As soon as I saw the tweet saying that Sukuna respects his mom in the way he addressed her (and called her poor/stupid but with humble intent) instantly wondered if there’s something with his mom that forever shaped his current views and ideals. Of course, still take it with a grain of salt. This chapter had several different translations, some that didn’t give the same meaning. Hopefully we just get the backstory in the future!
I could see Kenjaku following Sukuna's family bloodline and "pruning" superfluous family members so there is a manageable number of potential inheritors of the twin's soul for him to be able to track.
I really like how gege‘s drawn the difference between yuji and sukuna‘s applications of shrine to show the diff in effectiveness. Yuji using black perforated lines with scissor marks vs sukuna‘s white lines. Both the black and the scissors showing that he‘s still actively thinking about the process of applying the technique onto the target rather than just doing it and the perforated lines can demo the inferior output/efficacy of it as well as how yuji has interpreted the technique (creating a weakness/point along which shrine breaks apart it‘s target). Whereas sukuna‘s are solid white lines. The solid white being simply more precise and efficient but also possibly reflects how he uses/sees his application of the technique. i.e. it just deletes things (it being a drawing the use of white can be representative of a eraser or deleting something). the lack of any markers besides the white line can also be interpreted to show how sukuna uses his technique freely as if it were just another aspect of his body vs thinking about the process.
He is also much more precise with the cutting, as you can see when he cuts the pillar, it's a perfect cut on both sides and both are horizontal as well, meanwhile Sukuna is more of a cut and dice until it disappears into dust.

Yuji cutting the pillar in order to use it as a throwable object, therefore he *needs* it to break away in a manner he can cleanly grab and separate, where sukuna typically just makes the person he‘s fighting as the target of the slash. We have seen Sukuna be very precise his cuts before when he wishes to be (innate domain against yuji (cleanly slices through his head), fingerbearer (not lowering his output enough aside, all 5 cuts are perfectly parallel, after digesting 10 fingers (targets his horizontal slash to a height that just clips jogos head for not bowing on two knees), dimensional slash on gojo (hits perfectly horizontally through his gut)).
This was the best breakdown I’ve seen. The fact that there’s a reason why Yuji was tanking those slashes other than being built insanely strong is spot on and probably one of the reasons why uncle/daddy was pissed 😂.

I deffo think that we can see "open" next chapter, even if the black flashes dont give extra oomph to the soul punches they are deffo doing damage. I think sukuna after that last black flash is going to be super pissed, he was already losing his composure before and then got hit with another black flash. My prediction would be that he gets super pissed and uses open to show yuji how its done (assuming "open" is related to shrine) since itadori was also using shrine and i think that would kinda be a good way in sukuna's mind to demoralize yuji since he's trying to break him. What happens after idk i hope yuta pulls up again maybe to help with "open" and miguel is still pretty much in top shape if gege wants to keep him around but idk thats just what i think
Theory! The Shrine Technique was originally Yuji's dad's technique, but Sukuna gained it after devouring him (or fusing); while the fire is Sukuna's original technique. What I'm assuming is that Sukuna had to make a pact that he couldn't use his flame technique unless he's under a certain condition (unlocking the box), but because he made it that way, he has free access to the Shrine. Also, I think we may be seeing Yuji using his own version of Malevolent Shrine this week.

No, Yuji's ability to damage souls is because of his nature as a vessel as he can see the contours of different souls. This was already explained with his fight against Mahito and now amplified thanks to Yuki's research book

You know what? I’m starting to think that whole dying to win and winning to die is gonna become a huge factor in these final stages and I keep thinking how it’s gonna end with yuji possibly having to die because he literally has a finger of sukunas sealed within him and he’s basically an “empty shell” but the way the story is written I think megumi is gonna have his final stand and somehow someway save Yuji and take down Sukuna once and for all. He’s definitely gonna play a factor in the merger for sure. Megumi couldn’t save his sister but the story started with him wanting to save yuji from a cruel fate after consuming the first finger.
As much hype as the current events have, I have a feeling Yuji is the one to die at the end because technically, none of his friends + allies are confirmed dead (Ui Ui is shown to teleport the wounded ASAP, so no proof of dead bodies), including Nobara. Her head wound/bleeding out was halted by Nitta with no confirmation of death afterwards, Gojo's body with his head left intact disappeared (most likely taken offscreen by Ui Ui), and Megumi is still alive inside Sukuna. Also in Gojo's near-death experience, Nobara wasn't present and we saw that Nanami said Gojo went South, implying he isn't becoming someone new. Like mentioned before, the other allies that were gravely wounded in this Attack on Sukuna fight were also rescued with no death confirmations, so it may seem like everyone's dead but it might be that Gege is making it seem that way to build for a twist at the end. My theory is that Gege will have Yuji save Megumi by soul-swapping with him and then the former will take over Sukuna's body to fight the Merger (might come to fruition). Yuji, at his all-time peak of power and in full control of Sukuna, will be just strong enough to beat the Merger with extreme difficulty but at the cost of his life. It would be a suicide mission that he succeeds in while at death's door. It could be that Megumi activates the Merger but has a change of heart afterwards and helps Yuji, with the latter dealing the final blow while also receiving fatal damage. This would mean Yuji dies, all main villains are killed, and everyone lives (then we get the typical shonen time skip at the end where Nobara, Gojo, Megumi, and all other allies are alive and well) and the manga finishes with a happy ending. TL,DR: Gege is deceiving us and everyone lives at the end, yuji becomes a martyr, and my copium becomes hopium (let me cope 😭)

It's an incorrect perspective since you're deriving the purpose/nuances of why Yuji ate the death paintings. Your statement makes it outright that Yuji is the _Greater Evil_ between the two of them since he "does it out of spite", when that's not the case at all.
People aren't saying that _Yuji didn't eat it to give himself an edge to fight Sukuna._ Absolutely no one's arguing you there.
The missed nuances you're purposefully LEAVING OUT, is that Choso also willingly handed it to Yuji so that their brothers can LIVE on THROUGH Yuji. Yuji _wouldn't eat the Death Paintings_ without Choso's permission/blessing, he would have chosen other alternatives other than to hurt another person that way.
Yuji might be hellbent on giving Sukuna his just desserts, but that doesn't pervert/transfigure his selfless altruistic nature to help others/put others before himself. That's the _whole fucking point of his character_
Sukuna ate his Twin out of necessity, but also out of sheer selfishness, he could have sacrificed himself for the betterment of the other twin, but he didn't; he chose himself.
Yuji on the other hand, was given the permission/blessings to go ahead and do it, while also doing it for an _altruistic purpose_ of having an increased chance of stopping Sukuna to potentially save more people. You can even see the panel that Yuji feels remorse for doing it, and Choso reassures him that it's fine since they'll be able live through Yuji.

I really like how gege‘s drawn the difference between yuji and sukuna‘s applications of shrine to show the diff in effectiveness. Yuji using black perforated lines with scissor marks vs sukuna‘s white lines. Both the black and the scissors showing that he‘s still actively thinking about the process of applying the technique onto the target rather than just doing it and the perforated lines can demo the inferior output/efficacy of it as well as how yuji has interpreted the technique (creating a weakness/point along which shrine breaks apart it‘s target). Whereas sukuna‘s are solid white lines. The solid white being simply more precise and efficient but also possibly reflects how he uses/sees his application of the technique. i.e. it just deletes things (it being a drawing the use of white can be representative of a eraser or deleting something). the lack of any markers besides the white line can also be interpreted to show how sukuna uses his technique freely as if it were just another aspect of his body vs thinking about the process.
He is also much more precise with the cutting, as you can see when he cuts the pillar, it's a perfect cut on both sides and both are horizontal as well, meanwhile Sukuna is more of a cut and dice until it disappears into dust.

Yuji cutting the pillar in order to use it as a throwable object, therefore he *needs* it to break away in a manner he can cleanly grab and separate, where sukuna typically just makes the person he‘s fighting as the target of the slash. We have seen Sukuna be very precise his cuts before when he wishes to be (innate domain against yuji (cleanly slices through his head), fingerbearer (not lowering his output enough aside, all 5 cuts are perfectly parallel, after digesting 10 fingers (targets his horizontal slash to a height that just clips jogos head for not bowing on two knees), dimensional slash on gojo (hits perfectly horizontally through his gut)).
This was the best breakdown I’ve seen. The fact that there’s a reason why Yuji was tanking those slashes other than being built insanely strong is spot on and probably one of the reasons why uncle/daddy was pissed 😂.

I deffo think that we can see "open" next chapter, even if the black flashes dont give extra oomph to the soul punches they are deffo doing damage. I think sukuna after that last black flash is going to be super pissed, he was already losing his composure before and then got hit with another black flash. My prediction would be that he gets super pissed and uses open to show yuji how its done (assuming "open" is related to shrine) since itadori was also using shrine and i think that would kinda be a good way in sukuna's mind to demoralize yuji since he's trying to break him. What happens after idk i hope yuta pulls up again maybe to help with "open" and miguel is still pretty much in top shape if gege wants to keep him around but idk thats just what i think

Theory! The Shrine Technique was originally Yuji's dad's technique, but Sukuna gained it after devouring him (or fusing); while the fire is Sukuna's original technique. What I'm assuming is that Sukuna had to make a pact that he couldn't use his flame technique unless he's under a certain condition (unlocking the box), but because he made it that way, he has free access to the Shrine. Also, I think we may be seeing Yuji using his own version of Malevolent Shrine this week.

Maybe blackbox/open is sukuna's twin's ability. This could explain as to why he seemingly has 2 techniques along with his 2nd set of limbs, eyes, and mouth. Could also maybe explain as to why Yuji's dad never became a sorcerer even though he was related to the strongest in history but having his technique and energy stolen and still inside sukuna's fingers. You know what? I’m starting to think that whole dying to win and winning to die is gonna become a huge factor in these final stages and I keep thinking how it’s gonna end with yuji possibly having to die because he literally has a finger of sukunas sealed within him and he’s basically an “empty shell” but the way the story is written I think megumi is gonna have his final stand and somehow someway save Yuji and take down Sukuna once and for all. He’s definitely gonna play a factor in the merger for sure. Megumi couldn’t save his sister but the story started with him wanting to save yuji from a cruel fate after consuming the first finger.
Im starting to think that The Shrine was Sakuna’s twins original CT and the “Open/Flame” is Sakuna’s OG CT.
As much hype as the current events have, I have a feeling Yuji is the one to die at the end because technically, none of his friends + allies are confirmed dead (Ui Ui is shown to teleport the wounded ASAP, so no proof of dead bodies), including Nobara. Her head wound/bleeding out was halted by Nitta with no confirmation of death afterwards, Gojo's body with his head left intact disappeared (most likely taken offscreen by Ui Ui), and Megumi is still alive inside Sukuna. Also in Gojo's near-death experience, Nobara wasn't present and we saw that Nanami said Gojo went South, implying he isn't becoming someone new. Like mentioned before, the other allies that were gravely wounded in this Attack on Sukuna fight were also rescued with no death confirmations, so it may seem like everyone's dead but it might be that Gege is making it seem that way to build for a twist at the end.
My theory is that Gege will have Yuji save Megumi by soul-swapping with him and then the former will take over Sukuna's body to fight the Merger (might come to fruition). Yuji, at his all-time peak of power and in full control of Sukuna, will be just strong enough to beat the Merger with extreme difficulty but at the cost of his life. It would be a suicide mission that he succeeds in while at death's door. It could be that Megumi activates the Merger but has a change of heart afterwards and helps Yuji, with the latter dealing the final blow while also receiving fatal damage.
This would mean Yuji dies, all main villains are killed, and everyone lives (then we get the typical shonen time skip at the end where Nobara, Gojo, Megumi, and all other allies are alive and well) and the manga finishes with a happy ending.
TL,DR: Gege is deceiving us and everyone lives at the end, yuji becomes a martyr, and my copium becomes hopium (let me cope 😭)
