Excellent metal work. Very well engineered chop. Panel fitment looks great. Thanks for a very educational video, take care.
Thanks Steve for the compliment
great video and even better chop. love watching these kind of videos that really show you the love and commitment to doing things the right way
Nice work, I like the fact that you didn't over-chop it like a lot of people do. Restraint is sadly lacking in a lot of home built cars, kudos for showing that less is more
Thank you Murray I like to try to keep everything in proportion
i own twisted metal street ron in wichita ks that is the best top chop ive EVER SEEN.great work BE VERY PROUD I MEAN IT
I can’t imagine just difficult this chop really was. He made this look so crazy easy. But I doubt it was easy at all. Oh and by the way in the same episode he chopped the roof too. Just to add a little challenge. Wow.
That really improved the looks of the car. Nice. Thanks.
Thanks very much GD
guys, thats awesome, i do A LOT of custom glass work here in denver nc. the music made it so worth while watcing the video. i just did a 53 puting the windshield and backglass back in. im working on cutting the doors, vents, and quarter windows now. but great looking professional stuff there.
those young guys are lucky to have someone with experience showing them how to do this. im trying to do the same to my 54 bel air and this is my research before i take the leap haha.
great job guys!!
I am a bodyman...at first i thought what hackery is this? but you did it awesomely! the sectioning, the planning, the plotting and scheming..well executed indeed.
Coming from a Professional I'll take that as a compliment
I chopped my 65 T bird 3 !!! Times before I got what I wanted, when u cut flat tops down low your head hits the roof, on the older cars the roof has a big curve so your head doesn't hit, so I had to cut off the hole dashboard so I could see, as the dashboard sits up 5 inches higher than the hood !!
What? no matching bowling shirts? Good to see guys building cars in the back yard. We hardly see guys here in Australia doing up cars in the driveway anymore... nice job by the way. Nice and subtle. Keep up the good work
I just uploaded a 26 part mini series on how to rebuild a Blown BBC in my 53 chevy.
I also did a slide show in one of my videos stock to pro street.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video....Awesome...Great Job!!!!!!
i second tom keir, i honestly enjoyed every second of the video. i barely even noticed the time go by, adding the "radio" like music of that era was a great touch. good job on the car and video. peace.
Nice work
Man, I haven't heard WIL in years. I thought it was a country station. I thought it went off the air with KSLQ, FM, KXOK and KADI AM.
Danny Boy it is ,what you heard was from 1958.
@@vilsiran do a search on youtube for Cruisin 1958
Cruisin 1958
Cool job
WELL DONE
danny and juniors at the chop!
Lot of work doing a chop, then its the glass, I'm Aussie my dad had a 53, it took us on many trips up & down the east coast, most time overloaded with camping gear, fishing rods, chairs & tables, tents, I remember one time my sister & I standing on the trunk to get it shut, us three kids had no leg room the back floor was packed to seat height, great times..
brian critchley obviously your dad did not drive you up to coast in a 53 Bel Air because that is not a 53
Xlint work ! The plan was great & i picked up some good pointers!!!
Good video ! Crazy folks ! Looking good and good music for the Iceing on the cake! So cal in the house 😎👌🏽😜
Oh yeah, I've looked and seen that one in person many times, beautiful hard top.
looks good i just got a 53 chevy as well and im doing the same thing throwing 54 front on and trail lights and stuff on it
GREAT VIDEO!!! Without a word, you guys did a fine job showing the technical steps in chopping this car. The music too, added greatly to the enjoyment I experienced while watching it. I'll be back for more!
Thanks Tom Glad you enjoyed it!
We car nuts are special, four wheeled art is my passion, mig welders are my religion..
metal benders!
fine job gents!!! still not sure how the back glass was done ,..was it front glass from a donor vehicle cut to fit the new opening? Ive heard that on curved rear glass(tempered) is usually sunk into the body because it cant be cut, this looks like it fit perfect
.. ..
Excellent job!
I love 53's great job.
BEAUTIFUL JOB!!
This is the first one I ever did , I just figured if I screwed it up I'd make it a convertible
great job good tunes to
i use pretty much the same technique but use a dry sander going from a 60grit to a 220grit disc in stages. every has there own nak but its to each his and wht they feel comfertible. the difference in wet or dry sanding is its easier to keep the glass cooler while sanding.
Excellent job, nice video and great music selection. I'm currently working on my 54 Bel-Air 2dr hdtp.
Great Man Good luck with your project
took a lot of balls to commit on that sawzall. the end result looks
pretty darn good.! cool vid man!
worst came to worst I would of wound up with a convertible
id like to drive one,but i never could cut an original car that old...
the lower you go, the more everthing doesnt line up, and the harder the chop, and the more work it is, but the cooler it looks for sure!!
this is great.. learned a lot
I currently work as a shop foreman for a Lexus certified body shop. I can give you the exact color code soon on my pos! I'll keep u posted.
lots of times ill cut the bottom or top which ever comforms better with the chop.
Most people just lay the back glass down a bit.
Hells yeah! Looks great!
Disculpen pero segun los faros pequeños delanteros y luces traseras es un chevy 1954 mi padre tuvo uno aqui en CARACAS saludos Sres. gracias ///
what an awesome chop! someone knows their shit!
Haha! I think you hit the nail on the head buddy. Keep me posted on your car man great work so far.
I forgot to reply to your color code question on my 54. It is 4R3. That was the base color and you can darken or lighten it up. Looks good any tone you choose.
Beauty!
Outstanding job! First rate! But that car sure looks like a '54 to me!
looks great.. keep up the good work.
Thanks John for the thumbs up. Checked out your videos very good 53 is awesome thanks for making them available.
No prob. I live in Southern California I know we are not all blessed to have great whether lol

How was the rear back glass addressed?
awesome thank you a thousand times for the reply...Ive chopped about 10 vehicles, but have never done one that I hadn`t been able to just use the stock rear glass..again beautiful job!!
Nice!!!
Well done!!!!!
Holy shit is your dash a fuckinmazing ! Good shit man fuck all the hater.
very sweet...good job fellas
Looks great, bought mine already chopped, but with straight B pillars. I want to slant them but haven't gotten the courage to start cutting.
Slanting the post was the most time consuming part of the whole chop
i thought chop tops was just a weekend kinda project.. excuse my ignorance, i am just completely lost on how it's done.. i thought you just cut 4 inches out of all the pillars and cut the roof in 4 places and filled in the gaps.. yalls attention to detail is amazing.. ive chopped up n cut countless lowriders.. but lave always loved the look of a chopped and slammed 52-53..
I enjoyed every single moment of this video, and also the music just made it...good car.
+Tom Keir Thanks for the positive reply Tom glad you enjoyed it
You took the words right out of my mouth
I put a 54 front end on my old 53 too. Cleaner front end. Looking good check out my 54 sometime . Keep up the good work! Thumbs up from So-Cal!
Thanks for the positive feedback I really appreciate it
Thanks allot Kingfish there is many hours in the chop but the end result made it all worth while
Inspirational work guys!
So how much did you shop off the top it looks nice I liked the back window looked good good job please reply I want to do one my self
Coming from someone like yourself that does this professionally your comment really means allot, thank you very much for the thumbs up!!!
awesome music :)
Good job guys.
Thank you
may i ask what wire size you used for the welding? gas or flux? thanks great job.
Where did you get the rear glass from?
Wicked result.
thanks :-)
Can you assist me with cutting patterns or angles you had on each one of those cuts on pillar and side rear corners . I got that gets cut around the beltline the rear rounders glass and go 1 inch extra dwn on beltline to cut out rear window out first . Now stuck on how to cut corners of window on quarter side
I am sure allot of people would disagree but I use .035 , I've used it so long I have gotten use to it on thin sheet metal with no warping, I use argon gas I wouldn't even consider using flux cord way too much splatter
Looks nice
what would you have charged to do a job like this? great job by the way, thanks for sharing.
Love all of it except the B pillar I want mine to be straight not slanted. Hard to find someone good enough...great job!!
The hardest part of doing the whole roof was slanting those pillars it would of been very simple if I kept them straight
I think thats a 54 chevy based on the grill and tailights, unless you changed them from the 53 grill and tailights.
I am sorry for taking so long to get back to you the weather is finally starting to get nice here little bit of body work and then paint
What would you charge to chop only the back of a 4 door '54 3"
thanks a lot brother...........................
Hey man its ninja63639 with the 4 door...I'm in md about 5 minutes below pa.
Is this yours? I somehow received this too
Thanks for the positive reply I havce an Apple Computer and they make it pretty simple to put together a video like that
in 12 mintues i can chop my car. im gonna do it
Glad you enjoyed it

Love it .from denemark :-)
Great great great...!!!!!!
I am getting ready to chop a 54 Chevy for a friend of mine. Is there anyway I could get ahold of you if I have any questions? It would be much appreciated! Thanks!
THANKS A LOT ................
Where to get the glass for that car after the chop? Must the sidewindows be cut or replaced or is it direct fit due to the straight glass?
any glass shop could make side windows the windshield and back window I purchased on the internet both are laminated glass
Awesome job! Was is cut 4" in the front and the back?
3 1/2" in the front and back
Thanks for the positive
thank you my brother
How were they able to cut the rear tempered glass?
The replacement rear window is not tempered it's laminated like the windshield
thought it was going to be a model a real car way too cool
Thanks
great job love the music.
