A good night for running the ball. Tony Jones Jr may have had his best night of his career. He showed a burst and broke some tackles on his way to 176 yard night. I'm not sure if they will have the same success running the ball against Michigan, but the offensive balance was very impressive tonight. As for the defense, I hope this is the last we see of the three man defensive front. It did its job in the first half, but just barely. USC shred Notre Dame's defensive in the second half. Michigan's offensive may not have the firepower that SC has in hand, so hopefully Notre Dame has a four man defensive front when they travel to Michigan. Finally, Jonathan Doerer.... Wow! He practically won the game with his leg tonight. Making long field goals with a swirling wind, it was a very impressive display.
@Cavalcade of Fred Couples Kelly is addicted to passing the football. He would become nauseous if he was forced to watch Lou Holtz ND teams where the QB only threw the ball 10-15x a game.
If Michael Young takes that kickoff to the house to start the second half I think the game takes a different turn with an ND blowout. Either way it’s still an Irish W!
@@joshuatyler1991 USC is similarly selective academically compared to ND when it comes to their general student body, but that does not apply to the football and basketball players they recruit. SC played Notre Dame tough in this game but ran out of time. #30 (Stepp?) is the New Beast, impossible to bring this guy down unless you have an army of guys. The Trojans must realize if you miss a tackle against a good team you will cost your defense forty yards or a touchdown. #89 couldn't contain that speedster (granted he is extremely fast) and there was no one left down the sideline.
Notre Dame was the (slightly) better team in this game, but their DBs got exposed. Luckily for the Fighting Irish they don't play any more teams this season that have a competent passing game.
Luckily , we were able to barely beat a mediocre USC team. Our "best loss" ( Georgia ) and our best win ( Virginia ) both lost to dumpster-fire teams .. 🏈🍀🍀
@@sithlord7530 maybe they would have gotten beat anyway, but there were other calls or I should say lack of them that could have made a difference. ND played a great game, but it's never good either way when it comes down to officiating.
And if that was called? They'd just kick again. They didn't get the on-side kick the first time. You don't know they would have gotten it the second time. It's a low percentage play when the other side knows it is coming.
He was committed to ND for a long time, but was ultimately denied admission and went to USC. He's a really good player. I''m sure he'll have a great career. Impressive.
Thanks, Kelly. I didn't need that grand. Nice touch with dropped 7 pt back breaker. I felt my wallet grow lighter the moment that ball came loose. Throughout my entire life, ND has had the leprechaun on their side. That day, with my G riding on it, the opposite was true. That opening play of 2d half would have broken USC's flimsy back.
Irish Football imagine calling a team “crummy” then winning by a field goal (as a top ten team) lol. And then proceeding to brag about an easy schedule (which will most likely keep nd out of the playoffs because it’s so easy)
Notre Dame had 12 people on the field during the Onside Kisk and the Pac-12 refs didn't call the penalty. USC should have had a re-kick and 5-yard penalty against ND. Oh well. Honest viewers know that the referees interfered in the outcome of this game more than once. Maybe next year.
USC got away with about half a dozen holding penalties. They came into this game averaging 7 penalties which would be near the bottom. They had 2 against ND, and it wasn't because they played disciplined football. Come off it with this "referees interfered" nonsense.

You can have as many regular season wins as you want and go undefeated against normal schools but that still doesn’t mean you’re ready to run with the big dogs.
