I actually started a new play through a few weeks ago...not realizing there was an update coming. So my question is...can I play single player with the new map? My game save implements the updates, but it's the same map. Do I have to start a new game? My son is 8 now.
I have looted over 5k. Im in autumn, only sold 150 roasted meat and have over 6 k coins. I have been all over the map. Lots of waterfalls. Yes I have climbed them all :D I set my season to 30 days. just to run the map. Also got coins from quests.

They should add a sandbox mode for those who just want to build I think you will still have to chop trees and stuff but you will have unlimited money or something
Hey, thanks for the informations about the new hunting economy system :) Just want to add, there's a more op thing at the moment (2.0.0.1a); theft. In the oxbow, they added actual loot to villager homes, ranging from sticks to bronze pickaxes, usually netting wares around 200 coins worth. So rob them blind, take the caravan to another city and sell it all :) Bonus tip, the house directly to the west of the market in Piastovia always contains coins and trinkets worth 3790 coins (!!).
Thievery was something I considered putting into the video because, as you point out, there is an absurd amount of loot for the taking now. I didn't want to bloat this video though so that may have to be a future vid
You can get an iron crossbow for free if you find the right loot spot. First thing I buy are the simple large backpack and large pouch. The simple large backpack can be found as loot as well if you want.
Better use that money to buy some winter clothes too cause the weather is more harsh in this new area, you start getting cold in autumn now and winter is harsh.
Just started tonight, and talked to everyone you mentioned. The starter chest has been heavily nerfed and no longer offers all of the stuff you got. The first little abandoned village you showed did not have the iron spiked cudgel on top of the barrel, but did have the other loot mentioned in the other building.
Just tested on the new update 2.0.0.1a and the iron spiked cudgel does appear to have been removed. However, the starter chest was just as before for me. I'm not on any pre-build so there shouldn't be a difference in what I'm seeing. Did you talk to the 3 characters for their quest dialogue specifically or was it other generic dialogue? The chest only populates the large amount of loot once you complete the introductory quest which concludes when you speak to Derwan. Otherwise it will have nothing or only a few small things for the new-to-the-game quest if you chose to go that route
@@phobiahavoc Yep, I talked to and completed the quests. The starter loot DID finally show up in my 2nd year, but was not there at all throughout the entire first year. The only quests I had held onto throughout that time were two from the town board; one for making knives, and another for turning in 70 beetroot, and the only other thing that changed was my skill levels and technology levels. Pity about the cudgel though, could have used that from the start.
Interesting. I wonder if it somehow bugged maybe? I have yet to have a start where the loot didn't spawn in that chest on day 1 and I have started the new map probably 40ish times now for testing and verifying everything
@@phobiahavoc Weird! I have no clue, this is my first and only playthrough so far. But I might be starting up a new one in co-op with a friend next weekend so I'll check it again at that point and report back.

I don't get how people talk about hunting deer as if it's simple. They never stand still. Even if you sneak up on them, it does no good because they run around at random, which means at some point they'll randomly run in your direction and spot you. I had killed wolves, boars, bears, and wisent before I ever managed to kill a deer, and it was exhausting. Maybe when I maximize sneak and start using camouflage potions....
Yes, you can adjust the options for season length from the pause menu. Once you're in game. However, season length changes don't take effect until the next season
Hunting is waaay to difficult in this game. I cant manage to kill any deer with the bow because the arrows never hit even though i have 100% hit my target.

You have to set food, water, and firewood in the house chests otherwise as your population grows, they’ll be without those things and they’ll leave once unhappy enough. Not sure if that’s what they were doing but yeah. Just to explain why we’d put meat and stuff in seemingly random boxes.
Wow, as a brand-new player of this game, you sure did skip over a lot of details, some of which I found very frustrating to figure out how to do since the game provide so little, or no hints. Questions for co-op do everyone share inventory ? Can everyone pick up items their self’s (this pretty much goes with the share inventory question) ? For character creation can you make a darker skin character?
You have individual inventories. Everyone can pick up everything but that item goes into their personal inventory not a shared one. And yes, there is a slider for darker skin in character creation - though, to put it delicately, it certainly does not cover the whole range of human ethnicity in its current state. The darker skin is more akin to a good tan - again, this is just early access. I have no knowledge if they intend to change this or not. My guess is that they are trying to keep the game time-period accurate for that geographic region like the Witcher games but I can't speak for the devs.

Well there is good news and bad news to that. The bad news is that the update they made today made the deer startle from further away (best I can tell anyways). The good news is that they made certain animals far easier to take down. The Wisent (for example) now has an aggro animation before it starts charging which makes it pretty easy to drop them with 2 headshots from the iron crossbow. I think they may have lowered their health a little bit as well. Overall, I think it makes sense to have hunting be overpowered being it would genuinely be profitable to bring that much meat back to the village in that setting. Best tip I have for hunting is to just fast-track the crossbow. It is far easier to aim and most animals drop in 1 shot if you hit the head.
Not to be rude, but the purpose of this game is to Xpress yourself, and to find your own way. If you are treating this like a Warzone loadout or meta-league of legends champion you’re doing it wrong. People should find a place they want to settle because it’s the place they love.
