- Name the character pictured above. If you said black manta you would be wrong only because while DC owned the character they wouldn’t let JLU use it because they thought it would confuse people having to many characters that looked alike running around.

Thanks for the break-down. DC has lost its edge due to BS internal politics, lack of any continuity, and having folks helm projects that have no clue. How hard is it to tell a story when you have all the source material in the world?
And they retroactively introduced Devil Ray as a separate character from the main DC comics continuity in the Black Manta solo series.
Man that justice league series was so much better than any of the movies. I would've given the writers full control to do whatever they wanted.
Until the last couple of animated movies, DC's entire animated run was better than just about all of their live action stuff. I've already seen the Warworld movie and it just seems more like a filler episode than a good standalone movie, like so many of the others. But if they had turned over the live action stuff to the people in charge of the earlier animated movies, they would have been a hell of a lot better.
Justice League Unlimited, ended early because the writers were too... "Limited".

Its called the bat embargo because it started with batman, but moved onto other characters. Like aquaman who wans't in the final season of JLU and why Black Mantas name couldn't be used because they were working on Mercy Reef the CW show. Same with Wonder Woman and the use of Cheetah a movie was in the work so some of her characters were pulled out.

Isn't this bullshit also the reason why Deathstroke is called Slade in Teen Titans?
Maybe that might have had more to do with death being in his name on a "kid show". It is the reason why Robin wasn't used on the Batman until Teen Titans was done.

The embargo started with batman and his characters and extended to the rest of the DC universe. This is what i was referring to with Mercy reef and the Wonder woman movie that didn't happen.
