Just before you go into any possible potential accusations you need solid proof. For all we know Meryl was probably so engrossed in her work she probably didn't notice what was going on. Or people higher up probably knew how to hide it from her.

But Meryl Streep was around for a long time, she must've known certain things and kept quiet because she didn't care. Her career was ensured and she had a voice, she could've said something. No she isn't right. Meryl Streep is one of the most respected individuals in that industry, she's practically worshipped so people who are up to bad behavior don't express it in her presence. Why would they? Reputation is everything. People are probably on the best behavior around her, I'm sure everyone wants to be her best friend. It's like Oprah, even the biggest shithead is all of a sudden all soft & sensitive when they're around her because she could buy and sell them. What is the point of attacking other women for either not speaking out or not ending relationships with people who are accused of wrongdoing.? No one is perfect. Rose is complicit in something or other , racism or class oppression or heterosexual or ageism. We all have biases. No one attacks Rose for not speaking out a decade ago. The difference between NOW and her OLD interviews is this: In her old interviews she did not make violent sharp head turns; erratically widen her eyes; make quick and abrupt condescending wide smiles; and speak dramatically as if she were acting; over using the word "boring" as a defense mechanism to ignore criticims; and convoluted analogies. It's these tiny mannerisms she does NOW that make people think she is crazy. Clearly she is damaged. If you spent your childhood abused in a cult; had a movie mogul rape, intimidate and stalk you; and suffer head injuries in a car accident... that's enough to make anyone crazy.

I think she's just saying that she finds it hard to believe that someone like Meryl, who is so important within the industry, could not know about the widespread issues. She has criticized anyone who has come out and said they had no idea, because she said that women have been discussing this in the industry for a long time. I'm not saying Meryl did know, but I agree with Rose, that it is disingenuous to seem shocked about this once it came out. Rose stated in other interviews that she voiced what happened to her within the industry, and it was met with dismissal at the time. She discovered that CAA, the talent agency she was booked with, was also actively covering for Weinstein. She discovered that his immediate staff and agents from CAA essentially trafficked actresses to Weinstein. The money she got was not offered by anyone to silence her, but was demanded by her in an attempt to try and hit back at Weinstein. She also stated how she intended to use that money to put up billboards that identified Weinstein as a rapist, however, that was also stopped. She has said she realized at that time that the climate was not right to expose him, worth the industry bending over backwards to protect him, so she waited for a shift in public awareness so that any blow she dealt would be effective. After the huge change in the conversation and the rise in support for women coming forward, she felt that it was time.
Not trying to change anyone's mind, I personally don't know what Meryl did or did not know, but trying to provide context to what she's saying that most of these interviews and clips don't provide.

Own opinion now but I do in some ways some empathy for Rose. At the end of the day people need to realise that there's a type of higherarchy structure in the TV/Film industry and the sad but true fact is that there are people at the top who do abuse their power and position to get what they want. Sadly these same people exploit new people who are both vulnerable, naive who are desperate to get in and they take advantage of that. And sadly if they dare to speak out they are blackmailed, bribed or threatened into silence. And in some cases, as we've seen over the past couple of years, the ones at the top don't hesitate to turn people against the ones at the bottom and do it in such a way that no one takes them seriously or they won't be believed.

Unfortunately thats why this victimization goes on and on and so many innocent young victims male and female, go against their own natural beauty love and instincts... making them hard and unconscionable. Destroying the most beautiful aspect of our culture, our sweet young people, men and women. Meryl is protecting her own interests self, heart and talent, tho on a different plane. Did u notice, Barbara Bush's funeral, after 70 some years, George Bush was still putting her on his heels... I did. After a lifetime, he still needed to tell himself he was above her, even at her death, when she was above him from the start at 17, doing him a favor by bearing his 20 children and grandchildren... God bless her, but if it was me, and I had any love and dignity at all, I would not make this a political event.
The couch really has ruined these women's (and men's) lives. McGowan has lost his mental health which she can't hide, unlike many others that have gotten their roles through the couch.
I think Hollywood doesn't have anything to offer for me anymore. These celebrities form a perverse construction that I'm better off reading books and going to art exhibitions.
