@@woodsandbarclay Understand then. But I was wondering with all those records could they have done it just a few years ago? Nevertheless, nothing like starting out fresh again I suppose.
Pirelli or good tires but the Michelin defenders were the best ever made for these cars. Unfortunately they're not made in this tire size anymore but what people don't realize is that Michelin owns uniroyal and makes the uniroyal tiger paw which is also a good tire.
You say, this is one of the Best or The Best you ever picked up. Do you have any videos of the Worst or The Worst you ever restored??? smile I like to see that video or videos.
Hahahaha I actually haven't had a worst because I make sure I always pick up very good cars. However this one is exceptional. It's the best original condition 300D I have ever seen.
@@woodsandbarclay haha I hear ya. So I could reword it and say the one you had to do the most work on? You are definitely right from your videos on this on Part 1 & 2.
@@truefunk99 the one we did the most work on is the 1985 midnight blue wagon that recently sold. That was a full-on restoration new carpet new paint the works.
wonderful car …. I love Mercedes..this model in particular.... Good luck my dear friend
Thank you
Beautiful car John. I'm going to guess Gunner was an engineer. Very detailed history.
Accountant ;)
I love the way these cars sound when you crank them up. I'm restoring one in Texas and it needs some of everything. lol haha
Best sounding engine ever!
@@woodsandbarclay Right On!
You haven't really experienced the joy of driving a 300D (or 300TD, 300CD or 240D) until you've driven a low mileage one.
That is the truth!
45,000 miles on a 1983 Unbelievable! With those service records it still needs the Transmission and Differential changed with that low mileage?
Yeah it's a pretty incredible car. Servicing the transmission and differential on a forty-year-old vehicle is pretty normal ;)

Oh I that Pirelli tires were the best tires for 300 D Mercedes. I know my mom always used them on hers.
