Yeah I’ve seen a video where Dave actually sees when he goes through the song writing/riff making process of making music he looks at the guitar like a drum instrument.. top string/low notes as a snare/bass drum and he looks at the bottom string/high notes as cymbals …
This is the best FF song. Dave Grohl has said that if a show is lackluster either in terms of band energy or crowd energy, when they play this song it cures all.
I feel like the foo fighters are a fairly underrated band. People seem to know them and like them but fail to be.included in there favorite bands. Even I have but there is no denying they are a great group that has almost always put out really good music
Not remotely under-rated. Lol! Maybe opposite? And I’m saying that as someone who really enjoys them and their music. There are many numerous other hard rock bands that deserve the same attention, but are ignored by the media. Very good band though, and I’m happy to see a guy like Dave Grohl lead the charge trying to bring the gospel of rock music to the masses!
@@Gazza100786 @Gary Campbell I'm not saying they don't have fans that don't absolutely love them. What I was getting at more or less is if you ask someone "whose your top 5 favorite bands" you rarely hear the foo fighters or at least to the people I've talked to that's been the trend. They are a great band, that makes great music, and have heard there concerts are phenomenal.
@@RB-oc7ti Part of my perception on this may come from the fact I don't get on much media. No Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, or whatever others are out there. UA-cam is the only one.
The problem with Foo Fighters is that they’re a hits band. Wasting Light might be the only record they have that’s solid front to back. They have great singles on almost every single record they’ve ever made, but their deep cuts just aren’t really that good
Oh yesss ! A song for brutal headbanging, that"s for sure ! Good stuff as always David ! Love the Foos and I love this channel. Couldn't have a better way to finish my night .
Nice another great reaction David thanks for your explanations on many things as it helps someone like myself who is not very well versed to understand the many elements that go into creating good songs :)
They are an outstanding live act, as you can glean from this clip. If/when you see them, you can pretty much count on high intensity and passion throughout the entire show. Lucky enough to see them here in the Philly area in the summer of 2015 & Grohl had just broken his leg at a show in Sweden; so they designed a FF 'throne' for him to sit in during the show lol. He rocked out harder in that thing that just about any other frontman I've ever seen live. Fortunately, they've decided just recently that they'll continue as a band despite their recent devastating loss
I always sleep on foo fighters as ar as just listenin to music. But live. They are a fun fun band to watch play. Seen them a few times. Always had a ball
Glad you used the live version that I rec'd. As live performances go, this was the absolute closest match to the studio album version that I've ever seen. And yes, the album version has that same energy. Energy -- These guys are an OUTSTANDING live band! The now late drummer, Taylor Hawkins, pushed them into putting on a REAL SHOW by building set lists that allowed them to use different transitions between songs. Sometimes with some killer riffing or solos in between and other times a clean crossover. The syncopation -- when I listen to the album, the syncopated start always throws my timing off until a few bars into the vocals. Even though I know the song, it still happens. You should watch this song performed at Wembley in 2008. The sound and energy somehow managed to fill the entire bowl of that massive place. 80k people in there, including a 20k mosh pit! IT'S NUTS!
Oh a side note: I highly recommend Dave Grohl's book "The Storyteller", especially the audiobook version that he narrates himself. It's not a true autobiography, but more random stories from his POV over the years. Fun stuff.
I was 13 in 1970. A decade of phenominal music. I became an instant fan when the first cd dropped. Dave Grohl recorded it basically alone. I love X-Satic!
I'm not a big foo fan. But I love Dave as a good guy from what I see. Always brings fans up on stage and play. And when he had the son of the drummer who passed, 😢 play drums on the song hero to honor his dad. You should do that video. From Wembley
“I’m being honest here, I don’t KNOW this song, but I am FAMILIAR with it” As a rock fan you have heard this song 9,009 times unless your head has been 9,000 feet underground for the last 20 years 😂 just my opinion!
If there’s one song of theirs that gets play at sports arenas between plays, it’s this one. The Milwaukee Brewers play the “done, done, on to the next one” part after each put in the 9th inning when they’re winning.
Anyone that tried to say Dave is a shitty guitarist I challenge to post a video of them just playing that intro while "singing" those lyrics in time. Vocals don't have to sound good just keep that rhythm on one chord.
I remember seeing them with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. That was when I became a fan. Didn't care too much for the radio stuff up until that point. Then, just an absolutely powerful show, and I loved it. The radio songs sounded better than I could ever appreciate before. The sheer live talent stole the thunder of the whole festival.
I haven't listened to this song in years but I remember listening to it all the time as a kid. That intro with the almost rapping vocals and the ending repeating that but adding the scream vocals has always been my favorite part, and the most recognizable part to me, of All My Life. As usual David, I appreciate your honesty and authenticity about whether you know the song or not. I always know that you are not going to give us a reaction/analysis with a bunch of BS.
Gotta love the foo fighters live. Best concert I've been to in terms of energy and audience interaction. Don't know how does dave keeps that screaming going after 30 years...
During COVID Pau from The Warning did a collaboration with a few other musicians doing this song and it’s so close to this you would think its Foos if you weren’t watching.
Loved the backing vocals! Just kidding. In all honesty, I bought the Foo Fighters' first album, the Dave Grohl solo-garage-studio album, the day it came out. I said back then, upon first listen, that this "band" would be bigger than Nirvana. That it was the drummer of Nirvana was absolutely mind-blowing. Still a big fan nearly 30 years later, though their last few albums haven't been as good as some older ones, imho.
Just for fun... now that you've seen this INCREDIBLE ENERGETIC live version by the actual foos, you could do a reaction to this much more tame, but still excellent, collaborative cover version of Foo Fighters - All My Life, by all mexican musicians, including Pau Villarreal from the Warning on Drums! ua-cam.com/video/oaO9h75ELh4/v-deo.html
Dave Grohl is a guitarist where you can sense how he’s also a great drummer. Great sense of rhythm.

I feel the exact same way about them. They do have fans that love them though. They've been about for a long time as well.

And finally you reacted to my request! haha
Thanks man, I enjoyed it a lot.
Greetings from Spain!
Thanks DH! Saw them live in 03 (using the exactly same guitar) and Dave’s stage presence is second to none. RIP TH ❤️

That's a vintage 1968 Lucite Dan Armstrong Ampeg Clear Plexiglass Guitar. The list of people who have played that guitar is next level.
Jools Holland was in Squeeze and he's toured with many greats. Clapton,Ringo George Harrison. Now he tours with like an 18 man band.

Gotta react to foo fighters the pretender
One of my all time fave foo tracks

Cool live version !
Great vocal performance by Dave
great profile pic fr
Jools Holland is a pianist who had a British show, sometimes it's shown here in America.
Boy would I (and most other Ff fans) love to see you react yo We Run by the foos… talk about a groove!!
I was 13 in 1970. A decade of phenominal music. I became an instant fan when the first cd dropped. Dave Grohl recorded it basically alone. I love X-Satic!
love the feeling when u think that u have heard a song but u didn't actually. Because u love it u think u had heard it
Great

resting on 2 and 4 is pretty dope. 2 and 4 are quintessential rock and roll. Love it.

Great song and performance. Gets a Harrumph from me! Wonder what the song is about 🤔
HARRUMPH!!!
That is an outstanding shirt, DH! 🖖🏼
THE Best Big Man In The Biz.

man, sometimes Dave channels his old frontman Kurt Cobain... in the vocals after the breakdown I'd swear that's Kurt live in front of Nirvana
Jools Holland does a fanous show on the BBC on new years eve to welcome in the new year were he guests performing live.
This live version is perfect except the vocal harmonies are missing from the studio version, that's sad!

Good recommendation…they did great cover of this song.
