This episode really highlights how amazing gaming will be when we can either recreate holodecks or develop a neutral VR system where we can experience everything as if it was real without consequences. It never fails to get me excited, even though I know it's decades away.

Actually, I like this episode for a particular scene. It was when Tom Paris was wearing the gold uniform and him and Tuvok were in the brig. Tuvok replied to Tom Paris something that got the ball rolling for me, mentally, I mean. Tom said something to the effect "So. how are we going to escape from the brig?" Then, Tuvok responded by saying "Ensign, need I remind you that we are confined behind an (((((((ELECTROSTATIC - FORCE - FEILD)))))))". Now, when I saw this episode the first time, I was in college. At first thought, I just said to myself: "Oh, they just threw a bunch of static electricity at the front door of the brig." But, later when I became an electrical engineer and I saw this episode again, this time being a little more seasoned. I said to myself: "Oh dear GOD, I think I understand what they're doing!" Imagine a hydrogen atom. One proton at the center acting as the nucleus being encircled by an electron and that electron just keeps going around the proton in a spherical pattern. Infact, the electron traverses around the proton something like 7000 trillion times a second! The electron forms a barrier around the proton - a spherical "force - field". So, in Star Trek, they do the same thing, except without a proton nucleus. Except, they call their Force Fields - "Containment Fields. At that point, in that scene, they managed to build a bridge from their world into ours. The key to all their technology is electrostatic force fields. Of course, they use things like graviton emitters and phasors and whatever else, but I think those are derivative technologies stemming from the electrostatic force field effect. I think they accelerate electrons to the point where they act as barriers, separating people, objects, or spaces from each other. I've, kind of, been researching this. I've only done the math on it. But, I haven't done anything "concrete" yet.
