I was waking up at 5 am every single morning and cleaning, washing the dishes, and having a perfect clean home but feeling drained and awful, because my “motivation” was to fill a society expectation, a rule that says that I need to be a perfect wife with the perfect life and tidy home. When I realized that I DONT HAVE TO FILL ANYBODY EXPECTATIONS BUT MINE. I still wake up by 5 am but now I am doing it for me, to have a calm morning, make myself a good breakfast, have time to read and journal and now my days starts with the right foot. Same habit, different motivation = 100% change

I Love this. I have never had discipline because I felt I was doing it for everyone else. Now at 39 I truly want to be more motivated and consistent which is what brought me here. It's very fulfilling to see people hold the same view as myself. It's spring time so I'm definitely back in action but want to be consistent, that's key🤍

t's incredible how a change in motivation can transform the same routine. Prioritizing your well-being and starting the day for yourself is such a powerful shift. Your commitment to a calm morning, self-care, and positive habits is truly inspiring. It's a reminder that the most important expectations to meet are the ones we set for ourselves

I found myself on a negative spiral about how I’m not doing enough, how I’m not being disciplined enough, and this really helped me see how much I’m shaming myself into “living” a certain way because that’s what other “more successful” people must do. I love that you say discipline is a practice of self-love. So true. The way we were taught discipline has been so authoritative and fear based and therefore we swing to the other side and say "going with the flow" is self true love. Neither are, it'll always be a balance.

I remember I was showing my therapist my art journal's recent entries. the topic was self love and finally I said "I don't love myself"
And he said "yes you do"
And it took me back, shocked me cuz usually he's so agreeable.
He says "these journal entries are PROOF that you love yourself."
And so he told me to keep looking for proof that I love myself. It was a slow process, but necessary cuz it turned around my perspective so much.

Atomic habits is so good! It's more of an action oriented book which I preferred as far as habit changing. My favorite tip as far as changing habits is making or not making something easily accessible. For example, if you're trying to eat less sugar just don't buy it when you go to the grocery store. When you have a craving you'll have to get dressed, get in your car, and drive to the store to get it.

I really struggled to find the balance between discipline and self-love. Everytime I did a task or held back from an addiction, I would reward myself by indulging in that addiction. I justified it to myself by saying that "I did a good job so I deserve what I want". But really, it was just skewing the results of my discipline because I wasn't truly challenging myself to the extent that I wanted. Now that I'm regaining that hold and seeing my true strengths and weaknesses, I've found the chance to grow without the stress of sacrificing relaxation time. I definitely feel that slowly as I go forward I see progress day by day!

Currently reading Atomic Habits too, and this video helps me get in the zone even more. I haven't written down goals for some time because I always failed them. 2020 I passed my real estate course exam but didn't take the state exam due to the 19. I decided to jump back in there again because I did get a little sad that I didn't accomplish my licenses. -Do it out of love and not shame
-Don’t focus on end goal so much that you don’t enjoy the journey
-start with small changes or goals towards the big goal.
-Start observing myself and see habits or changes required
-break goals down into yearly, monthly, weekly
    - Have a system that helps day by day to reach your goal… what current self can do for future self

The lyrics to the lullaby my mom sang to me as a kid:
Inch by inch and row by row
    Gotta make my garden grow
All i need is a rake and a hoe and
    A piece of fertile ground
Inch by inch and row by row
    Gonna make my garden grow
    Bless these seeds I sow
Til the rain comes tumbling down
I used to just think it was a song about gardening. As an adult I now recognize my mom was trying to teach me that everything worth growing takes time, and effort. It’ll grow inch by inch until one day it all blossoms. Whenever I feel like down, I still sing that song to myself, just as a reminder that good things take time. Thanks mom ❤️

Watching this because I have adhd and discipline is really hard for me. I know what to do. I know how to do it. But it’s the part of “just doing it” that hinders me 🥴 which is what makes adhd so annoying because my brain won’t let me “just do it.” Stimulants keep you up, but not necessarily focused on what you SHOULD be focused on.

Love the emphasis on embracing progress, not perfection! Making small changes is the key to sustainable growth. Your advice to constantly evolve and grow spiritually resonates deeply-it's a journey, not a destination. The idea of making small adjustments to habits until you feel in flow is brilliant. It's all about the journey of self-improvement, and your insights are a great reminder to be gentle with ourselves along the way.

The message you’re sharing in this video is really nice. It’s very real that self love is a major component in having the ability to motivate yourself. Sometimes unfortunately it’s not even just that the mindset itself is missing, it’s the self love. It’s really hard to move yourself from a place where you don’t love yourself to actually valuing and appreciating yourself enough to envision all that you can do.

🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 this is what I’ve been feeling since new years. I haven’t felt this good, this positive in such a long time. It’s like a switch flipped and I just feel so motivated I know it’s going to be an amazing year and I know I can make it happen and it’s going to be easy, I’m not going to kill myself this year I’m over the hustle, I’m
Going to fully embrace my divine feminine! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

I love how you explain points, they are so easy to follow. Personally, Google calendar has been a godsend for me! I usually stick to a pretty good regimen, the only time it gets side tracked is when I find an online course and like binge watch and study lol. It’s a good thing, but throws off my plans. My greatest secret to discipline has been falling in love with the entire process. Especially with UA-cam, I have grown to love and appreciate my skills I am refining when it comes to editing. Great video! Keep doing great things love! ☺️💫💕

I discovered that doing things out of love instead of shame is necessary for sustaining growth and for supporting the mental aspect of growth. Society always pushes the opposite, leading us away from feeling motivated to and capable of achieving the growth by ourselves, and leads us to feeling like we NEED outside support/products to achieve it. Appreciate this video :)

It's crazy how I was talking about needing to be more disciplined with my sleeping schedule when I found this video. I've never thought about it being self-love, but I really like that framing. I'm going to do my best to create the conditions I need in order to achieve my goals moving forward.

I'm new to your channel, but I love it already! A few things that I'm focused on this year: health and fitness (I'd like to lose at least 45 pounds); real estate (I've taken the coursework, but I have yet to pass my salesperson exam for my license); and spending more time with family and friends (and be present and in the moment with the people I love).

been thinking about this for a while, but a lot of ppl mistake self-indulgence as self-care. "i deserve this, i worked hard." but they end up just spoiling theirselves, doing something that is not really helpful or will not lead to something good for themselves.

this felt kinda like an eye opener for me... I’ve been so used to seeing discipline as something made out of rules to follow that this outlook based on love feels revolutionary yet true. now it makes sense why I tend to fail when I try adding/shifting habits: I don’t feel the process as something for personal nourishing and improvement but to take control of my life, to hold myself accountable-and yes, out of shame and guilt. I’ve gotta start making baby steps towards this loving mindset as I know it’ll be a bit difficult to switch from a self imposed perfectionist one, one step, one action at a time.
thanks for this video, I really needed to watch this ❤

Hi Lynette, I really appreciate the video. I am happy to hear what you had say and was able to remind myself things like going with the flow, taking it easy, and doing what’s best for me. I also learned from your video that consistency is important since it becomes natural when you are doing something daily and out of love. There’s a lot more to mention, but I will leave it at that. Once again, I loved the message, and your vibe.
