Excellent video Pete! :) I’m planning London to Amsterdam solo for charity for end of May or sept? 🤷‍♂️ training as much as possible. On a cube nuroad pro with 40mm shwalbe g one. Using Komoot for the route planning. Gonna book hotels along the way in advance and pray I make it to each one 😁 aiming for 5 days.. should have a motorbike friend as support vehicle once on the continent. Plenty of learning and practice to do yet 🤞🙏💪 love your vids btw very down to earth but clearly knowledgable. :)

That would be an awesome adventure! I have a friend in Newcastle, just outside Dublin and travel over fairly frequently but have never had a chance to cycle in Ireland yet. It looks like a cyclist’s dream though, so riding right across the country from Sligo would be incredible.
Would you get a ferry from Dublin directly to Cherbourg or head across the Irish Sea in to England?
England would be a longer route for sure, but riding from Cornwall to Newhaven would be epic in itself!

Yeah that chain snap was a bugger. Real shame honestly!
The further south you get the drier it gets! 😂 it's always raining in central.
at 9 minutes, that's near me that hill - farthing downs in Surrey. You get a great view of South London and the city in the distance. Nasty decent after that.
    9:46 - had a drink there myself.
    12:43 - I love Komoot!!

    20:02 - stop for a quick bike-parkour session!!
22:25 - classic Pete, no water-proofs. Jimmy dresses like he's ready for the Arctic, as ever.

Hey, no problem at all. Doing it as a family sounds awesome! Can't wait for my kids to be old enough to join me. Are you staying in hotels along the way or camping? Saw plenty of people doing the later along the side of the Avenue Verte the first time I did the ride in 2016.
So this is the UK part:

As you no doubt saw in the video, there were a couple of bits that weren't super appropriate for a road bike, although it was nothing to severe. You might want to just go through it yourself first, to make sure you're happy with it.
Best of luck with your adventure.
