      Hey, I appreciate the support. I strive to give honest quality content and I’m trying to get there in this UA-cam world but hey, comments like yours make it worth while and push me that much harder. G7 Squad!

      @@tommylamarr G7 Squad bro. Personally, I think the CINELIKE D is pretty strong. All the fan boys hollering about 4.2.2 to sound more on par with the bigger boys but it's all in what you do with it. Just like how so many people crapped on the blackmagic when it came out, but it's blowing some of these REDs and high dollar cameras out the water.

      @@NCTXVA I've tested Cine D and Natural extensively and they both are really good and really close but Cine D gives you just a little more color space to work in. And you can really push it around hard before breaking it. There are times I add over 60% saturation back to the footage. With the right lenses the camera is damn near fool proof lol. The Lumix 25 1.7 is awesome, the kit 14-42 is really just a throw in. Outside daytime is where it shines. Problem is it's not sharp enough and it's a light hog. To get decent images from it inside I have to go at least 5.6 but them you have to have some serious light because the iso doesn't cut it at 800 without the help. Standard profile is good for out of the box vlogging if you don't want to color grade. Since I have the G85 I have the IBIS and it make it hard to justify the GH5 price jump, still would love to have one just have to mentally justify it. So that's where I'm stuck at. I want my net camera to be a true Cinema camera because I see the need for dynamic range if I want to compete with the big boys but I'm a budget guy so my top 3 picks currently are BlackMagic Micro, Z Cam e2 and BMPCC 4K. Ideally I tell myself just get right and get the URSA and I'm good for years (Netflix ready) but I'm also the kind of Cinematographer that likes to run a 3 camera setup for speed and efficiency, but who's buying 3 URSA's lol. I could see an URSA and to less expansive BM's but that's to worry about next year.

      @@tommylamarr Yeah...that kit lens is hit or miss, but when it hits.....especially if you're shooting pics on 4k it can do some work. I picked up the FOTASY Canon EOS to M4/3 adapter f2.8-22 and I have no complaints. As of OCT 2019, the Panasonic Lumix S1H
      is now the cheapest Netflix Originals-certified camera.

    I use a Sony a6400 for filmmaking. But thinking about adding a G85 or G95 to my camera bag.

    • @bigwavesun
      @bigwavesun 2 роки тому

      The a6400 is the better camera, but notoriously confusing with it's menus and Sony menu language. The Lumix line is much easier to start shooting with since you can set up your picture settings much easier. Both have their place and are great if you want to add one.

    Mr.Lamarr,I've got a question.Is a Lumix G85 for $350-400 body only a good deal in ur professional opinion?I don't really know what kind of lens I need yet for video cuz I've never even handled a Lumix yet.My current camera is a Samsung NX30 and the kit lens is solid for general video.I figured to step up to a Lumix make the NX30 my 2ndary and maybe grab a lens after some research.

      The g7 and g85 can take photos, but are better towards video. Also, I presume the g85 takes better photos due to the slight more resolution.

    Am trying to get one of these for my music videos...but wen i look on youtube the g7 has been used for tonnes of music videos far more than the g85...n those g7 videos look amazing....do u have any idea why the g7 is a preferred camera for music videos???

    • @tommylamarr
      @tommylamarr  4 роки тому +2

      Great question. The G7 came out first and was quickly adopted and loved. When the G85 came out it was priced a lot higher. In recent years it has come down in price being super comparable. If I were new to this and had a choice I would get the G85 because of the stabilization and weather proofing. that means I don't have to buy a gimbal right off and and can get more shots in various weather types. It really comes down to how much you have to spend. Get the G85 - less handheld shaky shooting, you'll love it! I found this G85 on Keh.com for $469, great price, here's a link: bit.ly/2U6xL5R

    Is the G85 an upgrade for the G7 or what?

    • @tommylamarr
      @tommylamarr  2 роки тому +2

      It is, but it’s really about what you need. If most of your shots are on a tripod then save the money and go G7, but if you are going to do a lot of hand held shooting then G85 is the choice. I currently own two G85’s, they are that good.

    • @tommylamarr
      @tommylamarr  2 роки тому +1

      @@EdmundLabito What you’re hearing is the stabilization system when the Camera isn’t powered on and without the lens on. The GH5 does the same thing.

      @EdmundLabito 2 роки тому +1

      @@tommylamarr I understand, thank you very much. But what about the one I see shaking? Sorry to bother you. I'm only trying to find out if it's faulty or not.

    • @tommylamarr
      @tommylamarr  2 роки тому +1

      @@EdmundLabito It’s not faulty the sensor will move around when it’s not powered on that’s a normal process it has to float so that when image stabilization is active it can move the sensor the way it needs to keep your footage stable. When it’s powered off there aren’t any stabilization motors active so you can shake it and visually see your image sensor moving , totally normal. Ultimately if you are uncomfortable with it you can return the camera and get another one yet I’m sure you’re going to find it does the same thing.
