I didn’t know! We shot this in real time and it wasn’t until we started getting some full field solid colors that it became super obvious. Damage happens, but man has this been a rough year!

@@zergslayer69 the contrast isn’t as high and the blacks aren’t as deep. they usually have more blooming but offer wider viewing angles than VA panels. I’m hoping with their higher dimming zones it’ll make the gap closer, as I really want to have the 2 HDMI 2.1 Ports and Dolby Vision
Weight from the FALD mini-led backlighting. that is pretty much why its so heavy. each of those leds is basically attached to a giant circuit board behind the lcd itself. making the tv thicker, and heavier. just fyi.

Hmm 🤔 Yes I have heard of QNED tech and I think what LG is doing is bad because if these tvs get a bad rep then that could come down hard on the actual QNED TV's. @@TheKwod with the c1 the video options are greyed out with a ps5 so 4k blu rays won't look as good as they should since you can't changed any settings, then for me personally the room it would go in is bright and a bunch of windows across from it, the lower brightness and an ok anti reflection would not look great during the day views at all, I really want the oled c1 but the reflection and brightness not being high enough to counter it and the greyed out video settings are keeping me away for now, I may still get it and deal with it but want to see this lcd mini led version first
I've owned a Pioneer rear projection and Panasonic plasma and loved both. I've been holding back on buying an OLED or LG QNED till the reviews come in from QNED. I purchased an LG NANO CELL and have been impressed with the image. So I can't wait for the reviews.
I've had my 75QNED99UPA for a few weeks. I posted my amateur initial look video today and an addendum. It's refreshing to see a professional. If you watch my two videos you'll know why this is refreshing 😅. SPOILER ALERT It's an amazing IPS panel. The blacks are, well, black ⚫. On standard mode, the colors are on point. A really good onboard speaker system, although I'll never use them. I can't wait to see your more detailed (and professional) viewpoint.
Can you review the TCL C728 , it's more of a gaming tv and it's a new model that is only for middle east and east I think, and we don't have good reviewers like you, so I will appreciate it if you would consider it, thanks.
I have the 65” qned99 8k. I thought this tv series auto upscaled all hdmi inputs. Yet when connecting my Apple TV 4K and my Oppo DVD player directly to the tv, the resolution only shows 2160. What settings am I missing. I did turn on deep color to 8k. I have to connect the Apple TV 4K to my denon 960h to upscale to 8k. When I connect my oppo to the Denon, it will upscale blu ray to 8k, but not 4k.
HDTVTEST tested this TV and he had a crescent center stand while you have feet on the left and right ... of course he is in the UK ... i hate how these companies make different TVs for different markets but still give them same model number ...
I understand the hate for the IPS, but it might would have been worth mentioning that not all LG tvs come with an IPS panel, the 50", 60", 70" and 82" models have VA panels (though unfortunately only very few models are available in these sizes, so most of LG LCDs are IPS).
I have the original TCL 65 825 mini led set I bought in February 2020 and I love it to this day. Originally it had some bad bright corners on low and medium local dimming that went completely away on the high settings. They recently released a major update that fixed the problem so you can use the lower settings that help a bit with black crush. It's a VA panel but I use a heavy duty full motion mount so it's never a problem if I need to move it. It will be interesting to see if this one can match the inky blacks mine has with the better viewing angles of ips, and hopefully it gets bright in hdr because mine does. Looking forward to the final review and it wasn't looking too shabby on the demos you had running.
How can we tell if the TV is damaged even though it doesn't have any visible damage, turns on, and videos/pictures show? When you had shown the white screen with dark parts, sales people could just tell us that it's normal and "doesn't picture quality when viewing things normally". What is the level of acceptance for those issues? Thanks!
Even with the damaged panel can you give a brief explanation of how it looks? Better contrast than lg nanocell, similar in brightness to samsungs qn90 at all? Have they improved the local dimming to not be so aggresive?
I use to have a 75” LG LED TV from 2019. The colors were good enough but the black levels is what pushes me away from loving it. The sound coming from the TV and WebOS was amazing but I’m plan on getting something like the ULED from Hisense.

Unfortunate how LG still uses IPS displays on their LCD TVs , Sony and Samsung just crushes them in this segment, the low contrast ratio of these really hurt the TVs performance by a good amount, I’d avoid anything that has an IPS panel unless you don’t care about picture quality.
@@anzekrnc2974 I still don’t think it’s worth it at this size and range, like I said if you really care about picture quality then by all means go with IPS, if you do care about how good your TV looks which is basically it’s main function, don’t consider IPS, nobody wants grey looking blacks.

Have you ever done a comparison of tvs that were top of the line in their year versus current generation? To see how much improved and upgraded newer sets are. I would like to see starting from 2017--even 2016, if it was a highly regarded tv--and have that compared to an equivalent set and this years top-of-the-line. Regardless if the top is QNED,QLED, or OLED.
I hate their wonky Y-bracket stands that require a LONG stand or table. I am waiting for the 65" 8K QNED with a decent stand that fits on a normal-sized table.

This went down dramatically when we made sure to call attention to the remote guides packed in. Also: Each remote is very different and this has a gyroscope in it. Not everybody's a TV reviewer. Grandmas and grandpas exist.
I made sure when I got my LG though it was the UN6950 series that I got the size that had the VA panel and not IPS and I'm always straight on anyway so lack of viewing angles isn't an issue for me. (50" size)
It’s damage for sure. The issue is far too symmetrical and localized to be QC issues. I’ve never seen anything quite this bad outside of a fully cracked screen.
What a shame. I was really looking forward to seeing an 8K QNED. Caleb, thanks for the transparency on the damage. LG, what were you thinking when you sent this. So disappointing. Hopefully, they turn this around very quickly. Looking forward to the review.
I’ll probably end up the with 77” a80j but this is the only tv model I’ve been waiting to see reviewed before I pull the trigger. But I’d be willing to drop another $1500 on the 86” qned if it’s worth the oled sacrifice for screen size.
Man a lot of the TVs that you receive always have some sort of disperfection of damage. It always scare some people because a lot of them would never realize there is something wrong until it's too late.

@@noahsinykin2156 is the latest iPad Pro 12.9 ips? While there are some blooming in extreme viewing situations overall I’m loving hdr content on it

How are the black levels on the Nanocells? Review sites like Rtings and even Caleb himself seems to kill them due to poor contrast.
