- So despite Sting Ray turning his car into an airline, the Iowa grand prix's have recieved a fair bit of backlash from drivers and fans. Thankfully I still found 12 minutes of content in this one though, so enjoy my takes!

You know it’s bad when the racing at every single dirt track in the state is better than the Indy race.
That’s just because dirt racing is goated, it really doesn’t say much about indycar.
Roger Penske should buy like Kentucky or Chicagoland and turn it into his pet project Indycar oval which will never be ruined by Nascar

@@southwesternpasirens I wouldn’t change the configuration of Chicagoland, but there’s some safety features Penske likes that nascar doesn’t bother to pay for, like the catch fence design Auto Club used to have

@@FrosteeWusky just my opinion of him. Having met the guy and watched him “race”, he really doesn’t inspire much in or out of the car for me.
@@jonnyhollywood He was fast in his MSR days. Some driver/team combos don't work for a myriad of reasons, and that was definitely the case when he went to RLL. Now it seems he's battling health problems more than anything.
@@elemkay5104 I don’t like to see anyone suffer health issues, but it’s elite sport, if you can’t perform then move aside. As for his record, I’ve never seen anything from him that I would think warrants a full time paid drive. Plus, he really is as dull as dishwater. Again, just my opinion of him.
@@jonnyhollywood We as race fans are always talking about how rain allows setup to not matter as much and for driver skill to shine through: at the 2019 Indy GP, Jack got 3rd place in the rain.
I really think he got screwed over by moving to RLL, since you're not allowed to test with a team before signing with them. Apparently the first time he drove their car he was completely shocked and baffled how RLL's cars could be that different to what he'd driven with MSR and SPM.
Just like Felix Rosenqvist, his driving results apparently don't gel well with every team's setup. He overperformed with MSR, giving them better results than Simon Pagenaud when he stepped in. Then he just couldn't drive RLL cars well, and was overshadowed by Lundgaard. But his best result with the team (apart from the Nashville crashfest) was the 2022 IndyGP, which again happened in the rain.

I was at this race last weekend, everybody in the stands lost their minds when Sting Ray took flight
In 3 hybrid races there have been no on track passes for the lead. Starting to look very F1.
All 3 races just so happen to take place at a track known for being hard to pass (mid ohio) and having a half ass repave (Iowa). All these plus the tires not degrading as much and the additional weight of the hybrids just made for subpar Indycar racing.

Penske needs to buy at least Chicagoland and Kentucky to repurpose them, maybe even Gateway and Milwaukee, but there is not enough money in the sport to do that

They have a steering wheel, don't they? But looking at most indyraces, they probably don't have a driverslicense, so wouldn't know wgat to do with that round thing ahyway. Still, glad he's okay.

He *suddenly* ran out of fuel, and was on the racing line. If he'd turned down at that point it would've made it worse. That doesn't make it Sting Ray's fault, I think that makes it a racing incident.
@@UNHchabo Nothing sudden about it, he’d been slowing for a while, so should have already been off the racing line, he was trying to limp home on fumes.
@@Yosser70 There's a difference between being at 80% throttle because you're trying to save fuel, and being at 0% throttle because you ran out.

Lovely effort by our boy Stingray, to liven up the race! I hope he is alright. At this point he should relax and just drive the car, rather then trying to fly the damn thing, no reason to try and emulate Latifi.

Everyone knows that Sting Ray is the lead God fan boy in the pack but launching your car skywards to get closer to him / her / it, is a little to much.
Power stayed out a lap longer than Palou in the last pitstop that's how he got past him. This is definitely the first race that I can think of where a driver went from 22nd to 1st without having to do any overtaking.
I think that Max Papis did the same at Laguna Seca in 2001.

IndyCar adopting hybrids to catch up to F1, just to adopt F1's racing along with them, has been my favorite thing this season
Edit: I'm shocked you couldn't find footage of Palou sliding along the wall in the background while the cameras were on Herta's pitbox, it was by far the most entertaining part of the race
Harvey is out for Toronto, Daly is committed to NASCAR races this weekend, so you get another brand new driver in the 18, and another revolving door in the 51…

The NBC extended highlights are getting more and more shit. Like why were there 20 laps caution at the beginning of race one, and in a boring race 2 a pass for the lead isn’t worth 2 seconds to show it.

This is what happens when you pack 110 pounds near the rear axle of a car that's very sensitive to balance. Unpredictable oversteer doesn't make for confident racing. Why is Diffey gone? He could never pronounce the name of sponsor "Gallagher." Leigh, there's an "R" in Gallagherrrrrrrrrrr! It is NOT the video game Galaga!

Promoter, they make a big weekend of it by keeping people keen for both days. Last few years they've chucked in an Ed Sheeran concert between the races.
