Watch for the 2nd installment where Matt lengthens the top and the truck comes one step closer to completion!
Check out other videos where we repair the doors, lengthen the bed, install air bags and fabricate running boards.
Cool video. I always wondered how tops were chopped because of the pillars being angled and then not lining up when you cut out a whole section. I never thought about cutting the roof in half to solve the issue. Pretty slick. Now I can sleep at night.
Damn good job, unlike another I have seen on this site doing the same job & making an absolute hash of it.
Real time is much better than edit any day
I love how it's an ad, but it's educational as well :P.
Cool, always wanted a no-nonsense quick how to for chopping. Thanks.
Awesome work again guys. Cant wait until part 2 comes out.
Looking Good
I can see how you would take a section out of the back below the windows, How do/did you determined to lay out the front windshield area & the doors?
Wow,he has taken to working on hot rods since he left blink182!
I wouldn't have expected Scuttle Flex (hence temp' bracing) to have been relevant on vehi les comprising a separate chassis.
Hi guys;
Great video. Nice work on your truck. I have a 1954 Fargo that I am starting. The one thing that I would like to change, is the front shocks and wheels. Can you point me in the right direction on how to change the front wheels, brakes and shocks for a smoother ride.
Eastwood...selling suckers the dream.
What's a "caw"?
I like how he uses those tiny safety glasses while making constipation faces from sparks hitting him in the face lol
How did u get the measurements? Great video on explaining everything but it jumped in after you'd already measured.. if I can get how to measure I believe it's enough to cut mine... 1985 GMC c15 prostreet
Was this guy a lead singer to a band that Kevin Tetz discovered for body work too? Lol
nice
I've never done bodywork before but I have a question that I have never seen addressed in any other chop top video...
wouldn't it be beneficial to spot weld the door to the cab so that when you separate the chopped top the door's upper corners are still perfectly matched to the door jam /roof ?
+j rok As the roof is lowered it usually gets larger. That means the length of the top of the door gets longer (front-to-back). So the door must be cut and pieces added to fill the gap, now that it is longer than original. Does this answer the question?
+Eastwood Company ...not exactly answered. I realize the door will also need to be lengthened. what I am suggesting is chopping the door at the same time as the roof chop and then halving (front / back split) the door and roof while they are welded together. this way both door corners remain tight to their respective roof sections, and then fill door and roof gaps at same time with same measurement upon reassembly.
I hope that was a better explanation to my question.
j rok. The reason i would not suggest welding the doors in place is because it would be very hard to have sufficient access to reattach the top of the door and pillars/roof cause you must weld on all sides of each piece. The tubing installed to keep the car square and not removing the doors should keep your gaps correct I have just opened the doors on the chops ive done wasnt hard to work around once the fab work is done the door can be removed for finishing.
Thats just me though
Como se llama la roladora para hacer el escalón del toldo
Is that iron trap
Mike had some more hair back then😜
hey, after the chop how do you calculate and cut the windsheild and door window?
+ryan chow You can make a template to give to a glass cutter.

If you cut that off you might as well leave it altogether, proper Chop at least 33 %

all ways nice to cover any glass you would like to reuse.. sparks on glass is unforgiving... No way to reverse...
JAMES BROWN you can't reuse the glass after you chop it.
Блин ай бонт не хера не понял что он говорит
all those sparks isn't a good plan.you ruined some glass.

+Eastwood Company Also are your products available in the caribbean? bcuz you could make a killing in sales of tools and products
If I hard a yard off cars and could only do one up I chose a certain car and they chopped it with out my permission and told them to not chop it and not done that way I whould sue them because I like my car original not chopped can’t stand chopped cars
Amateur move not covering the glass
NNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!! you should not chop a 5-window cab, you just completely ruined the value of it! I should have been a 3 window at least!
I've got one here in New Mexico!
Way too much work and problems getting it right for what little benefit it might add to the looks ...if any ... and even if it's done perfectly. I would leave it alone and find other ways to make it look better... but maybe that's just me.
Why destroy this truck with a shop?????what a shame!???????
