Paleoartists reacting to NEW dinosaur documentary: "T. rex"! We also react to a paleontology fringe theory / conspiracy theorist at the end as a BONUS.
Kandy Eggs (everyone's 8th or so favorite queer), and paleontology student Definitely Not Pedro ( / @definitelynotpedro / / @noimnotpedro / definitelynotpedroandrade) are two unnecessarily well-informed dinosaur fans who are also illogically PASSIONATE about things like this.

We’re just bashing it because it’s made to be educational and play in museums, but (the trailer makes it seem like it) is more focused on T. rex pandering than communicating any science newer than 2009. I guess technically since 2014 since that’s when Anzu was named, but it was discovered in the 90s.
I really hope we’re wrong and it ends up as good as their Sea Monsters: a Prehistoric Adventure was back in the day, but I’m not hopeful after seeing Quetzalcoatus northropi once again shoehorned into Hell Creek instead of Q. lawsoni, since spectacle seems more important to it than science. There’s a ton of interesting animals from the Hell Creek formation that never even get mentioned in these things, like Leptoceratops, Thescelosaurus, Brachychampsa, Denversaurus- and not to mention the wide assortment of freshwater turtles that would be super cool to see, even if they were all the same model with different colors!
It’s really just a bit disappointing to see it go for every single easy tick off of the obvious-things-for-Tyrannosaurus-to-do that’ve been included in every single bit of media for ages instead of talking about something NEW! Show me Tyrannosaurus hunting from hundreds of feet away using its big ol’ eagle eyes, show me Edmontosaurus camouflaging into the trees because of it. Show me T. rex being unable to follow a Thescelosaurus into the trees, and have that wee bastard try to steal its eggs when it’s not looking. Show a Triceratops sitting in a pond, surrounded by basking turtles and crocodilians… there’s SO MUCH you can do with Tyrannosaurus and hell creek, and repeating the same tired tropes feels like the documentary is gonna be as flavorful as a piece of wood
TLDR: it doesn’t seem to do anything interesting or scientifically recent enough to warrant existing

some reptiles do have white sclera. komodos parrots some geckos and snakes. so it's not impossible for a dinosaur to have them.
