When is the time for harvesting berries? August and I’m seeing them everywhere. Can I take them now to make a tincture?

If they're dark, I'd say they're probably ready. A lot of them are ripe around me right now. I'm actually hoping to go get some this weekend! I would say now is a good time to use the berries for a tincture or whatever else you might want to use them for. Thank you!

Hmmm… I have the check my “Saskatoon” source as there were thorny bushes in the area which makes me think I actually made Hawthorn jam this summer. Lol

That or both were growing in the same area!

I often find them growing in the same areas, and I think they look pretty similar. Depending on the bushes, I think Saskatoon berries can also be similar to hawthorns in terms of taste with big seeds and not a lot of flavour. At least we know they're both edible! Thank you!
