    Ah, nice one Leo, Nice review, and you are the only person I know, other than one picture I can find who has actually taken the time to take it apart and study it's gubbins!
    I just knew I heard some good things about it, and wondered if the hype was justified, it appears it is, which is great stuff for Thomann. It appears to be a direct copy of the TRex Jnr, but far cheaper!
    NO WAY! REALLY, you'd send me it? I don't know what to say, that's amazing, I've never won anything on youtube before, I would be honored to accept this from you, THANK YOU, :-D

    You forget to mention that this one does not have an external power supply like many other isolated power distributors. I think it is a huge benefit to have a proper cable on the device and plug it into the 230 V outlet directly.

    • @leothemetal
      @leothemetal  3 роки тому +1

      Well, that wasn't a big issue for me. That was like second power supply for multiple stomp boxes that I've tried out in my life, first one was HB Powerplant. Both didn't have external power supply, so I had no experience with the ones that were powered with external power supply. However I made some sort of unboxing, so I don't know if it was necessary to mention it.
      Besides, I never had an issue with the units that were powered with external power supplies. The HB Iso series are smaller, lighter, provide more power, are isolated and you can plug those worldwide because they can handle anything from 100 up to 240 Volts. So, is it big advantage to have just a cable without any external power supplies? I don't know.

    Very useful review, thank you! I'm considering getting one of these because I only use a handful of pedals anyway. This should do nicely and it's really inexpensive compared to many other options.

    I use the daisy chain to power 5 pedals from one of the outputs, works great that way as long as the combined need of power for those pedals is less than 120 mA.

      @@leothemetal Probaly yeah, I have there overdrive and fuzz kinda pedals that have only little power need. I actually have a daisy chain in 2 of the Power Plant outputs, so I'm powering 12 pedals in total with it. Great unit for such a low price, was also glad to see you opened it in your review.

    • @leothemetal
      @leothemetal  5 років тому +1

      Well...I don't know. It might work with mooer, it might not, I don't have it to check it out. It might work with analog devices and daisy chain. You'd better check out on your own because I don't know what kind of equipment you have. And even if you send me a list of your equipment, it's probably totally different than mine. So...35 euros is not that much to try it out. But if you don't want to take a risk to buy some power supply that wouldn't be enough, save some money and buy Harley Benton Powerplant ISO 2 pro, it's 69 euro, and it can power as good as anything, and it's small and isolated.

    I have a problem, maybe you can help me: I have 3 Powerplant JR and one of them gets a little hot after 30 min and I feel some vibration if I touch the box of Powerplant Jr. It happens even if I connect pedals and they are off. Pedals connected are Tc Electronic Ditto mini, HoF mini, Flashback delay, MXR Corona Chorus and TC Electronic Vortex Mini. What can be this? Vibration + little heat. Thanks

    • @leothemetal
      @leothemetal  6 років тому +1

      I don't know. It may be a transformer, that is busted, or capacitors. If you can exchange a couple of capacitors and it fixes the problem than it's ok, if transformer is busted, then changing it might be more expensive than powerplant jr. itself.

    Hi, could I power two ore more pedals that amount to less than 120mA off of one output with this HB junior? thanks

    • @leothemetal
      @leothemetal  6 років тому

      Well, of course, you can, but why would you? If you want to use the daisy chain cable in a first place, you don't need 5 output power supply, just grab one that is cheaper and a daisy chain cable. But the whole point of using this power supply is because of all of its outputs are GALVANICALLY ISOLATED. Check Wikipedia if you don't know why it's important, or my video about original HB Powerplant, I've mentioned it there as well.
      ua-cam.com/video/hYmWPNfUwwA/v-deo.html
      The point is if you use a daisy chain cable, you create ground loops, the main cause of interference current, that leads to high pitch noise. So connecting multiple pedals to a single output doesn't make much sense.
      Hope this helps you.

    • @peterconnolly2704

    Hey Leo, i have a question.
    Is it possible to use the all 4 with the regular cable, and 1 with the long daisy cable? i mean, to power up more than 5 pedals. Or is it a nonsense? I dont have a clue!

    • @leothemetal
      @leothemetal  3 роки тому +1

      Hey alejandro. Thanks for question.
      well-what do you need to know about daisy chain cable? each output gives you 120 mA, so you have to check you stomp boxes, how much power do they need. For exaple-one pedal needs 40 mA, another one 30 mA and another one 45 mA. you siply add those numbers 30+40+45, you get 115 mA-thats what your pedals need. It is less than each output of Powerplant junior gives, in this case you can feed you pedals with one cable. if you add another pedal that requires for exaple 40 mA, the total power usage is 155-this is more than power supply can give. As long as you keep this rule in mind you can connect pedals the way you described.
      However-you might get noise because of ground loops (I explained it in the video about original powerplant ua-cam.com/video/hYmWPNfUwwA/v-deo.html ). If your pedals can work with daisy chain-go for it, however in this case you don't need this power supply, a couple of daisy chain cables and some basic power supply (like this onewww.thomann.de/de/thomann_nt_0910.htm) will do the job for half price of HB Powerplant junior. If you don't want to risk to get noise with ground loops you need halvanically isolated outputs, so you can check ISO series from HB Powerplant. They are slighly expensive, but still not so expensive as some VOODO LAB or CIOKS power supplies.
      ua-cam.com/video/wl1YXMQ9Faw/v-deo.html

    • @leothemetal
      @leothemetal  5 років тому +1

      Of course, it matters. In the video, this was an experiment about power requirements, to see if this power supply can handle 300 mA device. If you power two notes with 9 Volt you get a lot of scratchy noises, you do need 12 volts for it.
