I have a funny dale sr. story,my dad and I had pit passes to talladega race in the summer and we were by the media center waiting on drivers to come out so we could get autographs,so it’s just my dad and me standing there when my dad says”here he comes”I look back and it’s dale!,I grab my dads hat because I had a black “3” hat on and my dad had one of the 3hats that was red in front and black on the back,so we are walking and talking ,my dad is filming and I’m just mesmerized being beside this man and as we are walking I run smack into the fence that was around the building, dale laughs and says “hey watch out for the fence “I was on cloud nine I got dales autograph and a video of him laughing at me,great right?!fast forward to the fall race at talladega I have pit passes once again and me and thousands of people are on pit road behind the wall and the drivers are in line waiting to do their qualifying laps so most of them were standing by their cars and when one would go their teams would push the car up a little at a time,so I’m following dales car as it is pushed down taking pictures and such when I notice this girl beside me waving and yelling to dale to sign something when I see him motion her to come to him ,I knew this would have the chance to end badly if I got caught or something but when she made her move over the wall I followed like we were hooked together, little did I know that more than a few people followed us over the wall as well which caught the attention of security and people started running and yelling and screaming but I kept to the plan and reached dale ,had my hat ready and to my surprise he had a pen already in his hand, while he was signing my hat I say to him “you might not remember this but the last time you signed my hat I ran into the fence by the media center “he stops writing and looks up at me smiles and says that he does remember that and had a good laugh about it,that was to me just an amazing encounter with an awesome man,one that I will never forget
I love the attention and respect Jr. gives the ol' timers, you can tell they enjoy telling their stories,I could listen for hours.
Their stories are neat because many of them probably struggled to get to the top. Not that some guys today have not had it hard, but racing was much tougher back in the day.
Always love watching these videos! The fact that Dale gets to talk with people who raced alongside Dale Sr is awesome! Love the stories!
I hope to some day rebuild my collection of Dale Earnhardt stuff. I had one whole room with nothing but Earnhardt from Ralph Earnhardt to Dale Sr, and all the way down to Kerry and Jeffery. I know I most likely will never see all of it come back but I hope Karma takes good care of who ever took every thing from me. Thank you to the whole Earnhardt family for being a great roll model to everyone. I wish everyone a great night and god bless. P.S. I hope to some day go to a race and meet some of yall.
They just played this again this morning. In the eighties is the first time I saw Gary . He ran hard. I hope to see more on his racing life in the future.
Those were some awesome stories, Jr got the best podcast!
I met this gentleman through some friends some years back he was advising with their race team and Gary Ballou was one great guy. He is a character.
Loved watching Gary and Jody....I grew up at Five Flags Speedway and was fortunate enough to see Gary and Jody on a regular basis. On multiple occasions, Bobby Alison was kind enough to watch us damn kids while my dad went and did his thing. God I miss the old school days.
Gary is a interesting feller and I could sit and listen to these stories all day long and I think it's because I can relate to him on many levels.
It sure brought back a lot of memories. I was privileged to be fairly close to many things that occurred when he lived in New Jersey. Great race car driver !! Thank you.
My mom is so happy you are on NBC calling the races. Me too obviously. But she probably would pay less attention if you werent involved somehow. Thanks for still participating in a major way in NASCAR, Jr.!!! A lot if us appreciate the hell out of you.
He is the BEST live race analyst. Cannot say enough. Makes the race come alive.
NASCAR needs Jr for his connection to the Southern origins of the sport.
I love listening to Dale Jr
I've got a Jody Ridley story for you folks--sometime in the mid-seventies, my mom & dad went with the across the street neighbors (they went pretty much every weekend) down to Flat Rock Speedway, (Flat Rock, Michigan) to watch the neighbor's nephew, Danny Byrd--sort of a local "legend," as well as Joy Fair; RIP... Anyway, on one particular Saturday night, in comes this race car & trailer rig, a '64 Falcon sitting on it. Unloaded it, and came out onto the track, to qualify. Dang "hillbilly" type driver, he had DIRT TRACK tires on it. He kept spinning out, couldn't complete even a single qualifying lap! My mom said, "they better keep him off the track; he'll wreck EVERYBODY!" Well, someone in the pits loaned him some "stickies," and he set fast time, won the 4 car dash, Australian Pursuit, his heat race, AND the (25 or 30 lap) Feature! He was comin' off turns 2 & 4 pretty much sideways, and NO ONE had the nerve to try to pass him! Holman Moody Hi-Po 289 under the hood, that car was wicked fast! The driver's name? Why, Jody Ridley, of course! I remember that story, like it happened YESTERDAY... lol
Hey Jr, go ahead and throw the whole video up for the fans....they really enjoy what you do.
Neil E.Anlin it’s actually his podcast. So if u want to see his weekly show just download his podcast. It’s worth it and doesn’t cost anything.
Gotta have a full podcast episode of dale sr. stories! I love hearing some of the behind the scenes stories the older drivers tell about the big 3
Junior...DAMN!...just love these episodes!
I NEVER thought I’d be a nascar fan, but I’m sure a Jr fan!!
I'll tell you all, I was never a big fan of Dale Sr., but I respected him as a driver. The best of the best in cup racing. Off the track, fling a lure in my face, fishing, lol. If you want respect, keep on'' wanting. The mill town.
I ran the dirt track at the Metrolina fairgrounds a few times. In a Barry Wright car no less. Oh to be young again

Gary might not of had alot of success in nascar but that guy could flat wheel a car, he didn't take no back seat to dale, Gant, are no others that was on any track with him. Lord only knows how many races he won at many different tracks. Legend
Wow! My Ol Man worked at Carolina Tool the sponsor of that 22 car. I’m from Travelers Rest SC. How cool.
You can tell alot how a person was brought up in their attitudes toward the old timers.....I agree nice to see that respect given.....Love the podcast Dale and the opportunity for these awesome stories to be told.......
Jr got to hang around the Allison’s, Petty’s, Waltrip, Elliott, Gordon, etc. he knows the history from being around so much of it directly or even indirectly.

Gary pulls up next to the #3 and says, "Hey Dale, "Balough" Me!"
😂 hhhheeeeyyyyyy now 👍
Remember watching GB and David Rogers at NSS in the early 90's late models. Balough had the black hat reputation but could drive the wheels off that black #12 or was it #3 ?
Dale Sr could do things with a race car that other drivers thought were impossible to do.
He was arrested on February 18, 1982 that date is Ironic
Jody Ridley was a badass too
Yes sir .
Hey man , it's me Dave, open up i got the stuff, i think the cops saw me.
@Ethan Weeter
Jody Ridley was in the South what Dick Trickle was to the North
But Ridley was beating everybody with a Ford...lol
@@bryonkidder6199 Mike Eddy & Bob Seneker r the top shelf drivers as well! !!
@@creekscreeks8501 #88 rocks n rolls...lol
Dale, who is your co host? I don't recognize him, and who are the people behind the glass?
Mike Davis is his co-host. Been his right hand man since the bud days
Hey NASCAR, you could learn something from your past. Do some research and you'll find why you've turned into crap
Well said
The people who pay the bills control Nascar. The sponsors.
Isn't Nascar owned by someone living in Europe?
Gary Balough the hot shoe
I would love to see some on the Scott's on here. Billy, Barbra, Deborah, Mike.
Hey about having a show about all the nice things your Dad did & didn't want people to know about, in order to protect his reputation as "The Imtimidator."
Anybody know which book they're talking about?
Hay Dale, where did you get that Goodyear hat?
From good year
How come there is not a black 3 car on that table???? WTF!!!!!
6:45 Hello Wally. Hello Bobby :-)
It’d be cool if you had an app that you also put the podcasts on. I own a lawn and landscape company and while I work I listen to podcasts I like it when I can just use the app and it plays in the background. Just a thought if it’s already out there can someone point me to it?
Eric Wasilko he does the apple podcast and a few other to
Look up podcast addict. I have at least 30 podcasts (including this one) on there that I listen to while working.
Eric, download Castbox app and you'll find it there. It's called DirtyMo Radio.
Hey Dale that was a cool dude u need to talk more with that he was cool cat.
It would be nice to get all the old drivers that drove in the 70s and 80s or before if still around. And can talk about racing because a few years ago they had a show where the drivers got together and talked about the fights the racing wreaks and everything else about cheating what they use to do to cheat. Some got caught some didn't. They still cheat today because Nascar has took the fun out of racing. Even Jeff Gordon had a frame on his car that they out lawed told him not to bring it back to the tracks at all ever. It was legal they couldn't do anything about it but they told him to not bring it back to the race track. Why I don't know. He won about 3 races with it. Someone put weights in the frame the slid back and forth and the fell out on the track. That was funny. It beat a hole in it I guess. Any way those were the days racing was fun to watch and go to now it's not fun to go to or watch so I don't do either. Nascar needs to lower the prices of seats and stop all the rules of the cars to look just a like. Let get back to the basics please let take the hot 2 door cars of today from each car maker off the show room floor put the roll bars and all the safety stuff in it let say the car is 48 inches high with full aired tires. And so wide say 4 ft by 9 ft long weight is 3800 pounds. For all cars that's with everything full ready to race. Them after the race you size the cars if it 46 inches high at the end fine if it 5ft long fine it got hit in the rear shorten it some if it's 36 wide fine it got hit in the sides. Let go racing stop all the tech stuff on the cars. If it don't have anything to do with safety don't do it. Put a limit on the motors say 700 horse power. That's all you get you make the car go as fast as you can on that. You can't grind out the values and stuff like that but you adjust it to where you run fast. Let go racing like we use to get the track back like they was Bristol is 1/2 mile banked at 36 in corners and 30 on the flat part. Makes for a fast track of racing. Let's get the 1/2 mile tracks back up and running. Right now you can even sell out Bristol with 100,000 seat or less. You have taken seats out because you can't sell tickets to the races because it's not racing anymore. It a bunch of crap. Called racing. Give me the dogs they can race and you know dog races hard to pick who is going to win. Nascar you can tell who is going to win the leader that starts the race if he don't wreak or blow up which don't happen anymore either. What a waste of money to go to a race or even watch on TV Nascar screwed them self's when they let go of
ESPN showing the races. Now if you don't have cable you don't get to watch a race anymore. ESPN did great for Nascar but Nascar did them dirty wanted more money well they got it now they are begging for fans to come to the races. Cost to much now to go 6.00 for a hotdog and 6.00 for a coke. To much greedy got them and now greed is shutting Nascar down.
Get Morgan Shepherd on here
couple of shitboxes :)
Also known as cheap race car 😂 man I love this guy.
Ha! At 4:48 who can name the drivers behind Balough?
Dale Sr. Harry Gant, don't know the other one but he looks familiar.
gant
Earnhardt, Gant, and I think Mark Martin??? not sure tho
👍
Gary Balough the Nascar driver that couldve been
Jeremy Mayfield flipped Dale off at Pocono
Mayfield was the one getting flipped off. Gave ol Earnhardt a bit of his own medicine.
I remember when Rusty gave Dale the #1 (the finger), BTW, Do you know what Wallace stands for? We All Look Lick Assholes Chasing Earnhardt!! Love It! Love the Wallace Boys too!
What a great story! Another great story would be to get Harry Gant
into the HOF>

I enjoy Jr.'s podcasts,I'm a bigger fan of his than I ever was of his dads. Although I've always been a Ford guy,I never want to see anyone hurt in a race, much less a loss of life! The only thing I wish is they'd quit bleeping the cuss words! Personally I think it'd only make the show funnier! But that's only coming from an old 66 year old fart that says "fuckm if they can't take a joke"! LMAO

It cracks me up how everyone says Dale Sr was a "God" of ASSCAR. Dale Sr's Ego put himself into the wall.
