Excellent video Scott on making the little things matter when a customer open their door up!!!! This is the first thing that catches my eye as a detailer or customer!!!! Clean rubber strip that looks great!!! It is the little things that can make and break your detailing business!!
Scott, Another informative video, I have been using Griots Speed Shine to clean both the door seals and thresholds for a number of years and it works for me..I’ll be watching !
I found that Di-electric silicone works great. I've had a tube for over a decade and it's still 3/4 full, really makes the seals supple and rejuvenates older car seals!

What do recommend for cars with door windows that seal to the door gasket? My Bronco with 2400 miles, when I open door it sounds like the window is sticking to the seal.

Gummi-Flage on door seals. Easy to put on. No petroleum base either.
My rubber seals on the doors have little white dots, it's not mold or water spots but I do live next to the beach, could it be salt? What could I use to remove it?
I just put ShinEtsu all over my seals and sunroof rubber. Looks great and it makes them nice and supple. Used WD40 silicone spray on my window channels too, makes the windows work smoother. 303 goes on everything else.

Aero Cosmetics makes the best car detailing products. Air craft grade and it’s so natural it doesn’t even require a caution warning on the bottle. You should do a video showcasing their brand.
Can you use it as a tire dressing?
I use that FW1 wax on the inside door paint it holds up pretty good, but I do not use anything on the seals maybe I should.

Shin-Etsu silicone grease (Honda 08798-9013) is great for rubber seals. Applying it to door window channel will make power windows operate better, fixes sunroof leaks (youtube video), and reconditions door and trunk seals.
I use a $1.99 can of silicone spray from Blain's Farm and Fleet. Keeps that weather strip looking nice and soft for LONG time!
you did not mention the use of silicone base cleaners for rubber and plastic moldings ~

I use silicone spray. ( 3 bucks a can at Walmart) I spray it on a small rag and wipe the seals down. (wear rubber gloves) This makes the seals look great and will keep the doors from freezing in cold climates. Once a year I also spray the CV boots and steering rack boots on my car and 4 X 4 with silicone spray to keep them protected. I keep my cars for 15 years and the boots and seals still look like new.

How would I clean the I guess would call it a wiper, on the inside of the door panel that the glass rides against? it causes streaking on the window
If it's streaking, either there is dirt on the seal or a coating on the glass. So try a foaming glass cleaner. Also, it's possible that the glass opening is the incorrect width.The glass actually puts pressure on the inner seal only when it is in the full "up" position.
Silicone is commonly used in Norway to also make the seal watertight. The doors freeze if we don't.
Good video. I have a (GM) Vauxhall Tigra Twintop and he factory that made these cars for them went bust so there's a possibility the convertible hard top roof seals are no longer obtainable any more, assuming they were supplied through this company (Heuliez.)
Preserving the seals for as long as possible, keeping them supple, is part of the effort to prevent having a leaky roof.
How about using 303 Aerospace Protectant on rubber door seals? Isn't it supposed to protect and greatly extend the life of rubbers and plastics MUCH longer than any other product?

Hello I'm from Massachusetts. In the trunk of my 2019 Jetta, I have a lot of leaves and dirt in the weather stripping. What would happen if I did not clean the trunk weather stripping?
The abrasion from the dirt and leaves is going to do a number on that weather stripping. And, it WILL cost you to replace that weather stripping. NOT CHEAP!!
The seals on the bottom of the door seems to get neglected by my grandson, he’s 19 so he’s still learning. Just saying, 😊👍🏻and thank you so much for sharing the dilution - ummm what’s the word-- % like 10 to 1 oh well my brain lost it 😁❣️❣️
More than look I'd like to know how to keep these seals last, free from dirt and elements that would damage them. At the end they are functional components so the type of shine should be the last priority.

Hi. How do you clean the paint Wien you open the Doors after you wash your car? Do you wax it as well?
Most definitely applying wax to the door jambs, and especially the BOTTOMS of the doors. I do that routinely after washing the car and wiping the doors and jams. If you want to make your ride look good AND last, you can NEVER over do this type of maintenance!

Power steering fluid. It expands and rejuvenates rubber. Also AT204.
It makes the weatherstrip swell and become gummy. It ruins, not rejuvenates.
I use 303 Aerospace Protectant also.

New to this, and so, please clarify -- when you say diluting 3:1, what does that mean? 3-parts original concentrate and 1-part water, or vice versa?
It means 3 parts water 1 part solution. It can be any parts like cups, pints, and so on. For example, 3 cups water and 1 cup solution mix together.

It is all about the 303 Aero.. The only thing I use on everything from seals to leather to tires. It is NOT a cleaner, and will not perform nearly as well if used on a dirty surface. Use a steamer and/or appropriately diluted APC for cleaning first.
Those two are all you really need. Cheap, easy, simple. I'm not a fan of that fake wet oily shine though. If you are, 303 isn't really for you. 👍👌✌
303 Aerospace Protectant is great for this as well. I also have a stick of 1Z Einszett Gummi Pflege Stift which is specifically designed for this.
how do you like the Pfledge stick? I was thinking of getting one. I also use 303. thinking of using my Megs Express Spray Wax as well.
Love it! It actually dries to a substantial clear layer that is visible, but not too shiny. It dries completely to the touch. I use this over my 303 on my personal vehicles.
Not literally over but rather than 303.
The only issue with 303 is you need to apply it, let it bond and wipe away the excess. If conditions aren't ideal, a wipedown of the seal and mating food surface may be necessauy the enxt day.
If it's not over applied, this isn't an issue. Spray on microfiber then wipe seals. Make certain it's dry before closing doors.

Should try to avoid any silicone based product on rubber door seals. This causes a creaking noise in particular on a convertible car where there is generally more body flex. There are some glycerine based products made specifically for this job.
Actually there are 2 versions to the trim shine. One is water and the other is silicone. Product 92034 is water based
What about cold weather so that your doors don't stick you have anything good for that

Cost. Car manufacturers--even of high-end automobiles--look to cut production costs everywhere they can. Silicone door seals would last 5-10 times longer than rubber seals, but they are also several times more expensive...
Also, stiffness would be a problem.
back when I was in hi school my auto shop teacher taught me that silicon grease will restore trim and seals. simply lay it on thin and let it sit for an hr or so and then remove it. it will soak into the rubber and condition it to like new.
Silicone is the way to go. Spray or grease. Just watch how much you use and where it goes. Silicone is a painters' enemy. It causes huge problems with fish-eye.

Silicone products and mineral greases are a disaster for your car. They attract new dust and keep it smudgy so you need to clean even more often. Better use a permanent product like Krytox GPL105 with a soft cloth or brush. Available in small quantities on Ebay.
