this i wish you blessings and strength on your journey!
This! I realized this last year I have shifted to focusing on taking care of myself and discipline is a huge part of that 💗
watching this in 2024😂😂
Me too 😂 love that 💜💙💜 11:16
Bro discipline will be same in 2023 or 2024. Just take notes out of it and try improve it. 🙌
I was sold be the last 15 seconds before 5:42 immediately the best advice I've heard, literally life changing and subscribed. Thank you for actually sharing real life examples and ways to think bc I feel like most people spiral and you are direct to the point and want to find ways to connect with ur viewers and I LOVE IT
gained a subscriber from me i came across your video in my suggested and boy did i need it. its hard to find authentic creators that are in touch with themselves and dont try and feed you into behaviors that will benefit them (ex. plans and joining exclusive clubs). thank you for speaking your truth and helping others find theirs
Love this. Patience and devotion is key for this new year!
Your videos resonate with me so heavily !! I really feel like you’re making a huge difference and helping so many people. Thankyou 🫶🏻
For me the winter is for hibernating and planning. Spring is the “New Year”, the new beginning for us.
when i tell you i needed this help, i just started to thrive for what i can really do instead of settling for the bare minimum so this really helps
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 this is what I’ve been feeling since new years. I haven’t felt this good, this positive in such a long time. It’s like a switch flipped and I just feel so motivated I know it’s going to be an amazing year and I know I can make it happen and it’s going to be easy, I’m not going to kill myself this year I’m over the hustle, I’m
Going to fully embrace my divine feminine! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I love how you explain points, they are so easy to follow. Personally, Google calendar has been a godsend for me! I usually stick to a pretty good regimen, the only time it gets side tracked is when I find an online course and like binge watch and study lol. It’s a good thing, but throws off my plans. My greatest secret to discipline has been falling in love with the entire process. Especially with UA-cam, I have grown to love and appreciate my skills I am refining when it comes to editing. Great video! Keep doing great things love! ☺️💫💕
Getting into daily habits that serve me and slowly letting go of the ones that don’t ❤
I discovered that doing things out of love instead of shame is necessary for sustaining growth and for supporting the mental aspect of growth. Society always pushes the opposite, leading us away from feeling motivated to and capable of achieving the growth by ourselves, and leads us to feeling like we NEED outside support/products to achieve it. Appreciate this video :)
It's crazy how I was talking about needing to be more disciplined with my sleeping schedule when I found this video. I've never thought about it being self-love, but I really like that framing. I'm going to do my best to create the conditions I need in order to achieve my goals moving forward.
I woke up early today bc I had to, but I've got so much more done bc I've now had the time to rest as well as get all my work done! Waking up early is a game changer!!
That’s why I fixed my sleeping schedule!!!!
YOURE AMAZING FOR THIS
Some focus points I have are definitely my health like staying fit and eating healthy and feeding my mind healthy things . Another is connecting to my higher self more and getting deeper rooted in my spirituality and learning more skills to advance myself in the field I’m interested in.
4:55 this!! I’ve recently just started thinking like this, taking care of myself as if I’m reparenting my younger self. It really makes me show up for myself the way I should’ve been.
I'm new to your channel, but I love it already! A few things that I'm focused on this year: health and fitness (I'd like to lose at least 45 pounds); real estate (I've taken the coursework, but I have yet to pass my salesperson exam for my license); and spending more time with family and friends (and be present and in the moment with the people I love).
Wow, just wow! The little girl part in the beginning really opened my eyes bc I try to talk everything out with my son so that he knows what to do and not to do and the fact that I don’t do the same with myself.
Been dying to listen to you ! finally made the time and im grateful you're sharing things like this
I just got done affirming and I asked myself to see something exactly like this and your video popped up; long story short this is a wonderful video & it helped ease my mind for sure I hope you continue to have nothing but abundance & continue to be the great person you are!
been thinking about this for a while, but a lot of ppl mistake self-indulgence as self-care. "i deserve this, i worked hard." but they end up just spoiling theirselves, doing something that is not really helpful or will not lead to something good for themselves.
this felt kinda like an eye opener for me... I’ve been so used to seeing discipline as something made out of rules to follow that this outlook based on love feels revolutionary yet true. now it makes sense why I tend to fail when I try adding/shifting habits: I don’t feel the process as something for personal nourishing and improvement but to take control of my life, to hold myself accountable-and yes, out of shame and guilt. I’ve gotta start making baby steps towards this loving mindset as I know it’ll be a bit difficult to switch from a self imposed perfectionist one, one step, one action at a time.
thanks for this video, I really needed to watch this ❤
i appreciate this video fr, your light 🫶🏽
girl I love you.. the universe sent you my way for sure
your voice is so soothing to listen to and i really needed this video rn!! thankyou lynette
Your voice and your message was well needed today thank you ❤
The timeline tip was soooo good! Thank you for that, perception of time is something that I struggle with and giving my goals not only deadlines, but actionable execution dates will be a game changer! Thank you!
This was so helpful. I love the idea of making changes from a place of love and not shame/perfection.
not even a minute into the vid and you just described my whole life 😮 i cant wait to see what changes I make in my life this year!
Thank you for posting this! I needed to hear it ❤️
I been trying to be more disciplined when dieting and chores. Got on the treadmill listening to you.
Hello Lynett, I love that you acknowledged that we have to try to focus more on ourselves and stop worrying about what other people are doing between 13:58-14:05. You mentioning that really sparks something in me😊
Wow, I am fiercely protective of myself because if not me than who, and to see habit changes as ways of protecting myself I think will really help me implement the changes I want to see. Absolutely love this. Thank you.
As someone who is self improving right now this was helpful for me. Thank you! ❤️
Lynette, I found your channel a few days ago, and I just can’t stop watching your videos. Thank you for sharing your experiences, your thoughts, you are such a beautiful soul ♥️ so happy to find you!!
this means the world, thank you!❤️
Thank you for this 🙏🏼💗
Thank you so much for this video. I have personally found it to be super helpful. Thank you. It is 2024 and I'm using this time to go backwards and look at all the videos that I watched last year. And see how it sits with me. And this one has a lot of good guidance and input.
This video is such a breath of fresh air thank you
Hi Lynette, I really appreciate the video. I am happy to hear what you had say and was able to remind myself things like going with the flow, taking it easy, and doing what’s best for me. I also learned from your video that consistency is important since it becomes natural when you are doing something daily and out of love. There’s a lot more to mention, but I will leave it at that. Once again, I loved the message, and your vibe.
I really love this perspective. Discipline and structure as a form of self-love. Doing the work out of love instead of shame. So good! Thank you for this video!
This video put me at so much ease. It took so much pressure off me and has me ready to give my all into my goals through systems. Thank you!
This was super helpful to hear, I’m super glad I found your channel 😊
Thank you for that, it’s really helped me the best video I seen
