      This is what makes beating them in a 7 game series so hard. Celtics looked like they had cement in their shoes by the 5th game. No more hustling on defense, they started flopping more and begging for fouls instead of getting up and hustling, they were losing all the 50/50 balls etc. If you're going to guard steph for 4 quarters you'd better have been working on your cardio well in advance.

    • @adeshinafakunmoju9914
      @adeshinafakunmoju9914 Рік тому +21

      @@mitchsn Finally someone said it. It's tough to beat a fully fit Warriors side with Curry and Klay in it through 7 games. They cover so much distance and now they've added Poole. You can't keep chasing these guys around for 40 minutes plus and not tire after 4 or 5 games max

    • @Primenumber19

  • @DutchTheBibleThumper

    Steph is really a once in 40 year player . He does way more than just shoot from wherever his feet stop. Man can finish at the rim as well as anybody , his IQ is elite , and his style of play can last till he feel like quitting

    • @MrBrachiatingApe
      @MrBrachiatingApe Рік тому +7

      What's equally as remarkable is his character and leadership. He's the system, and he's the pace-setter for all these guys who come in and either play way better than their draft projections or earlier career would have indicated, or have the best season of their life, or otherwise work themselves into being the best basketball player they physically can be. A huge part of the Dubs phenomenal player development is that Steph is a massive gym rat and perfectionist with his skills, and you don't come to or stay in Golden State without following his lead.

  • @benndarayta9156
    @benndarayta9156 Рік тому +101

    What people don't understand is Steph don't have to touch the ball to make his team win, Steph's impact on the offense is beyond godlike and its not even close, people criticized him for his defense but he makes their offense so easy that they still have alot of energy on the defensive end that's why gsw is also good defensively too

      Great point

    • @MrBrachiatingApe
      @MrBrachiatingApe Рік тому +11

      I remember back in I think '16 or '17, maybe, Kerr was breaking down Steph's on/off impact during one of his worst shooting nights ever--maybe the first time he went without making a three for a whole game? (And yes, that was like 6 years ago! It's happened once since--just two games in his entire career where he's failed to sink a single three!) and demonstrating that even during this historically bad shooting performance, Steph's effect on the other team was still so profound that without scoring he gave the Dubs a +9 point advantage or something insane.
      Shoots 0/10. Drew very few fouls. Scored maybe 12 points. Presence alone turned the team's O-rating from maybe 104 to 112. Unreal...but what could the other team do? They had to guard him. Sure, he was 0/6 in the beginning of the 3rd or what have you, but the moment they stop guarding him is the moment he knocks down 2 on consecutive plays and next thing you know he's finished the game with 8/15 from deep, with all his makes in the 3rd or 4th quarter.

    • @JuliettKilo
      @JuliettKilo Рік тому +8

      They keep criticising Curry’s defence being mediocre but almost every guards in the league is below average defensively if you’re comparing them with forwards. My point is that Curry’s defence is very good if you only rank him against other guards.

    • @bjrowland25
      @bjrowland25 Рік тому +5

      @@JuliettKilo that’s what I don’t get. Magic is the goat PG but you never hear people criticize him for not having stellar defense and he was 6’9’’ but for 6’3” Steph he has to be one of the greatest offensive forces but also a lock down defender in order to get respect, it’s crazy.

    • @kelleyeidem667
      @kelleyeidem667 Рік тому +1

      Well said! The opponents also get tired chasing after Curry, Klay and now Poole. That fatigue can negatively affect their shooting. Plus there is one more affect that gets opponents out of their game mentally. Opponents can become discombobulated trying to keep up on defense or even dispirited. Once that happens, it's game over. The mental hopelessness can happen to players trying to cover Wiggins, too because they often have one eye on where Curry is which allows Wiggins to fly past the defender to receive a pass from Curry.

  • @WhereDaHoesAt
    @WhereDaHoesAt Рік тому +240

    You have to guard him when he passes halfcourt because if not he will make you pay. The thing that’s so crazy and the most underrated part of his game is how much he moves around the court. He never stops running and is able to control the pace of himself while moving which can tire his defenders quickly and he’s still draining 3’s. Steph the greatest 3 point shooter ever and also one of the most unselfish players we’ve ever witness.

    I don't like how some people say, "GSW is a big market so it could build a dynasty. Even if he changed to another PG it could build a dynasty." He made GSW a big market. Of course, I don't want to say that it's all because of him. Without Klay, Draymond, Steve Kerr, mark jackson, the GM, the owner, and above all, the fans, GSW wouldn't be what it is today. But in my opinion, Steph is at the center of it all.
    I hope his leadership is properly recognized. That's why I hate the opinion that he's not great because he's blessed.

      Oakland/Bay Area was NEVER considered a major market in basketball. They didn't have a winning culture, or particularly good coaching, nothing to bring in quality free agents previous to Curry/Kerr era. I have to mention Kerr because no disrespect to him but Mark Jackson did not have the offensive mind that would've unlocked Curry the way we see today. Understand that even though the GSW are a vertically challenged team. The Steph effect allows them to lead the NBA in layups 🤯

    No offenses gotta game plan for a guy more then have to for curry. 6’3 dominating the league, not with athleticism but with pure talent. That’s what really make it crazy, cuz imagine if he was a few inches taller with bounce, that’s just flat out unfair for the league.

    He makes everyone he plays with better, makes them feel important, and brings them to the joy of the team game he just has that personality and competitive nature that raises the whole team and unites them.
    And when the lights are the brightest he shows up and shows out. His end game clutch numbers idk if they are good but his 2nd halfs of big games I guarantee he is the best. When the pressure is on he gets better.
    He is willing to give it up early and often and let everyone touch it.
    He gets guys layups and dunks without touching the ball!!
    His ball handling is best In nba next to Kyrie, his shooting is the best all time, his footwork is top 5 ever, his passing is crazy, he is an amazing screener to get others Layups, he is a great cutter, he cheers on his teammates and makes them laugh and have fun. It’s contagious his personality because he isn’t trying to act hard and gangsta or make others jealous of his luxury clothes or diamonds, sure he likes all that but he has that personality of true confidence where he doesn’t need to make others feel less than him and he wants to be the best and show people but he also wants everyone to be happy and being their best.
    He is one of the greatest finishers around the rim ever, floaters, both hands, mid range😂 the list goes on.
    I mean Marcus smart and the supposed best defense and more talented team didn’t bother him at all and the one game they did he made his teammates better and was just as happy they stepped up while also wanting to play better next game.
    The only person I can compare Steph to is the rapper Harry Mack, and if you don’t know who he is then you’re missing out he is the absolute most talented rapper ever and he freestyles songs that are better than all the popular songs in the rap world. They have the same energy.

    What I don't think most fans realize is just how much Steph Curry has changed the game at the school yard level. How? With Lebron for example, a kid watching sees this 6'9", 250lb behemoth they could never become because they will never be that tall and big. Giannis as another example, has physical attributes way beyond the reach of most players due to size and strength. But what Steph Curry has shown every kid with a dream of playing elite basketball is that regardless of size, with enough hard work a small player can achieve greatness. For this reason he is a top 5 all time player. His impact on the way young players view the game today is unprecedented.

    If Curry wins one more ring, with a finals M.V.P, we all would have to say, that he is a top 3 player of all times!!! Hands down!!!! He is only 34, an already has the 3 point record, with at least 6 more years, because on his body conditions, and the way he shoot the long ball like a lay-up, he will end his career, top 3 in points. He will end his career, top 2 or 3 of all time..... We will never see nothing like Curry,ever again!!!!!! He the 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐!!!!

      I'm not sure he could ever truly be called top 2, frankly. I'm a huge fan of Steph's--GSW has been my team for 35 years, but I quit watching because of the terrible former owner, and only Steph made me start watching again. I'm not sure I'll be able to keep watching once he retires.
      So I don't say this out of jealousy, dislike, or whatever. I just don't think he'll quite have the resume to surpass LeBron, and he won't have it to surpass Jordan. I think he'll end up recognized as the best PG of all time, and I think his absolute ceiling would be getting widely recognized as 3rd best of all time.
      But to do that...? Damn. 2 more Finals wins and no more losses (especially if they threepeat!) 2 more FMVPs. 1 more MVP. 1 more scoring title. I think he's...mm...maybe 8th best all time right now. But damn, it's a steeeeep climb to get to #3.
      That's just my $.02 of course. Regardless, he'll always be my #1 player, my favorite, the King of the Bay Area, in perpetuity.

He's stroke might be affected when he facilitate much on playmaking and set plays! He's off balling, on a mismatch or switches he excels on that with his skills on dribbling, blow by defenders especially bigs! When he sees his matchup caught sleeping he just pull up from deep, lastly their system running perfectly, they and he mastered that them knows where he goes, spot up, corner, cut, drives, and faking defenders while he escapes on screens! He's one of a kind player, no doubt his on the discussion of Greats.. 🤗🤗👊👊

    Love or hate him, one thing is undeniable. He's the bandwagon attraction king. Don't @ me with MJ, Kobe, or Lebron. Those guys don't make bb fans out of cricket fans. They're athletically gifted and draw admiration from NBA fans. Steph has a whole demographic all to himself because he's an "underdog" that has exceeded the elitists' stereotype. Common folk far outweigh the exclusive club, and this is the one place in the game they can associate and own the gatekeepers.

    He gets teammates more layups than anyone else and he can do it without the ball or with his screens. I like that they let every guy take turns bringing the ball up and each guy starts in different spots each time and it’s unpredictable and confusing for the defense. Steph said the offenses goal is to make the defense have to make as many decisions as possible and then take advantage of the mistakes then once the domino falls it’s over because they all love to pass

    There is no place for Steph in the current all time top 10. Steph is not just a point guard, he is not a forward or power forward, he is not a big man or a big man support. Steph Curry by his play has indicated that a new category be established for basketball and his role. Attack Point would be a good name for it, because that is what he is and what he does. His every action is designed to score against any opponent. On defense, he is constantly looking for opportunities to steal or strip the ball or challenge the shots of his opponents, and is in the paint for any lingering rebounds to be had. His long range shooting has 2 or 3 categories. 1. To pull out the defense and cause them so much trouble that they will set their entire game plan to stop him, 2. To score quickly, 3. To cause the opponents mental distress. Other members of his team follow his methods on both offense and defense. Hunting and searching for opportunities to score or to stop the opponent. Not to sound to silly, but Steph is like an Alpha Male in a pack and the rest of his team will follow him anywhere. He is constantly moving with or without the ball, and if you notice the rest of the team is to. They have become attuned to Steph's play and they hunt just like he does, they very seldom are found standing still for more than a few seconds. There is no classification for Steph in the current Top Ten Players of All Time. He is the Archetypal player possibly of the future.. The Attack Point

    Even before acquiring technical and mental skills, substantially all great athletes (in sports where cardio is a key component) are born with extraordinarily low heart rates. For those (majority) who are not born thusly, that's something that, while it can be improved with training, can only be done to a certain limited extent. The guys winning at the highest levels all were born with exceptionally low heart rates.
    Also key is the body's ability to efficiently dissipate lactic acid build-up. These people - again, highly rare, and inherent - never feel the pain, burning, tightness that most people feel from lactic acid build-up. They can just keep going. Their muscles don't feel the pain from the build-up, don't tire nearly to the extent.
    You take people who are winning Tour de Frances, ultra-marathons, triathlons, setting records for running a marathon daily for a given number of days, etc., these people all have these two characteristics.
    I would be surprised if Steph isn't one of these people.
