In this video, I will be showing you how to troubleshoot a laptop that won’t come on for one reason or the other. So you’re left with a blank or black screen with nothing on the display. I come across these situations quite a bit, so I decided to start recording my troubleshooting processes and sharing with you guys here on this channel.
There are several possible reasons why your laptop might not turn on, some major and some minor so certainly, some repairs are easier than others. What I will be sharing with you in this video and in subsequent videos in this category are some repairing tips and approaches to troubleshooting these kinds of issues in case you’re having one yourself. And if at the time of watching this video I have made the follow-up videos, then you can also check them out to see if any of them matches the situation of your laptop in case this one doesn’t.

I can turn it on when it is charging but if I remove the charger it instantly turns off

I was at home, on my laptop, completing some very important paperwork. My laptop shut down and would not restart. The LED was on, but the laptop was dead. Took the battery out, ;held down the start button.... MAGIC!!!! Thank you so much!!!

I do not know how much I THANK YOU!! We have no money to buy another laptop especially in this pandemic. My mom and I were extremely problematic on where to get another laptop for my online class since there's no money and we can't go outside. I looked on your video, removed the battery and pressed the power button for 30 seconds then reattached the battery, charged, turned on, AND IT WORKED. I'VE CRIED OF JOY. WE DON'T HAVE TO SPEND MONEY ANYMORE.

I FIXED IT and it WORKS!!! Thanks a lot for the video, it was easy to follow. E shock me! Tips: I cleaned the ram with my nail polish 100% pure Acetone alcohol lol, removed the battery and turned it on.... FIXED!! Thanks!

Flip your laptop around and find a small hole there is an icon battery and use a needle press it down for 5 second . Than it can turn on. It is call battery reset works for me plus not all laptop have the hole at the back panel. For me I am using Acer and battery can't be remove and I think majiority laptop also have this small hole

I was holding down the power button while i clicked on this video and my laptop started working again, you're a genius sir.

Thank You. It worked for me.
1. All I did is removed power plug, battery.
2. Pressed power button for 10 seconds.
3. Removed RAM.
4. Put on battery and power plug without RAM and pressed power button. (It starts with beep sound).
5. Followed 1-3 steps again
6. Done some cleaning with cloth on RAM and its slot.
7. Put everything back and connect power supply.
It then started and worked normally.
8. Finally I ran some inbuilt tests of dell to ensure I have no other problems.

Guys, just press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, after that, let go and wait for like 2 seconds and press and hold the power button again for 30 seconds and turn it on. It works for me

So I have a Lenovo laptop which has inbuilt battery and I fixed this problem by holding the power button for a minute then put it on charge the battery was at 1 percent now it's working first class!!
As in did you hold the power button while you plugged it in? And did you leave it to charge before turning it back on?

I've seen this problem before but it makes no sense why the screen won't come on if there's a problem with the RAM. You'd think it would boot and at least get to the BIOS screen and tell you what the problem is like in the days of Windows 95 when you got bad memory codes.

Idk of this will help anyone but the first technique worked for me
I have a lenovo ideapad it doesn't have a removable battery so i just removed the battery and pushed the power button for 20 seconds then plugged my laptop back to charging and then tried to turn on my laptop and it started to work

Is it safe to work on the laptop when the battery is still attached? And still how do I work on my machine to reseat the RAM when I don't have an antistatic mat and an wrist wrap without risking destruction of the components by antistatic charge?

if your pc does not turn on you can try this keep the ram stick with more ram on the first slot (the botton) and the ram stick with less ram on top of the first ram stick

My laptop will turn on, show “Lenovo” and the loading circle but then the screen will go off-black (so not completely black) and the backlights will turn off.

I have a Dell Latitude E7240 which powers on but no display and no hdmi output, when I plug the charger in the system boots up without display:
- Power button led comes on
- Hard drive led flashes once very quickly
- Battery led comes on for one second
- After 4 seconds the power button led goes off
- After another 4 seconds the power button led comes back on and stays on, the hard drive led flashes once very quickly
The green leds on the actual msata SSD light up
If I leave the system in this state then the cpu and heatsinks get hot and eventually the fans will spin (but still no display)
Pressing the power button once will turn off the system (cpu will cool down, msata leds will turn off)
I’ve tried the following:
- Performed hard reset / static discharge, disconnected and checked cmos battery (3v on multimeter)
- Replaced RAM, msata, screen with known working
- Tried booting while holding down ESC, D, FN keys
- Tried HDMI output (no output)
I’d really appreciate any other suggestions / tips, could it be a corrupt bios? Thanks in advance
So if nothing happens when I press power button like no lights or fan cooler or doesn't show any symptoms of life it's unfixable?

In my own case, the power LED stayed on for a couple of seconds before going off. Tried draining the power as suggested but no change. Couldn't open it up checking for the RAM since I'm not a techie. So, what do you suggest?

I have hp laptop.. last time i used my laptop which was working good and after two days i switched on my laptop but it was just like a dead laptop... but power charging led is on when I connect power cord to the laptop. I tried everything like remove battery.. drainn charge from power button by pressing it 30 sec and again pressed power button to switch it on .. with battery and without battery by connecting power cord...
When I press the button it doesnt show the led light up or the laptop charging
It can turn blue but it cant show screen only cursor plz help i need help

I thought my laptop was broken, it just completely died and the charger wasn't properly plugged into my extension lead
I have a Dell laptop when I plugin the charger it starts blinking orange and white try turning it on doesn't work any one have any suggestions Edit now if I blow through the vents and plugin the charger it just stays orange and if I twist the charger the lights come on I hear the fan everything is running but the power button doesn't have any light and the screen shows nothing please help me it hasn't work in 2 years
