- Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk discusses his planned acquisition of Twitter Inc., his view that a US recession is likely, and the outlook for job cuts at Tesla. In an interview with Bloomberg News Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait at the Qatar Economic Forum, he also comments on supply constraints and whether he would support Donald Trump in the next US presidential election. Qatar's Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Qatar Investment Authority and Investment Promotion Agency Qatar are the underwriters of the Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg. Bloomberg has all this money, and they couldn't figure out how to isolate audio.
The amount of money spent on visuals vs. audio is criminal in most online videos.
It's stupid because all they needed to do was to disable the interviewer's microphone everytime he spoke, but they didn't. It's because of either:
A) Incompetence and ignorance on how to
B) Laziness
I know, this is almost unwatchable. Maybe on purpose, someone on the team is not an Elon fan

I think it is Elon Musk's sound system not Bloomberg's. He should have put on headset or buy a better microphone. I would not get surprised if he is talking over smartphone.
In summary, things are bad and things will get worse. Worse is the government pretends like they don't see it. I for one has been hit very hard and at this point, I am more interested in a solution because I don't think an end is near. What is the way forward for the less fortunate ones like me? How do we survive this phase? I am slowly losing my mind.
Easy: Vote wisely, Spend only on necessities, Pay attention to your health, Try to spread your assets (locally and internationally) but of course be well informed about where you want to put your money. Made my first million this way earlier this year (got help though). Can comfortably wait out this "phase".

would recession hurt? I looked at 50 relevant stocks over 2020 and 2008 recession, across the board they all dropped 50-90%. I have deployed 1/4 of my bankroll at -25%. I am slowing buying at -the 40% threshold. Good ships bad ships all go down in low tide. I have ordered to buy at -60%, -70%, -80% and beyond. At the end of the day my average buy in will probably be -50% to -60%. That will turn a 3 bagger to 6x. I will likely start unloading after 2x (4x for me)

You might have heard this before but its imperative that I mention it. Starting out with a with a professional that knows the ropes of the choppy but profitable market is the best way to achieve getting a well structured portfolio. That’s why I have been working with ‘ Nicole Ann Sabin ’ and that doesn’t make me daft because in financial dealings one have to be prudent. Most traders enter exit with a quick 10% profit which is not bad in a general opinion but why not aim higher, it doesn’t necessarily mean to be greedy.

Elon (in my opinion) is usually very positive and consistent in his answers. Many interviewers try to walk him into problems or try to make him say things that will get him into trouble. Hats off to the guy for sharing his brillant mind and viewpoints with us given his mountain of responsibilities.

To those who question the layoffs: Companies and strong leaders have to make tough decisions. Laying off 4,000 employees today can mean the difference of not laying off 10,000 6 months from now. Any truly great leader of a company would understand that.
...good management doesn't need to preemptively layoff thousands of workers.

@@skoobbarnt6253 Teslas Valuation is absolutely nuts if you compare it to the entire cars industry. At 1.01 Trillion Dollars Teslas worth is estimated to be as much as the biggest (BMW,Daimler,Toyota,Volkswagen etc) combined. Its pretty obvious that Tesla is heavily overvalued and a bubble. At peak Market capitalization Musk sold billions worth of $ of Tesla shares. Nobody knows why, but my theory is because of the reason above. The official reason for this is to buy twitter, but now that he refuses to buy it it seems obvious that he just wanted to liquidate some of his overvalued shares. I would have done the same. Tesla is clearly not worth as much as Volkswagen or Toyota and certainly not worth more than the biggest carmakers combined. They do not produce more cars, they do not sell more cars and they do not benefit from the massive supply chain carmakers established over the course of a century. As a result Tesla is losing its first mover advantage quickly as more carmakers switch to EVs. Tesla, as an IT-Company, benefits heavily from tech but tech is not everything you look out for in a car. Milage, (repair) costs, benefits: in almost all categories Tesla loses its ground to the competition. Autonomous driving is the only area where Tesla shines with its tech expertise but many employees jumped ship after Musks announcement of forcing Tesla employees to go back to work instead of working from home. As a result a big brain drain happened and many switched to other carmakers, damaging Tesla even further. I think Musk sees Teslas downfall in the near or far future and wanted to capitalize the gains of his overvalued shares. The bubble will burst sooner or later anyway, might as sell some % of your shares at the height of your companies market capitalization

Bottom-line is that inflation is actually above 10% whilst interest rates is sub 2%. Cash is still trash.
Bitcoin also has never had 2 years in a row where it is down, although this is based on a short time period since 2012.
I'll say this would be one of the last few crypto bearish markets we are going to experience. If you missed the 2017, 2021 bull run this your last chance to get in and make yourself wealthy in the future. My two cents.

if you held stocks you're down 20 to 40%.
If you held crypto you're down 57%.
If you held gold you would be up 2%.
Still for every category you are ALSO minus the 9% inflation once you convert your asset to cash, because cash has still lost its value.
ANY investment would need to be UP 9% just to break even.

I'm tired of western media sentiments trying to make everything about how companies operate under the CCP's profit-incentive agenda. Ninety percent of the time, you don't see China meddling with US internal affairs, their foreign policy is based on a limited interference doctrine unless their economic stake is threatened. There are so many opportunities to ask more quality questions, but this interviewer botched it.

@@AudiTTQuattro2003 LOTS of people live where there are NO rails...public or private. We SHOULD have more public rail...especially bullet trains that move faster than the ones in the US currently do. Almost every major developed country has them. Bad OIL, Auto and Aviation Industries fight against it.
