The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride is one of my favorite Disney sequels of all time, but much like many other die-hard Lion King fans, I can’t help but feel like something’s missing. Or should I say, someone? You see, before Disney created Kiara, there was another cub that many fans recognized as Simba’s child, and his name was Kopa. But with his absence from the second movie clear, it’s hard not to wonder why he wasn't in The Lion King 2. Be forewarned, the answer might SCAR you, no pun intended.

I think he survived, but ran away from the pridelands. Eventually he comes back after TLK2. He has an older brother Chaka, who was scrapped from TLK2 in an old script. Though Kopa’s brother is more official than him.
When I first learned about Kopa, I liked the character and wanted him to be official in the film franchise, but then I ended up accepting that he is not a recognized character in The Lion King.
I knew kopa a long time ago and it was sad but people are aware that he was alive after being attacked by zira, and his friends who are nuka and Vittany (can’t spell her name) who knew about his death accept for nuka,he believed his friend is alive and kopa was alive but he had to tell nuka that he was leaving the pride lands away from zira because if his parents knew he was alive he felt like he would put his family in more danger. That’s why we don’t see vittany with any other male lions because she still fell in love with kopa when they were cubs. And since zira “killed him” she felt as if her heart was broken and never wanted to find love for herself and that’s why she is the leader of the lion guard.

So the Lion King 2 is missing both of Simba's sons? That's a little weird 😕

I always thought about kopa and I now I understand why he wasn’t in the film
Maybe they were going to make kopa the new cub but changed it to Kiara because there’s not even that much girls in the movies

I didn't know of Kopa beforehand, but I like the dark fan theory about what about what happened to him.

That so cool that Simba and Nala might have a third child together it sad that Zira killed Kopa though.
The narrator also forgot to mention another difference of the cubs at the end: look at the *ears*
The first cub was obviously meant to be a boy. The design, the colors, the rectangular body, it was all visual signifiers it's a male cub. The second cub had more almond-shaped eyes, and a round body, making it believable as a baby girl.
Disney claims that the end of The Lion King 1 and the beginning of The Lion King 2 are the same scene, but we know they're different.

It's like they really try to see how dumb we are.
Kopa is survived to Zira's attack in my own head-canon. And he was attacked by Zira when Kiara(and maybe even Kion) was already born. Since he believed that his son was dead, Simba asked to his father and ancestors to erase every memory of their brother to his another 2 cubs and even to Vitani, who falled in love with Kopa, and forbid to say Kopa's name for forgot the mourning. This is why he was so protective with his daughter in the 2nd movie. But Kopa was alive and he left the Pride Lands, arriving in another kingdom and being raised by an heard of Cape Buffaloes, or in a desert in Egypt where he was adopted by a pride of Barbaries lions. Then he return in the Pride Lands for a motivation, and he reunited with his parents, sister, brither-in-law and love interest. And for this fan-film, I would put as main antagonist a wild dog, a Masai lion, a Barbary lion or Zira(since I'not sure that the river killed her).
They could have still put Kopa in the movie for a little bit
It's a retcon, Kopa doesn't exist

To be honest, this is the first time I’ve ever heard of Kopa and I was a huge fan of The Lion King 2, so this is really fascinating, especially given that years later they made the sequel series The Lion Guard and introduced Kion, who also was nowhere to be found in the Lion King 2. I didn’t watch the series, but I do think I remember hearing that they at least gave an explanation for his absence.
In the 1st couple scenes of TLK2 Kion is most likely born yet,when he meets Kovu,Vittini (dunno how its spelt) Nuka,Zira and the rest of the outlander pride Kovu has already met Kiara and Kion is always refereed too as her little brother,so he most likely isn't born. In the 3rd season Kion is gone to a place called the tree of life to cure a poison that was slowly turning him evil. Eventually two hyenas i don't remember the names off find him and tell him Zira is attacking the pride lands. Kion and his "lion" guard return to the pride lands shortly after TLK2 ends,and Kovu and Kiara basically summarise the last 1/4 of the movie
I knew about him, but I didn’t know a lot, and I was curious as to why we never saw him even after I got an answer.
Although considering how many years it’s been, it would be cool if Disney actually went ahead and made maybe movies or short films to tie everything up, they seem to have a habit of doing that a lot when making short stories in between movies from what I am recognizing.
They should’ve made Kopa the lead character of The Lion Guard instead of Kion. You’d think it would make more sense.
While I do agree, the only reason it wouldn’t work is because if you remember why he was the leader of the lion guard, it’s because he was younger than her that they gave him that job, so unless you want to say, maybe that would’ve been his job which I highly doubt before he was killed, that’s the only way it would make sense.

Anyone else who saw the first Lion King in theaters remember Simba and Nala having TWO cubs and not just one? I swear I remember the ending showing this.
I think Kopa survived and came back as an adult lion and he and Vitani moved away from the Pridelands to create their own pride.

Other predators chasing the cub is the most likely reason, that's the scientific thing the remakes keep leaving out. Lion lives as cubs are similar to Wolf lives as puppies. Cubs can be a meat eating bird's meal.

Having read and now owning the six new adventures books, I always liked Kopa and felt it was such a shame he wasn't in the movies. I do believe the theory of his death explains so much about everything in the second movie.

I think Kopa was actually a girl. And real name: Kiara.
Until this video id never heard of the books and until the show came out id never heard of Kopa BUT in another theory is that Kopa might not have been born yet when Kiara was an adult too… so that might be why he wasn’t mentioned in the tlk2 either

Kopa was a original character most people never read none of the books he was in the original lion king film he was the baby at the end that rafiki was holding and than fast forward they come with a brand new show and give simba another kid named kion like come on
