- We've driven a lot of kilometres since we arrived in Australia in all types of terrain including bitumen, sand, gravel, rock and mud.
Our Cooper STT Pro tyres were in need of replacement.
A very good friend who also manages a Bridgestone centre was kind enough to offer to us a new set of Bridgestone Dueller MTs which we gratefully accepted.
In this video we cover the fitting and balancing of a new set of tyres sharing all the technical information with you.
Have you ever wondered what all the writing is about on the sidewall of your tyre? We share this with you in this video.
Join us as we travel the world overland, exploring the cultures and traditions of all the countries we visit.
In our Land Rover Defender camper which is our full time home we will take you rock climbing, hiking and exploring across all the continents on this planet.

Yay new tyres always makes the vehicle look & feel so much better. Look forward to seeing how well the Bridgestone M/Ts go for you.
Can’t wait to hear the review on the Bridgestones! What a good Chrissy gift safe travels guys!
Great video - great information about.
Thanks heaps mate, we had a great day at the shop.
Good old Aussie service. Merry Christmas guys. And a safe and healthy new year. Thx for all the great content...we're going to miss you here downunder.
Glad I watched this. My MTs are about 7 years old…guess it’s time for new tires!!! Yes!!!
Awesome video!! Bridgestone centre and Wyndan & Evelyn are so generous!!
I remember the old school tire centers here in the USA and watched them remount tires to get the balance so close before adding weights!!! Thats the true sign Bridgestone centre has some TOP NOTCH specialists working for them!! -CHEERS!!
Bears looking pretty on her shiny new set of tyres. Would really appreciate future updates on the performance of these Bridgestones from your prospective. Hope you both have a fantastic Christmas and New Year. Looking forward to joining you in your adventures in 2023. 🎄🍻😎👍
We will most definitely be giving updates on how these new tyres perform 😉
@@GrizzlyNbearOverland Fantastic look forward see hearing your thoughts. All the best.🥳👍
what great friends to have ..
merry christmas and safe driving, from england.
Hi Guys, also driving a 130. I am about to make a change so keen to hear what you think about the road noise on your new tyres and secondly what pressure are you using with you camper on the back. Safe travels and maybe see you in South Africa one day.
You are going to miss the Coopers so much!!
No one is using Bridgestones overlanding. . . Literally.
I’ve,run the same tyre on my disco 2 and my Kia Sportage ( in a 245/75/R16). On both cars no competes, what so ever, for a,mud terrai; tyre. They are quiet, grippy , and ride really well. Used in the NT as a road tyre.,our speed limit is 130 on the highway.. never had an issue and they inspired confidence. For a comparison Jumped,in my mates,Pajero a few weeks agowith BFG allterrains. The tyre noise wasHORRIFIC in c omparison.
I just wish Bridgestone would change the word ‘Dueler’ to proper English for Aussie stock; that is DUELLER. Lucky you, guys. Let’s see how they go. Best wishes for the EOY silly season. Cheers 👍🏻🙏🦘
Proper English doesn't apply to a registered brand name dude.
Greetings! I am a fan of your work and have been for some time. As this year is coming to a close, I just wanted to say thanks for inspiring me throughout 2022. I am grateful for your content.
merci et bonnes fêtes les petits loups !
New shoes for your baby. Surprising the Cooper did not hold up, I have heard they do well. We are running snow tires now with a real winter this year. Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas and stay safe and healthy.
Good explanations about the numbers on a tire.
Interesting. My Prado came with Dunlop AT's on it, but they lasted 70k km with mixed driving conditions. I changed to BFG AT's and got 120k km from those again mixed highway and outback station type conditions. Thet still had lots of tread on them but I changed them, because of the years and distance. SO I am back with another set of BFG AT's, and I don't think that anyone could convince me to change, unless they were paying for them and any associated issues that may arise. Happy travels.
Always great to get some new shoes. I know you reduced the diameter because of your front axle fiasco, did you choose to go narrower this time as well? 285's or 305's would really help that rear axle float in soft stuff but a lot of people like a narrow tread to cut through mud and snow. Perhaps where you're going has something to do with this?
Merry Christmas
Even a simple thing like getting new tires is interesting on your channel. Can’t wait to see where you are going next. Hopefully North and South America.
On va les utiliser avant l'arrivé de père noël. Joyeuse fêtes ☃️
Yay!
Gratos, bien joué !
Nice rig m8. I’m going skinny tires on my new 16’s for an over land boondocking set up. Going across Canada this year. God bless 🙏
I thought I noticed new boots last episode.
That was a generous gift! What went into your decision to choose that particular tire in the Brigestone lineup?
Because they were free. . .
Hi guys, why did you go for the white writing on the inside edge this time? Did you fancy a change? The truck looks amazing still as always!! Take care of yourself’s and all the best for the new year❤
Nexen MTX is my next tire, can get in 12 ply👍
Way is the blue mark in tires inside?
Should have gone "tart side" out on the tyres, but good work :)
Thought about it but the sidewall has more protection on the side we have facing out.
@GrizzlyNbear Overland that's weird, I thought they would be the same, and if anything would be made for tart side out. But if you have done for function over form then all good :)
@@KevIsOffGrid I've always been a white out on the tyres man. These were the first tyres I'd come across that weren't identical sidewalls.
I had three tyres blow up in two weeks between 5 and 20 km that were another brand. Since yesterday i have also Bridgstone wich i had already three years before... Hope they will last longer.... Have nice Xmas and new year and a good travel to the new continent. 🎅🎄🎊😎🇫🇷
You must have bought inner tubes for tires or went on some very nasty terrain. Two weeks in 5 to 20km sounds very very strange...
@@alwynvanwyk1851 No, only on the official road which leads to my house. Lots of Stones and 15degrees decending. The Tyres were always perforated at the flank, where it is not permitted to repair. The 4seasons have been recommanded by the Garage. From a big French tyre manufactorer. I came from the Garage to home, but on going down, pfffft. That never arrived in 27 years to me. 🤔😎🇫🇷
I never knew that TIRES spelled wyth the Y as TYRES
Why MT, why not AT?
What is the size of this tire being put on ? i mean the overall diameter. They look like 32 inch tires. Anyone care to provide the exact ? thanks
So, getting mud tyres on eh, that's interesting, wonder why????
I have Cooper's on my Isuzu Rodeo/MUX. I will never by them again. Sidewalls are weak. Weak tire in general. I run BF Goodrich KO2 now.
Someone tried to knife the sidewall and couldn't get through with multiple attempts.
No white writing to the outside for that old skool look ? 🙃
She says 5 year life span for tyres. Even the Bridgestone web site says 10 years. Salespeople!!!
You are 100% correct- I have a Bridgestone bulletin somewhere which confirms this
Legislation may be different to manufacture expectations.
@@offroadingfoz there is no state that can fail a rwc for tyre age only condition
The lady is probably more on wright side.
@@scruffymoose
As the lady at the tyre shop said, rubber is a perishable item, and it wears out.
Using a 10 year old tyre would be dangerous.
Even if a 10 year old tyre looks ok, ( which would be highly unlikely ) the rubber would have definitely deteriorated, and it would lack strength that is required, to handle the pressures and loads it endures when you are driving.
I thought the Tyre age limit was 6 years…
But, this time frame might differ across Australia, based on our States & Territories having their own specific Legislation regarding vehicle Tyre Age, and Tyre roadworthiness requirements ?
It does appear that in NSW, a maximum tyre age of 5 years, from the date of tyre manufacture, is the recommendation from
Roads & Traffic Authority.
A huge number of factors will determine the tread life of your tyre.
If the rubber on a 4 year old tyre is hard, and no longer supple, and has cracks on the sidewall etc, it definitely needs changing, even if it still has a lot of tread on it.
There are also a huge amount of cheap / poor quality Chinese made tyres, that are “ no name “ brands, sold in Australia.
Sadly, people buy these poor quality tyres, to save what is often only a small amount of $$$ v buying a quality tyre, such as a Pirelli or Michelin or some other reputable / well known brand of tyre.
Saving a small amount of $$$ by buying the new “ no name “
brand of Chinese made tyre is actually a big false economy.
Various independent tests prove these poorer quality tyres have worse grip levels, and braking ability etc v a comparable tyre from Pirelli or Michelin etc
And the cheaper
“ no name “ brand of Chinese made tyre, also wears out ( much ) quicker, due to its poorer quality.
No matter how good your vehicle is, that small contact patch of rubber, is the vehicles only connection to the road.
Food for thought…
It’s worth spending more, to buy good quality tyres, from the major tyre manufacturers.
Never understood why folk with vehicle lifts ,then struggle to lift tyres onto a vehicle when they could just drop the vehicle down to the wheel and save their back.
That Bridgestone M/T is not even sold in Europe or the USA. . . Why would you drop your tried and trusted Cooper STT Pro right upon leaving Australia? As you yourself have said, the Cooper has been great everywhere but Australia. . .
Oh you wont be happy with those tires. Sorry to that I have to say that.
Yep.
Ja Ja Ja, Cooper did serve it's purpose, and now that you are offered a free set of Bridgestones, loyalties changed as well, huh?
Good marketing stunt, let's see how it goes...
Each one to it's own, like Landies vs Toyota, Ford vs Fiat Uno and so on...
Could never afford the high end bracket tyres, thus my comment must be seen as just stirring sh!t...
We are waiting for you in Sunny South Africa, same conditions as Australia, with lots to see, lots of rock faces to climb, and nice people... Happy Christmas!
Ek glo die bande sal goed doen in Suid Afrika
better off getting bfg's
KM3s. . .
Yokohama Geolander G003 MT tyres in the size of 285/75r16 fairly light and better traction(when comparing the same sized tyre).
5:20 wrong
you are not going to like those tires
Yeah. Not what I would ever choose.
The cost to keep this Landy on the road is something to cry about. Ever thought about a Landcruiser?
OMG
What a dumb comment
Tyres do wear out on Toyotas…
And, it was a 6 year old ARB Air Compressor that stopped working. 🤷🏻♂️
I’ve been watching this channel for many years.
This Defender has been very reliable.
Considering the rough roads and terrain it is driven on, of course things wear out….
@@StephenFogarty2023 I do not agree. And you know why. Toyota far more reliable. Not a dumb comment. Reality.
@@theokriel ur right
We are driving our house around the world for 6 years now. Constant maintenance is to be expected.
The Landy has been super reliable over this time, not once have we broken down.
I always get a kick out of all the problems toyota people have but still think it is a great vehicle. Toyota's had to do frame replacements from rust out frames in a years time, many brake recalls and why do you need the biggest service center in the city if they never breakdown? There is recalls for well over a million vehicles for engine problems, the 2009 recall almost ended toyota in USA. Why would he go from something he can work on, that has been very good with all the abuse it gets hauling a camper to get a toyota?
There is only one tire and that is BF's
