I couldn't make this stuff up

- I drove up into NSW for a bit of photography, fishing and exploring last week. I decided to try a new fishing spot that I found. I have fished further downstream in an anabranch of this creek, but had never fishing this spot. The only thing I expected to catch was carp, but then a series of really unexpected catches unfolded. .
To make it even more unusual, was that every single catch, and every single bite was all on the one fishing rod. My second fishing rod sat merely 5 meters away all afternoon and didn't gett a touch.

Another awesome video mate, loved it all, I am still beating the same amount of eggs I used to do, BUT.
Hahahahahaha thanks Gav.
as a child my parents had to rush my older brother off to hospital because he was peeing red, turned out he had eaten a full tin of beetroot but was too scared to say anything about that
OMG seriously? Your poor parents must have been horrified. LOL
LOL! Beetroot will DO that!
@@robbiefishing my brother used to vaccum the fridge, it was why i was bone skinny till i started making money and feeding myself, he always ate everything before i got to it lol, so, i guess it was a little bit of justice
That introduction is brilliant!!
Hahaha Hey EmYou 🤣🤣🤣
@Nathan McCreadie agreed
Nice shots of the birds.
Thanks Andy, photography is my second hobby behind fishing.
lol, you are funny mate, lots in zingas in a row! truly raughing out roud! hahah
hahahaha Thanks mate, it makes me happy to know that you got a laugh.
Unbelievable. You’re right, you couldn’t make this stuff up and nobody would believe it if it wasn’t on film. Another great video Robbie. Cheers.
Thank you so much Glen. What's even weirder is that all of the action was on one rod. The other rod didn't get a touch. LOL
Cracking stuff rob ...thank you..

you are on my Christmas card list 😎🇬🇧
Hahaha thanks you so much my friend.

Love this one Robbie, I now live in NE Vic but was born in Narrandera, my 93 yo dad still lives there. I fished lots of that creek as a kid. I like the editing on this, you should include more of your wildlife and landscape shots, Cheers
Thank you so much. WOW full respect to your old man. That's what clean country air does to you.
Thank you so much for you compliment on my photography. I will hopefully be including it in a fee more videos down the track as a number of people have made the same suggestion. Thank you.
Great show as always thanks mate... Loved the beat the egg and beetroot joke haha..her's an old one for you,

Thanks so much for watching. Always a great time in the Riverina. I love it out there.
Love your videos the rain can be crazy 😜 sometimes it’s crazy raining then it will stop then go again 👍

Welcome to Riverina hope you enjoy ya stay in the part of the country
Thanks Sage. I absolutely love the Riverina and can't wait to get back up there. I am hoping to head up next week after out lockdown ends but am a bit scred in case there is changes to the border rules and I get stuck in NSW. LOL
Very funny .... really like watching you on your adventures.. thanks for taking us along
Hi Cory thanks so much mate. Life is one big adventure isn't it. Casting monster lures and catching monster fish isn't my thing.... I just love a good adventures. A new spot, a new species, I just love it.

Ho George thank you so much mate.
Great video Robbie! Really love those widlife shots. I reckon you caught almost one of everything that lives in there.
Thanks Damien, haha I can't wait to go back there in the warmer months.
Ha ha, well that was different, Robbie! Definitely a cray magnet to do that. Loved the bird shots, especially the ones with the big drumsticks. Not a great time to be a mouse, eh? You definitely snuck that one in. Very envious from up here in the lockdown. Keep 'em coming mate, enjoying the variety. Cheers PP
Thanks so much Glen. I hope you're all hanging in and staying safe up there mate.
Well done for doing the miles mate. I would've chucked in a swag and had an overnighter. Awesome as always. Cheers 👍🤠
I will give you one thing, you are a man on a mission when it comes to catching carp lol. But you did it in the reverse you caught the bait for the fish you were chasing. Then ended up catching something unexpected, this is why I enjoy your channel.
Love the images as well that you took, especially the falcon with the mouse, given the current plague in rural Australia it is a perfect representation for the current issue with the mice.
that crazzie!! thanks for sharing.
Hey Jason thanks mate. I certainly didn't expect to catch a yabby on my fishing rod when I headed out that day. Haha
Love those nets you used. Best I’ve ever had.
Thabks mate, I agree. Excellent nets.
Yanco Creek is my backyard Robbie. Your interpretation of the Crayfish rules is spot on. Unusual catches for sure but I suspect all the wet weather is responsible. Thanks for posting your unusual results.
Thanks Neil. You are a lucky man mate, beautiful area you there. How ironic that u caught everything on the 1 rod, and the other rod didn't get a bite.
I want to go back up but I'm not game enough incase Victoria locks me out. LOL
I lost a fat carp on the Murray a couple days ago. Easily 80-90cm long this thing was massive. Was fighting it for about 40 minutes just to lose it to a simple head twist as soon as it touched the surface of the water. This video cheered me up 👍
WOW What a monster. Thanks so much for your kind words mate.
Love your voice and accent mate. I'm from Idaho in the US. The fishing looks super fun where your at. Watched alot of your videos and always love your adventures!
Thank you so much mate. I love America. What an amazing country. I've been there once and hope to return some day.
Really good to see all them small Cray's. I used to catch big old male freshwater crayfish as a kid in the rainforests near Gippsland at a little place called Carringal Scout camp. They are different to the Murray Cray's, they didn't have big spikes on their tales and didn't have white claws. They were like a gigantic blue yabbie with claws that would cut tour finger off. Back then we would throw the females with orange eggs back but now days I just catch them and release. Some of the huge Cray's I've caught would have to be 50-100 years old. Not much meat and I don't feel 'right' eating such an old special species thats at times threatened. I wish to see my children catch them. The stream came from snow from mountains & looked very similar to the streams Rob goes trout fishing in.
Thanks so much mate. I agree with you. I fond it hard to eat something so old, which is why I have not kept a Murray cray all season.
I just love.cstching them and am happy to release them.
This Gippsland crayfish look awesome. I've never caught one but have seen heaps of photos. Hopefully I can catch one some day.
I'm glad that you came up here and enjoyed our nature.
Thanks Noah, I absolutely love it up there mate. Do you live up that way?
@@robbiefishing yes I live in the riverina
That was fun. The hawk/Eagle was amazing. Thanks Robbie . Dad jokes on point.
Thanks so much Deb. As a lover of wildlife photography, I was stoked to capture that bird eating the mouse. I couldn't believe the amount of mice on the road, especially when I was driving home at night. Once I got south of Urana their numbers dropped off.
During the day every second bird thay flew over was carrying a mouse. Haha
@Nathan McCreadie Thanks so much buddy.
@Nathan McCreadie Hey buddy, no definitely a mouse mate. They were everywhere, especially when I was driving home at night.
I really enjoyed this video, one of your best.
Thank you socmuch for your wonderful comment mate.
nice to see the small crays being caught in that area. I have some great friends who live in morundah and spent many yrs camping on the ither side of the bridge. Those big shrimp cook up well and taste beautiful, you should catch a big batch try them. 👍
G'day mate, great to hear from you. I did do one once but it wasn't great.... I only caught about 4 small shrimp. Haha I will definitely do it again.
I'm keen to get back up there because I love that area, but this border closure stuff is an issue.
We used to get yabbies in Albert Park lake. But not with your traps, we tied liver to a length of fishing line, then pulled it in and used a fish tank skimmer to catch the yabbies as the clung onto meat. No one does this method, give it a crack next time Robbie, was very successful for us and fun !
Thanks Tony. That is so much fun. I wouldn't say that nobody does it anymire though, I have videos on my channel of me doing it with both yabbies and crayfish.
Robbie fishing. You Rock the kasbah keep it up mate. I hope full-time work on UA-cam is doing well.
Haha thanks so much Elliot. I'm absolutely loving it mate.
Great video Robbie. I thought you were going to put the yabbie and shrimp back out on the hook. Lol. I would have done. Lol. I know of a dam up in the mountains where i live that is very shallow where i can get yabbies that size all winter just by walking around the edge of it at night and picking them up. Cheers Robbie and may the fish gods be with you and Holly because she makes me laugh. What a great kid.
Thanks so much Edwin. Holly is a great kid, she is my absolute hero.
I would have definitely put the shrimp on as bait if I wasn't about to leave, but nit so much the yabby.
I seem to do really well with yabbies in lakes, but not in rivers for some reason, whereas shrimp are just a dynamite bait that work anywhere. LOL
@@robbiefishing shrimp are my fav got bait aswel. Big shrimp big yellas.
Plenty fish all species and Cray's to mate I no that spot very well hope you had a great day in my water way👍👍👍
Hi John, do you live up that way? I would absolitely love to own a holiday house I Urana. Haha I would spend more time there than I do at home. I usually follow at Widgiewa or Coonong. I just love that area so much.
I caught my new Pb trout the other day Robbie , 3.1lb ,21 inches , tight lines
WOW what a ripperate, well done.
My biggest carp is 35 lb on a bow and arrow
WOW that is super epic. Well done.
I bought a bow and arrow with string for carp fishing in Nyngan area.
Damn things have really tough skin and scales. I did catch a couple but bounced off a couple too.
Completely missed a whole lot more though!
One good deed done there dispatching the carp!
Awesome mate. If you took a carp home would it be carp-pooling
Hahahahaha hilarious. 🤣🤣🤣👍👍
🤣🍻👍
Enjoy the introduction as well, yes you are crayfish magnetic and not shellfish at all.🤣
thanks for the video.
Hahahaha thanks so much Chris.
Times have changed re those Cray rules.
Back in the 70's it was really simple to remember (for the Murray at least). Any Month without an "R" in it was fine.
Hey Barry, same here. Although as a kid, I don't think it was a written rule, just a rule of thumb that we all lived by.
Yep, that ones been beeting around for a bit. But did you hear about the escort and the wombat? End of the night payment is due but he doesn't understand. She opens a dictionary to 'escort'. He reads, nods, looks up another page and hands it back. 'Wombat - eats roots and leaves'
Hahahahahaha very true. Lucky wombat. 🤣🤣🤣👍🇦🇺
Yep, crays are off limits in the ACT also. You sure got the trifecta. Cray, yabbie and a macrobrachium long claw shrimp. Well called on the shrimp, lol.
Nice carp. Some great photos there.
Thanks so much Andrew. I totally was NOT expecting the yabby OR the shrimp in the middle of winter, let alone both of them. Haha Next time I go there I'm going to take a yabby net. Haha
Funny how that happens. I’m hoping to take my grandson to the duck pond on the corner of Melrose and Fell Timber in Wodonga today to see if he can catch one of the 600 stocked trout recently put in there. Hope to see a video of you at Merriwa park doing the same with your family soon, it’s a great way to get the young ones interested in being outside, off their screens and into fishing. Cheers.
Thanks mate. Good luck at the duck pond, I hope the kids have a ripper time.
Merriwa wasn't stocked this winter due to water quality.
We still have Glenrowan pond though. The hardest part is motivating the kids. My eldest isn't interested in fishing and that's OK. Holly likes it, but as she gets older she seems less and less interested.
Mate when atmospheric pressure drops and rains carp go nuts
Beetroot is your new lucky vegetable. I dare you to use beetroot as yabbie bait you next film this coming summer. I reckon your on to something. Don’t say it won’t work, you didn’t expect the outcome of this video. Cheers R
Haha I will have to try that. I have caught them on tartar sauce in the past. LOL

My girl was troublesome from 12 to 18 but is an absolute angle now at 28. The next was a boy whom I could’ve cheerfully throttled between 14 and 18, 22 now and a great bloke. The youngest is 20 and hasn’t been too much trouble…..Yet.. I figure he’s saving it up or perhaps he knows it’s too late and I’ll kick him out of the house if he plays up; top guy but way too smart. Kids are great. I’ll never forget the looks on those young fellas faces though, they must’ve got the message because they all behaved.
Not too far from me in Deni, but my comment is on Beetroot, which does not go on burgers and sandwiches, but found out the hard way on my very first day in Australia :) Some great pics there too Robbie, nice job!

Hi mate, here in Australia they are hated by many people and releasing then is frowned upon, and illegal.

I kid you not Robbie ive camped at a damn once in winter and had a bloody awesome feed of yabbies
Thats awesome. My mate Sandy caught a heap at Lake Dartmouth last week as well.
Thats different yo there though, in deep lakes the water is mist likely warmer down deeper I reckon.
@@robbiefishing your most likely correct I guess they still get hungry during winter lol
What eats those baby crays in the waterway? The protected status seems to be working!
Thanks Jim. Many people think that Murray cod eat them, but I have to admit that I am a little bit sceptical of that. When I was younger I use to keep a lot of cod, and never gutted one with a crayfish in it. I found heaps of yabbies, shrimp, other fish, mice and even golf balls, but I never found a crayfish.
A yabby and a cray in your two first casts 😂 🤪 nuts

Hahaha yeah I know, that would have made for some interesting viewing. LOL
I didn't think you are meant to throw Carp back into the water as the eggs can still lay after the mother is dead? Serious question? How can you tell if carp are carrying eggs?
Hi mate, that is one of the biggest myths in fishing. Victorian fisheries actually recommend you cut slits in the carp and throw it back so that it sinks.
