Man rewatching this video 13 years later, really makes me glad how much it showcased that the ring chooses it's bearer, and that simply removing the ring doesn't sever that connection. Loved this movie, wish their live action movies could hold a candle to their animated ones.
Her connection to the green lantern core is so strong she has control over her ring even when it is not on on her hand. Wow she is awesome. Great fight.
Oh my wow, am I actually witnessing a green lantern using the ring in an interesting and unique way. The way she does things, how she fights and uses it is lovely
I mean, all she does is make weapons, and not even appropriate ones. He has a spear, and yet she doesn't do the best counter, which would be a shield and a longer spear.
Seems odd to me she makes a bow to shoot the arrows, couldn't she just make the arrows and send them at him without the bow? Doesn't really make sense.
1:25 he takes a moment to pause at the sight of his late wife, and the very daughter he's been pummelling up to that point...and still continues his assault on this pathetic quest for honor at the cost of his relationship with his child. He is even worse a father than he is a leader.
what is a man without honor? what is a child which betrays his father? i dont remember the whole plot in full, but i remember i liked her father who raised her good or not?
His hands gets covered in green energy, the music changes then starts to build up, her eyes turn green: "And I, am a Green Lantern" Such a bad ass moment. Then she goes beast mode and beats him without the ring. Perfect scene.

I personally think that this Green Lantern interpretation is one of the best. It has good characters, decent character development, and it gets rid of those hokey white gloves. Most importantly though, are these 2 details. 1: Each individual Green Lantern has their own way of using their rings, and they create constructs that they would have used on their own planets. 2: Nathan Filllion as Hal Jordan. That is a damn perfect voice for that Green Lantern, just like how Phil Lamarr is the perfect voice for John Stewart.
I feel like I've never really seen what a green lantern ring can really do. I mean, the potentials are endless, but every time I see a green lantern fight, they make dumb constructs like huge fists, or a huge baseball bat, or some other stupid thing. I swear Ive seen Hal make a giant slingshot once, I mean really? of all the things you could create. Really though, I feel like this fight gave me a small glimpse of what a GL ring can really do in the right hands.
It really comes down to what you can come up with on the spot. Most of the fights I've seen Green Lanterns in, they have to think fast and just work with what they can conjure up. They have to think it before they can make it into a weapon after all.
Intriguing... In most scenarios where a lantern's ring is stolen, it registers the new wielder's power over it's respective aspect almost immediately, and should it be lacking, normally it just comes right off, yet in this case, it didn't register anything... Instead, it almost seemed like she was capable of remote manipulation of the ring. Fascinating indeed.
Also in every case I've seen, when their ring comes off the Lantern corp member loses their armour since it's generated by the ring but hers didn't even flicker.
You call that one good? It's basically a story of an antichrist who doesn't want to help and hates her Satan-esque father and ends up brainwashed. At least for Laira's case she actually loves her dad.

@@scifirealism5943 UA-cam eliminates all comments in "Kid's content" as some comments might not be "family friendly". Even if they pull it out of the category, the damage is done.
IMHO all these comments about her being a weak GL are missing the point. I think she deliberately set him up. First to test his character and second to get him to take the ring so she could strip his armor. If she had just handed it to him he would have suspected something was up. I think this is proven with her monologue at 2:30. From that point on she kicks his ***, he never lands another blow.
I agree completely. When the ring was taken from her, an astute observer would think "Why is she still in her GL costume without the ring?...." OOOOHHHHHH.................=)
they should make a green lantern tv animates series were hal and laia meet by him being attacked by a monster and she comes to help him only to find out when they get back that they have to work together as partners to investigate a sector.
It's usually one green lantern per space sector. It would need to be a major situation for the guardians to send another lantern in. Thantos from Marvels infinity war or Galactus would be an example.
BlueDemonofFire so what, the guy has a point. the armor didn't make her fight in such a poor way. everything she did while he had the armor on was just so stupid it was laughable. and then oh armor goes off, oh now i can fight like never before, really?
Sigurd Jack The hits she landed while that armor was on broke her weapons, and it gave him the ability to fly. Once the armor was off, all she really needed were her bare hands to beat him, which I doubt would have been nearly as effective if she tried those same moves earlier.
that's not the point. the point is her EVERYTHING is better. her fighting was shit. if she coulda done what she did in the end before, then she should've been able to figured out other stuff to do against him. Logic.
Sigurd Jack Yellow negates Green Lantern powers, since his armor is indeed yellow, she couldn't touch him until he put the ring on and she exploded it. You guys really should learn your lantern history, the guy in the yellow armor bears a striking resemblance to sinestro as well. He's a Yellow lantern without the ring.
I seriously love this version of Laira and she should have her own comic series and an appearance in another Green Lantern movie that follows this universe

I can understand all the comments about using guns or deadlier weapons - But this is not just any fight. It's a fight between father and daughter. This fight deserves something much better than just being gunned down on the spot. They fight with what they trained with, together, as a loving family. In a way, it's symbolic. The daighter surpasses her father. And when she let's go of the last bonds, she can use her real power and win.
I miss these kinds of fight scenes in the DC animated movies. Wonder Woman vs the Furies, though, is the greatest animated DC fight scene I've ever seen.
Ian G i don't get how he managed to stab her! where's the ring shield? why didn't she made herself in a thick spiked, heavy, impenetrable armor, then increase her normal strength and speed, and play hockey with that purple drunken master?
The ring channels its energy directly from the show writer's mind and knows how to work for the script's convenience. In many ways it is more cosmic and divine than one could possibly imagine.
MONSIEUR DECKELMOUK it's not the color itself that is a weakness to green lanterns, it's the ring that powers it, right? so she's wearing a green lantern ring, but he doesn't. so you are saying that even a yellow flower is a weakness for a green lantern, just because it's yellow? i'm sorry but i don't follow.

It's a fight between father and daughter. This fight deserves something much better than just being gunned down on the spot. They fight with what they trained with, together, as a loving family. In a way, it's symbolic. The daighter surpasses her father.
And when she let's go of the last bonds, she can use her real power and win.
I always come back to this fight. It’s SO. GOOD. Laira is awesome.
This kinds of story is missing in modern media
Never thought a green lantern could be so badass
This one scene blows the whole movie version to pieces....
I miss these kinds of fight scenes in the DC animated movies. Wonder Woman vs the Furies, though, is the greatest animated DC fight scene I've ever seen.
I don't know what this is but it looks badass.
It's an animated movie Called Green Lantern: Emerald Knight.
Ironbat92 actually the second one
Mastr Sculpter That is the second one, The first was First Flight.
Ironbat92 long live cannabis
How about making a green Godzilla and step on the guy?
Hey, if they truly made Green Lanterns as powerful as they are on paper, then they'd be the most OP things ever. Even Superman would get roflstomped.
Ian G i don't get how he managed to stab her! where's the ring shield? why didn't she made herself in a thick spiked, heavy, impenetrable armor, then increase her normal strength and speed, and play hockey with that purple drunken master?
The ring can be quite inconsistent, bullets don't go through Lanterns (though they can feel the force of the bullets) yet a spear can.
The ring channels its energy directly from the show writer's mind and knows how to work for the script's convenience. In many ways it is more cosmic and divine than one could possibly imagine.
MONSIEUR DECKELMOUK it's not the color itself that is a weakness to green lanterns, it's the ring that powers it, right? so she's wearing a green lantern ring, but he doesn't. so you are saying that even a yellow flower is a weakness for a green lantern, just because it's yellow? i'm sorry but i don't follow.
imo this was the best scene of the whole movie...
This is such a perfect story line!
That sucks that she became a red lantern who dident have control :( and than a black lantern
Yes, she didn't give me much of a challenge.
I am a green Lantern, i have the most powerful weapon in the universe and i can create whatever i image, so let me make 2 swords and lets swordfight.
+Theodoros Xanthopoulos real warriors like myself prefer to use what we're most comfortable with but we like to make things interesting sometimes. it keeps us from get soft.
You wish it was another giant hammer instead?
@3:11 - 3:30 She just did some Street Fighter shit!
She fights like an Amazon. A true warrior to say the least ❤️
A green lantern who's ring has a defense mechanism in case is stolen?
Blashpemy!!!!
H=Seriously though, hwy can't the human Green Lanterns ever be this awesome?
If you've seen her story arc, she's pretty hardcore.
***** Lol wut? Stewart was a marine only after he stole Hal Jordan's ID in JL & JLU [rectoned in comics]! Before that he was an architect and the only GL oryginaly having military training was Hal Jordan who was a pilot.
umm no Hal was USAF pilot, Stewart was an architect before joining USMC, Guy Garner was "supposed" to be the first human Lantern but that didn't happen (and a delinquent) and lastly we have Kyle Rayner, an artist no combat training
odisseus ithaca Stewart was retconed to be in military after his reception in DCAU.
Kyle rayner is awesome and he is a human lantern
who is the guys name pls
Kentor Omoto
I find 5 things wrong with this
1 she should have bled to death when she ripped the spear out
2 she should have had a gaping hole in her shoulder
3 how the hell was she able to take the spear out all all she was elevated like 3 feet
4 I have seen the movie and when I saw her her shoulder wasn't crippled
5 how the hell would a father be able to do that to his daughter
Seriously? There is an energy manipulating alien fighting another alien in golden samurai armour with shape-shifting weaponry on a distant planet and youre fretting over the logic?
What do you know about aliens?
in a world where ppl get resurrected? Shoulder injuries are no biggie.
+ScarecrowJames., ,
,,hhhu
briana rafferty Number 5 is story driven, can't really fault it. But yeah all her punches from her left arm he should have been able to ignore completely. Even if she was able to throw them they'd have zero power behind them.
this is some really good fight choreography
I've never seen a more beautiful fight scene *sheds single tear*
When he puts on the ring, she's like "Jarvis, do me a favor, blow Mark 42."
It's a respect thing. She is showing her ability to her father who trained her.
