i have learned Bamboo flute for 14 years. she is an amazing instrument.
It really is gorgeous! Enjoy your playing 😊
I Want a flute which makes a sound Like the sound that exists in hunter x hunter sound.. Can u help me plsss
I love it! I have played western flute since I was in 4th grade and love international folk instruments. Thanks for another great video!
Me too! Flute is definitely my first love 🥰
glad to see you having fun. I am a dizi player and am looking to pick up a concert flute. going the other way from you.
Excellent reviews of a really nice variety! I'll be tuning in again! :)
Amazing. Love the smile and very informative.
you were able to play something that is actually quite chinese sounding in the end! love it! (and I love chinese woodwinds)
Aww thank you :D
BTW, I love your smile...and your flute skills...
Aww thank you 😊
I see what you're saying about the kazoo-like buzz. It's very unique... and it sounds like you've confirmed what I've heard. It's a challenging instrument to play. BTW, I should have that tongue drum video (the one I told you about) posted within the next hour or two.
Yes, definitely very challenging! I'll go check it out 😊
Your smile is infectious.
amazing
Nice Video, Everything you need to know about this instrument is on the DanTang channel. There are all kinds of tutorials, practice lessons, sheet music in western and Chinese etc.
I am waiting to receive the dizi I ordered, I'm looking forward to learning.
what a cutie this girl is, great playing too
I came back to this channel Just to see you laughing ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love where you're at Molly x
Thanks so much 😊
A pleasure indeed. I bumped into your channel having bought a dizi (one that is too long a straight, another the same as your in this vid and another in transit - a rose wood for the flexible UK weather). It took an age getting a decent note but when I did I was off!! :)
Your vids are great, your personality is grace in itself, a pleasure to watch and thank you for putting the work in. Personally, more on the dizi would be ace but hey, keep on keeping on - you're a blessing to Earth x
Hi Molly! I play western flute and I have small fingers. I did not expect the hole spacing to be uneven on the dizi. Did you? Do you have any tips? Thank you for this demo! After 2 years I decided to Google how to set up and you inspired me. All set up but now I need to learn the fingering. I have a dizi in a key of c. ❤
is there any way to remove the buzz? like make it sound more like chen yue
Hi, could you please explain or share a link that illustrates which hole emits what note. How do I play a D major & D minor scale with it
Just google Dizi + finger chart, but please mind that the Dizi is not a chromatical instrument.

What brand of western flute do you have? Sounds lovely. Have you reviewed a shakuhachi? The dizi is nice but I like the Japanese flutes and Native American drone a little more.
It is a Yamaha! It is also 25 years old from when I was in elementary school, so they may not sound quite like that anymore 😅
I have not tried a shakuhachi but it's on my list! They are so beautiful 😊
@@MusicalMollyKhan pls post a pic of you in 5th grade with your flute -- you brought it up :)
awesome! you handle it well! is horse the name of the company?
Thank you! Yes, it's called Horse 😊
@@MusicalMollyKhan somehow i think its appropriate lol!
Hi, good, I know it's a little late but I'm thinking of buying that flute and I would like to know how in tune it is with respect to the calibration that it is in DHi, good, I know it's a little late but I'm thinking of buying that flute and I would like to know how in tune it is with respect to the calibration that it is in D
Is the Dizi in the key of D closest to the concert flute key of C?
i got this exact one, but in g cus it's a bit smaller. i haven't really been able to produce a good sound with it. but that's a me not knowing how to breath in it properly than anything
The smaller instruments are a little more difficult to produce a sound on! You'll get it 😊
You know how to play the musical instruments.
Thank you 😊
i just mail-ordered from China and received a dizi in D. I expected the lowest note to be a D, but instead it is an A. Why is that? Also, mine seems a little flat to yours. That's with the joint all the way in. Do you think I should complain to the company I got it from?
For Dizis the key it is in is the note that comes out when three fingers are down, so when you have a key of D Dizi, the third finger is a D.
The positioning reminds me of a fife with a membrane over an extra hole
The tassel should be tie to the holes at the bottom side (if the finger holes face up side).
Thank you! 😊
I have exactly same flute and key your holding. It's probably harder to play than western flute. Right now I'm still struggling to blow it.
It definitely takes adjustment! I think western flute is also very difficult for beginners; it's all about taking the time to find the right embouchure. Good luck on your journey! 😊
Hello Evan, if you are struggling with it I suggest that you put a thin quality clear cellotape on the Dimo hole for the time being. This will help you to get good tones out of your Dizi. Once this works out well for you, you can start to experiment with the Dimo membrane and you are more able to judge what is going wrong.
@@Nyckelharpabuilder i knew about that already, it still hard to blow and i still feel awkward holding it.
@@evanbrencer3374 I am sorry to hear. Are you able to upload a video of you trying to play your Dizi? This can help me to see what is going wrong.
You are just amazing 👏 just got mine check out my first attempt 😀
You really can make some one to laugh even if he or she isn't ready to do so. I don't know if I am wrong to say, "you are notty.
I have a exactly same flute I received today from AliExpress. So, I am so desperate of coming to how to play it.
Hello, which key is this flute? Thanks
I know this might be too late of s reply but it's the D key
I’m a musician...flutist and it does sound cool. What price point is it? Never mind I just looked. But I’m curious what key much of their music is played in because like the penny whistle you need another flute for each key. Did you try any music yet?
I have tried some music, it's really not too hard! It is much like the whistle, certain keys are easier on the flute, but you can achieve any note with cross fingerings or half hole covering 😊
Which flute will u recommend for a beginner. ?
Hello Molly, It's pronounced as "dee-zzzzuh"... and since I am nagging already; the set up of your Dimo is a wee bit too slack, making it sound too much like a kazoo :-)
Thank you so much! It is hard to get it exactly right watching videos, I appreciate the feedback! 😊
@@MusicalMollyKhan It's my pleasure Molly. Getting the Dimo right looks way easier as it is. It will help to use the ErJiao instead of garlic, since you can tweak your Dimo just by breathing on it. Anyway, allow it to dry propperly before starting to play. That's important. Keep up the good work! Love, Nikolaj
A Dizi é bonita, mas eu prefiro o som da Xiao
Khan, is that your real last name???
Yep!
@@MusicalMollyKhan Wooow! You are a Gengis Khan descendent! I like you a bit more than yesterday...! Well, I'm against violence, but he is part of history...
I can blow across beer bottles, no problem, but can't get a toot from my dizi 😕
It's definitely tricky, but you've got the right start! 😊
Lol it sounds like a kazoo
