TH designed the "new" skate park in Hailey, ID when I was up there in 2002. Also built a full loop there, went to test it out and broke his damn arm! We all cheered and clapped anyway.
The physics alone is so entertaining to think about, it’s like they have to take on 4 times(about jumping from 5-6 feet) their body weight when on the last quarter of the ramp while balancing on that board. You can also tell that the rear leg takes on MOST of the impact and that’s what kept causing alot of failed attempts, but when they fully complete it its like a 60-40 impact ratio between both rear and front legs
I’m telling you this “Tony Hawk” Didn’t invent skateboards this dude Calvin Klein did. He was being chased by this “Biff” guy Klein also played at my high school
To those of you saying that this is filmed at a hospital and there are ambulances standing by, you are right. Tony Hawk and his friends are taking safety precautions hence the mats.
Thats because he was the 1st person in the world to the loop on a skateboard back in 1997 - Bob Burnquist was the 1st to do it switch and with a gap in the top of the loop, not at the same time.
The trick is to fall with the momentum, you aren't actually standing on the skateboard during the loop, just rotating and falling at an angle so that you land back on it.
it might have been tonys son im not sure but this boy about 13 actually tried this and nearly made it but half way the board slipped and he landed on his shoulder, dislocating it.
Skating:
50% skill
50% knowing how to fall without dying
Technically, knowing how to fall without dying _is_ skill when referring to more extreme sports.
so what u are saying is..that.... is 100% skill... thx
Like a certain song by fort minor - remember the name, the percentage might be varied
666 he's cursed
first thing to learn about skating is how to fall
Notice how they were all wearing helmets.
Because they aren't idiots.
Yeah most skaters dont wear hemmets not because they are idiots but because they dont want to. They just get back up and do it again. These skaters probably all skate without a helmet on the streets
Theyre just wearing because its a loop and dont want to land on top of their head with all their bodyweight added
Fixed*
Notice how they were all wearing helmets.
Because they dont wanna become idiots
they're wearing it because its a fucking crazy loop. you dont need a helmet for normal street skating if you know how to fall
@@strikerscrap1619 knowing how to fall doesn't save your ass 100% of the time. Not wearing protection is just stupid.

An ambulance should always follow skaters tbh
because i think it was tony son fell off at the top and dislocated his shoulder
1:17 thats the most graceful fall I have ever seen
Never actually thought about how hard the loop is. In the video game, you can land it while going at like 1mph and standing perfectly upright lol
I know right?!
In Sonic Rushit's even worst. He's walking and he does it easiliy!
It's all about understanding the physics of what happens with your body when you go through a loop.
