About channel ➤Railways are in the process of developing a highly fuel efficient system for its fleet of diesel locomotives, a move which will help the PSU behemoth save about Rs 500-600 crore annually on fuel bill and reduce emissions by 30 per cent.
Indian Railways operates 12000 trains everyday and half of them are hauled by the diesel locomotives. There are currently two types of locomotives being used over Indian Railways, the four stroke American Locomotive Company locomotives (ALCO) and the two stroke General Motors Electro Motive Division locomotives. There are commonalities as well as differences in these two locomotive engine technologies (EMD).For the past 6 decades ALCO locomotives are serving the nation and past 2 decades EMD locomotives are pressed into service. Salient features of these two technologies are not compared and as such this paper is an effort to compare the two engine technologies. All the major issues pertaining to locomotive engines are being compared in detail to have a good information of the same for a fair comparison.

5 thousand to 6 thousand liter

No safety norms the man filling diesel in the engine is without helmet safety shoes or even hand gloves is this the way railway's treat their employees whether he is permanent or on contract basis

I think they need some proper tools, not a brick, they need some gloves as diesel rots your skin and they need to be standing higher up as the pipe / valve connection is above their heads so not good for the back or shoulders. Not sure what the man at the start was messing about with but sure wasn’t putting diesel in.
