I was 14 and me and my friend ran to the front of the stage and saw her right in front of us! Those were innocent teenage years. Awesome memory. She’s such a sweetheart.

As a teenager in the mid to late 80s, I don't know any dudes my age that were not in love with Lisa Lisa. Every time her videos were shown, I was stuck on staring at the TV screen.
I seen her at a freestyle concert when she was pregnant and she performed and glowed beautifully. A few years later I seen her again at another freestyle concert and she told the crowd she had a cold and would do her best to sing her signature song. I wouldn't have know she was sick otherwise, such a great performer, her singing was perfection as always.
The sad thing is that back in the 1980s MTV would not play the I Wonder If I Take You Home video, whereas BET played the hell out of it. If it had not been for BET's Video Soul, Lisa Lisa, Cult Jam, and Full Force would not have gotten the attention they deserved because I Wonder If I Take You Home was the ish and still is. Brings back good memories of being a pre-teen/teen back then. MTV was racist af back in the day when it first launched. I am glad to see that Lisa Lisa is still doing her thing.

Oh my gosh, we as supporters back then had NO idea. To think how she was everywhere and going through all of that through such a tough diagnosis. God bless her for having the strength to want to continue showing up for fans through her illness, we were none the wiser. 🌹❤🩹🌹
