I thought it was funny what they said about him being scared of kids and laughing about it, maybe he should have blurred the kids out, as it works for them I guess? Also, did you see the look on the face of the one without glasses when she said “woman inherits the earth”? I’ve never understood that aspect of their religion. What is it about women that scares them so much they have to suppress them? I know they’ll say they’re not, and that they are “protecting” them. From what, doing what they want to do, whatever it might be? Like what, going to school, driving a car, going outside without the presence of a man? Notice it’s not showing skin that’s the problem as the lawyer or game warden characters, both men, could wear shorts and not get blurred. It doesn’t matter that God created men and women, gotta hold them chics back! What a backwards way of thinking. I guess it’s because they are doing so well in furthering health and happiness in their areas of the world, they don’t need the brain power of 51% of the population to help solve their problems. Oh, wait, they still live in the 1500’s and people die needlessly from illnesses that were solved in the 1st world decades ago, but a ladies legs being exposed is the REAL problem. Notice too, the ultimate hypocrisy, they don’t like it to the point of covering it up, YET they kept right on watching it! I’ve noticed this stuff with these guys in the past and over looked most of it. No longer, it’s a thumbs down and unsubscribe for me. Not that they care if an American infidel leaves lol!

Guys, except for the closeup shots, this movie was all CGI. I can't tell you how jaw-dropping it was to see it in the theater for the first time. It was unprecedented. You only started to see this level of CGI with movies like The Abyss and Terminator 2. But this one leap-frogged everything by a mile! Other milestones came later like The Matrix, Lord of the Rings and Avatar. But none of them floored the audience like this movie.

“Practical Effects” The scenes of whole dinosaurs walking around were cutting edge CG, and alot of the closeup shots of them were real models or “practical effects”. I remember this came out when I was 10. I saw it in the theater and was totally obsessed with it. This movie rocked my world.

Cutting edge CGI, plus the foresight to know when you can cheat it. Specifically I'm referring to the first full view of the t-rex. It was purposely dark, and rainy because it hid a lot of the noticable signs of CGI at the time.

2:00 English word is Amber or the sap of a tree/plant which has fossilized into a rock. Amber is most commonly found in South America and China/Asia.
3:00 the machine is an shotgun shell - ground penetrating radar. :: Theyre using it like an x ray which is what’s weird and not very real but it’s a movie.. It’s a bit of a weird idea in general but it’s the same concept that they would use to dig oil. -> You dig a hole put in an explosive charge cover it in dirt and detonate it and a machine will pick up the shockwave of the explosive to tell the depth of the ground and how far the shock wave goes down into the soil and bounces back up. If the shock wave is deep then there’s nothing if the shockwave is shorter then average then something is down there usually oil.
You can tell how far down something is by how fast that shockwave returns. This is also similar to what they use to do in marine settings to find how deep the ocean is -> you let off an explosive charge and record on radar how far the shockwave goes down and returns to the equipment thus you get a measurement of how deep the ocean is to the bottom. Because its water you can find out several thousand feet soil is more compact so the shockwave doesn’t travel as far down.
(This practice is no longer done because aquatic explosions also kill a lot of animals so now they just use radar or sound waves rather then actual explosive charges.)
In the United States and Europe shotgun shells were commonly used in machinery typically farm equipment or machinery in remote areas - there are even tractors which if they were struggling to start would get a shotgun shell to be used to ‘fire up’ the engine. As the shell would explode and cause the spark to start an engine, again this is no longer done because technology has advanced but originally shotgun shells were much more frequently used in various ways.
22:00 well yes in the books she is an archeologist which I’m pretty sure comes with a doctorate, she should be able to call herself a doctor : as it’s more of a title of schooling rather then medical practices.
-> However she specializes in scientific records of plants not animals - her job was to find plant fossils their meanings and how they grew and evolved. in the books her research into plants is what Hammond uses to recreate around the park, unbeknownst to her, in order to make the environment feel like an old world.
In the beginning of the movie she picks up a leaf and says that it’s an extinct species that’s several millions of years old. Meaning Hammond not only found ways to make dinosaurs but bioengineering olds plants that the dinosaurs would be vaguely familiar with. -> In the novels these plants were highly toxic spreading toxins through water/skin contact and She gets upset as Hammond planted them for decoration around pools which when they grow pollen would contaminate the water and be able to kill a small child-harm adults. So from the beginning she’s fascinated that he was able to grow the plants but upset that he didn’t understand them and how dangerous the plants were. In the books the dinosaurs were already very sickly and the plants would often poison them as well in growing cycles of the plants reaching maturity so every few months of the year you would have a bunch of sick/dead dinosaurs from just eating the toxic plants.
// in the movie they call it West Indian lilac and say it’s a ground plant which is odd because lilacs are trees and that specific type already grows commonly today meaning it’s not an ancient variety but one planted for aesthetic. -> The plant I think they’re suggesting: is similar to West Indian nightshade. Which would be a ground dwelling vine that tends to grow on and around other plants in shaded areas (nightshade is poisonous while lilacs are edible)
however nightshade is known as ‘the bastard - unkillable plant’ which is funny in extremely old records from the 1600-1700’s : because it grows on nearly every continent and in even toxic soil etc it’s just a very neat plant that evolved to survive harsh living conditions to the point it can really grow anywhere and everywhere and being so toxic that animals can’t eat it or reduce its population as the plant takes over an area and chokes out other plant species as it’s a vine… nightshade also was harvested by humans and selectively breed to then become edible giving way to eggplants and tomatoes as a common variety of the same genius/species.
So West Indian lilac is a strange thing to say as poisonous but the idea that it has black toxic berries and is ground dwelling and grows near healthy plants and is one of the oldest variety of plants that has existed since Pangea before the continents moved into their modern positions-> West Indian nightshade fits that rubric/description. As it’s an extremely old plant that lives on every continent since it most likely evolved when all the continents were 1 big conglomerate landmass.
Doesn’t really take someone being a doctor to say ‘don’t eat wild random plants they may be toxic and kill you.’ That’s common knowledge however to a dinosaur which doesn’t know when/where it is a plants a plant and they may eat it mistakenly. Which is sort of the point she’s going for in the scene.

Funnily enough, in THIS movie, the first movie to make so much use of cgi to portray living creatures, the cgi was better than the practical effects. And the practical effects were well-done, I'm not saying they're not. But this is a movie I can point to when anti-cgi morons try to say cgi must not be used (in any movie they care about). The problem is not cgi. The problem which gives cgi a bad name is BAD cgi, that is, cgi that's quickly and cheaply done and dropped in, perhaps by people not skilled in the tools and not utilizing them well.

    • @LightMovies
      @LightMovies 7 днів тому

@@BattleAngelFan99 Any director prefers to use practical when and where he can. No matter how good the CG is, the practical is real. The clade Dinosauria (biological group of related organisms) is defined today as a group of reptiles that includes the most recent common ancestor of Triceratops and modern birds and all of its descendants. Therefore, as Velociraptor and T-rex (for example) are Theropod Dinosaurs, bird also are and even quite close to the raptors (nowadays we know raptors were feathered). The notion that the group Dinosauria is extinct is untrue really, as birds originate well within the group.
The "flying dinosaurs" you mention are the Pterosaurs (sadly extinct entirely, the only group of flying vertebrates that is extinct as a whole), not being Dinosaurs themselves but a sister group within Archosauria.
Archosauria = Crocodiles + Ornithodira (Pterosaurs + Dinosaurs (including birds)). If the idea of bird and crocodile being distantly related is still too weird today, I suggest observing the embryos of chicken and crocodile in various stages, it speaks for itself 😁
Regarding the intelligence it's hard to know, but regarding the brain size relative to overall size etc. probably some today's birds (like corvids and parrots) are the most intelligent dinosaurs of all time.
The Dinosaurs could achieve their massive sizes, because the inner structure of their bones is hollow and quite bird-like. They were not THAT heavy as simmilarly sized mammal would be. That also is true for the Pterosaurs, being almost better and more economical in structure and weight than the birds themselves.

Great choice! Another Steven Spielberg classic. I was working at a movie theater in 1993 and you could hear the T Rex roaring in the lobby. This and Terminator 2 pushed in the future of CGI but both James Cameron and Spielberg were wise enough to incorporate practical puppets and clever editing which is why these films still hold up. The theme of this movie goes all the way back to the 19th century novel “Frankenstein” which is about the hubris of man creating life and then thinking he can control it. Fun fact: “the black guy” wasn’t a well known actor in 1993 but he became legendary! His name is Samuel L Jackson and he is an academy award nominee and has over 200 credits to his name. Please keep the videos coming and I’ll keep following. Take care.

And everyone cheered and clapped when t-Rex bellows at the end. Still gives me chills. I’m so glad this movie has held up the way it has. The director, Steven Spielberg, is a genius at this type of movie. So many amazing classics he’s made. ET, Saving Private Ryan, Jaws, the first 3 Indiana Jones movies… that’s just scratching the surface. Labeling women as harlots because they don't following stupid Muslim dress codes is insane, ignorant, oppressive and asinine. Also, if a person is in a hot climate, in jungles or deserts, they shouldn't have to wear as many clothes. Making women cover up from head to toe in such climates in particular is unhealthy and misogynistic. Plus, she is a Western woman who has more independence and freedom to choose than the women of Northern Africa and the Middle East can only dream of.

Oh he's long gone alright, in one of the video games he's found weeks later, but about 3 years later that shaving cream container would be found by Bioson, oh and fun fact they filmed this in a actually hurricane, Morgan Freeman was able to be there to do Arnold's death due to his flight being on hold until the hurricane passed so they did his death like that, and one of the people on set to maintain the animatronics actually almost died inside the mouth of Rexy the T-Rex when the rain caused it wiring and mechanics to go haywire, but was saved thankfully and managed to repair it for the rest of the film and the next 2 movies, but it was pretty good still

    T. rex didn't have movement based vision, it had binocular vision, so it had depth perception.
Dilophosaurus didn't have a frill or spit venom.
Real Velociraptors are about the size of a large turkey. They used a larger species of dromaeosaur for this movie.

It could also see into a broader light spectrum of which humans cannot see all colors (having better vision than humans (tbf mammals in general aren't too good withcolors, we kinda lucked out). the raptors they've based it on weren't that big however a new raptor species was recently discovered which was much larger. and t-rex was build for speed, taking his size also into account plus their light frame and semi hollow bones it must've been incredibly fast and easily pick off the weak and the stragglers. every year many new species get discovered by undermanned and underfunded peoples. if only a fraction of the spending that goes into complete nonsense, war and profit optimization would go towards the peleo sciences then we could have a new discovery every week, a big discovery monthly and a revolutionary one yearly most likely.

During the T-Rex rain scene, the mechanical rex malfunctioned and they sent an engineer to fix it in the belly and was almost crushed to death when the mechanics twitched so technically, someone was almost really eaten by a dino.

Did you hear about the work of Dr Mary Schweitzer? She discovered preserved soft tissue in dinosaur bones that even had intact red blood cells and DNA fragments. So it turns out, we don't even need mosquitoes. Whether they can actually put together the entire DNA and then recreate a dinosaur is another question.

so for me personally i find the raptors to be the scariest dinosaurs. because they can go anywhere we can go and theyre realy fast. sure T-rex is too big to fight off but its also too big to fit most places. run into a cave or a bunker and rex cant follow but the raptors can you have to kill them. you cant escape them. also that genuine jump when you guys spooked by the raptor in the power station XD here have a like for your trouble. hope u have a wonderful day

For the record, evidence suggests that most dinosaurs were not actually cold-blooded, and had some level of internal temperature regulation. They also state repeatedly that dinosaurs evolved into birds, but it has recently become understood that it was the other way around. Primitive birds became dinosaurs, but it was not until after the extinction of the dinosaurs that birds developed beaks & became recognizable as what we know as birds today.

Occasionally, a movie comes along that everyone loves, except for me. I've never felt more disappointed by any movie than how I felt when I saw this at age 23 in 1993. I'm a fan of really bad monster movies from the 1950s and 1960s, and "Jurassic Park" seemed to me like one of those bad movies, only with amazing special effects.
