I second this video, GMs quality had really gone down. Look how long Toyota's last, plus there making there vehicles in America and GM is moving to China really.
@@poweredbyrice5708 I have 2004 GMC 2500 HD pick up truck with 195,000 truck is top condition. outside looks like new but I use this truck hard I have pulled alot of heavy race car trailers Bob cats and minis and from time to time I pull my 15,000 pound boat and all I have is a 6.0 gas engine with 4.10 gears it pulls like hell however I have had some problems that costed me about 300.00 in parts 1-blower motor 1- blend door motor and new gauge cluster, which I switched my self future repairs will be a rebuild transforcase which I will pull and rebuild which is my fault for doing shit with this truck that I should not be doing.. So its its kinda hard for me to see why everyone in these comments hates Gm so much
@@chrisspear3551 2004 is before they started to go cheap on their vehicles and moved to China. Today, 70% of GM vehicles are made in China. So, if you are so proud of GM vehicles, why not go buy yourself a new one so you can support the communist Chinese workers instead of us freedom loving American workers.
I have a Buick SUV that is sitting undrivable with a coolant leak and broken power steering with only 115k miles. I also have a Subaru legacy with 215k and a Prius with 226k, both without major issues (except for a torque converter on the Subaru, which they took care of free even though the car had 200k at the time). In the past, all my Toyotas have had around 250k miles when I sold them, all in good shape and never having any major issues. I had a Corsica that is sitting in a junkyard with 98k on the odometer. Night and day difference.
After 7 GM vehicles in the past 20 years I got fed up with GM's poor quality!! They end up being rolling piles of rattling plastic junk! I now drive a F150 and my wife has a Ford Explorer, we couldn't be happier with these vehicles.
GM quality has really slipped over the last decade, but so has Chrysler since they were bought out by Fiat. Ford still makes a respectable truck, but the Toyota would get my vote
GM quality has been poor for much longer than a decade without question - and Chrysler? Where have you been, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep has absolutely been among the worst produced vehicles since mid-70's and it's not even close.
@John Doe Dodge hasn't stepped up anything....in fact, they're even worse than GM nowadays. The Caliber and Avenger are ranked on any list of quality (Consumer Reports, JD Power, etc) as two of the worst vehicles you can buy. And a coworkers 2 year old Challenger just broke down in a parking lot the other day
I have had them all. The Ford was the best for me. The Toyota was next but hated the gas mileage. Dodge couldn't fix their front end problem and Cummins going into limp mode and Chevy sucks balls on so many levels I would take up this entire page with my complaint
Been a GM boy all my life and sadly they have fallen in to last in the races and I feel like they are charging the most for mediocre trims. I still love the look but quality has slipped big time.
Wait u can't be.cause if u did then would know that the good GM cars are rear wheel drive and have a push rod V8 in them like Camaro SS ZL1 1LE Corvette, chevy SS sedan,SS trailblazer,GTO and G8 GT and the Cadillac CTS-V.and al the pick up trucks and Full size SUV.al these vehicles I just name have 2 big things in common rear wheel drive and have a Chevrolet push rod V8 in them.that's the best gas engine ever made.Frist one can out in 1955 til now that would be Generation 6 small block push rod V8
@@TheRealZJE313 Each of the vehicles you list above are statistically among the least reliable produced in the last decade-plus - not sure how you define what a "good" car is. Corvette's have LONG history of problems across every generation. The newer Camaros have been a joke - there's a reason why so many are on the used car market. GT's were notoriously horrible dude, what are you talking about? Trailblazers were extremely poorly designed, we got rid of one as it literally was falling apart under normal use. And the Cadillac....ANY Cadillac.....more systemic issues across engine, transmission, electric than you can even list here. A v8 and rear wheel drive does not equal a "good" vehicle.

Toyota, when your truck covers the driveway in oil thanks to Toyotas garbage cam towers that leak oil like the Exxon Valdez. The rust fragments are like the sprinkles on top of the chocolate syrup oil puddles, created when the frame rapidly rust rots away within 5 years.
@@dylandiprima7100 uh, you do realize that Toyota says that it's normal for their engines to burn up to 1 quart per 1,200 miles. They made this their official standard after the 2AZ-FE was surrounded in controversy for major oil burning. So now their powertrain warranty will only cover repairs for oil consumption if it burns more than 1 QT/1,200miles. Even the 3UR-FEvhas gotten complaints for oil burning, though it could also be oil loss due to cam tower and rear main seal leaks. It still amazes me how often 3UR-FE's have rear main leaks. You're also misinformed if you think that the GM LS engines "drink" oil these days. That was largely an issue with the Gen IV LS engines, which were replaced in 2013. The Gen V engines had many design changes that drastically reduced oil usage. Though, if it does happen, at least GM has a higher standard for covering oil consumption under the powertrain warranty. Higher than even Toyota's downright pathetic 1 QT / 1,200 miles standard.
@ISSA VIBEZ Toyota is rust-rotting dogsh-t. Won't fix know issues, major oil leaks right from factory, oil burning POS engine designs, lossy transmissions, cheap made-in-Thailand axles that are so poorly made they howl over the radio on the highway. Frames that they knew were rusting so fast and aggressively that they covered it up for over a decade to try to avoid being forced to issue a recall. Eventually they were sued for $3.6 billion for denying replacement frames for trucks and SUV's that they knew had garbage frames with nickel sized rust rot holes and told dealers to cover up with cheap undercoating spray every year. The same Toyota that build junk engines that drink oil and then say it's normal. The same Toyota that refused to admit the 8-speed they put I. The Camry was failing just after warranty because of defective torque converters. The same Toyota that knew crashes involving sudden unintentional acceleration was actually caused by defective accelerator assemblies but lied and blamed floormats for it. The same company that used the 3.5 V6 for years knowing external oil lines on the engine were failing and destroying engines but only admitted and warrantees the problem on Lexus cars in a narrow range of years when it affected hundreds of thousands of Toyota brand junk. They made Toyota owners eat the cost of engine replacement for years. The same Toyota the ignored head gasket failures on the 4.0 V6 for years. The same Toyota that ignored blown headgaskets on tons of vehicles over the years. Easy to do when room temp IQ Toyota fan boys blame the customer every time ANY Toyota pos turns out to be a... pos.
I lost my enthusiasm with GM products when they went through bankruptcy and all the stock value went to zero. We owned stock and for many years in GM. Many long time investors in the company ended up with nothing. When a company loses their shareholders financial support and trust, it loses the heart and soul of the product. And from what I hear their warranty support is not all that good especially with paint issues. I was a Chevy guy, bought Ram and Jeep and have not looked back. In the '70's and 80's if Chrysler was a large American corporation, Ford was a dynasty, and GM was comparatively a country. Wow, how things have changed.

GM is now majority owned by the UAW and it’s union members. Since the union controls the company they can only blame themselves if they don’t like how the company is run
I've owned one Chevy and never ever again. All GM are interested in are there quarterly profits, while the likes of Toyota are looking in to the future and they build vehicles, only GM could dream of.
They haven’t been reliable for a long, long time man, a lot of the trucks, and some of the cars before 03’ were solid, but they don’t make them like they used to
Dude I totally agree with you on this! GM has gone downhill, I’ve owned many of them and I just recently switched to Ford because GM is not bringing good products to the table anymore. There products now are very bland unless you spend 80k on a GMC. I think they have a rough road ahead of them.
@Jr ALEXANDER I beg to differ! The Ford Panther platform has proven to be the most reliable and dependable car built by any domestic manufacturer in the past 40 years, right up to the end in 2011. The big Ford, Mercury and Lincoln cars are now legendary and any one of them could make for a great used car if it has been cared for even the least little bit. I've had several and I would take my Crown Vic anywhere, anytime and in any weather. Over one billion police patrol shifts have proven that over and over again. The Panther platform is capable of some pretty amazing things with a little modification. Even in stock trim, it can take us way, way off road... as shown here on Hell's Revenge in Moab, Utah. ua-cam.com/video/KFwPXEeJ3aI/v-deo.html
Will I still have aND Drive my 94Limited Buick Roadmaster with the LT1 5.7 corvette engine in it.and I be playing with the new Buick on the interstate and red lights just to see what they got and they are junk can't even keep up with a 20 plus years older Buick
@Jr ALEXANDER Definitely gotta disagree with that statement on Ford. The Panther Platform (already mentioned above) is known to be one of the most reliable if not Ford's most reliable lineup of cars ever. . If you take care of those cars, they will take care of you. Not only can they take a beating, but they are dirt cheap and have great aftermarket support. Bought my vic with 84k miles for 2 grand! And she runs smooth as butter.
It's Time totally makes sense and unless you don't put many miles, your case is probably common. They just dont want to get really good. They just want to make money and thats it.
My neighbor wanted a electric Kona. But they were selling like hotcakes and he couldnt get a deal. Then he stopped at a Chevy dealer. They had tons of Bolts sitting unsold so he got one for half the cost of the Kona. But regret is a terrible thing. Turns out thebolt is just a suv with electric substitute motor. It was not designed from the ground up as a electric car like other manufacturers. Nothing but electrical glitches. He's looking at trading it in at a loss just to get out from under it. Nobody will give him even half what he paid for it! And its a new car!
its so laughable when you see these Chevy commercials saying J.D. Power and Associates supposed to claim that Chevy's are the best. For you people who believe that and go buy a new chevy, don't say we didn't tell you.
I was done with government motors after a 1982 camaro that the dealership had more the first 3 years than I was able to drive it. Government motors is now china motors
In early 80s they where shit but they where known as the 231 buick regale lesabre. Old and Pontiac used it to it was an OBP motor But is time when I'm a changed for the better

I have an 06 Buick LaCrosse with the series 3 3.8 and it’s still doing fine in 2019. Also have an 05 Sierra 1500 with the 5.3. Engine runs like a top but the body is falling apart and electrical gremlins.
You guys are spot on , I have an 08 impala LTZ v8 , when I go to the dealer for replacement parts .. what do I receive from the parts guy ? Oh your car has been discontinued! And I said yeah that body has , he said sir there’s nothing I can do for you as parts go, WHAT! I said , no parts ? He said yes my computer screen is clear , nothing is available for your impala , what’s a man to do .... not service at all .. and they want me to buy a new impala .. yeah sure ..
Stephen Foster Online name Greg Frost It happens. My 1997-2003 Mazda has no interior parts available but most or all mechanical parts are still available.
I recently bought a trail boss 2019. Less then 5k on it 3 months old and I took it twice to the dealership one for a sensor issue and the other for transmission problems! I made a big mistake moving away from Toyota.
My first car was a 67 Belaire. The transmission failed at less than 70k. Never owned a chevy again. I now have an 06 f150 with almost 400k on it, and still going.
I give you a thumbs up for the 400000 miles on the F 150 But come on man 1967 was a long time ago. guess you are a man of your word no chevys since pike's peak was a pimple as Joe peshy would say lol
Ford brings back the Bronco, and it looks like they're trying to get back to what made them popular. Chevy brings back the Blazer name, and it looks like all the other crossovers that are flooding the market. Chevrolet is a day late and a dollar short again...
I have the same feelings for a manufacturer that “was” synonymous with our family name. Good video, very honest, we don’t dislike or hate them, we just miss who they were and what they made.
Chevy sucks. In 1976 the 350 was a good engine but the body was terrible. Rust like it never went with out it. Like si said, the engine was good. I pulled out a tractor and 4 wheel Ford out of ditch in snow times. No big deal for the chevy but now? I wouldn't us a chevy to pull a toy truck out of its packing box. I now have Toyota Tundra and love the truck. Most reliable truck they, anyone, makes.
In 2008 when Chevy came out with the new Silverado 1500, it was the best riding truck on the market. All the other brands had to catch up. In 2011 Chevy changed the suspension on the 2500-3500 series trucks. IMO best riding trucks on the market to this day. Every brand has had failures, some bigger than others. Dodge had fenders rot out quickly(among other things), Ford had Diesel engines that wouldn’t go 100k miles, even Toyota Had bad frames for several years on the Tacoma’s. They all have their bad years. I personally think Chevy (full size trucks) are at an all time high right now, they have the best gas mileage of all the other brands. I have a 2015 Silverado, I never thought you could have a truck that gets car gas mileage. I love it!
lGM problems have been building for years. I was sales manager at a small Chevrolet dealership in Illinois. Farm country. Transmission failures, engine cylinder head and cam problems, premature rust problems, and rear axle failures. A lot of this was handled under warranty, but warranties run out eventually.
I just bought a 2006 Trailblazer ext rear wheel drive Florida SUV now i live in northern WI and to find a 13 year truck everything works and not a spot of rust for $2k sure it will need normal maintenance but there so ez and cheap parts I can't beat the price because when a deer runs out in front of me i don't want a 40k truck getting smashed. So buy older trucks keep it cheap and save your money buy some land build a shop or home and don't worry about what the next guys got because remember after a year or two it's just another truck on the road..
I currently drive a 1998 Chevy Z71 truck I love it and will never trade it for a Toyota.. How are we going to make America great again if we won't even buy our products. PROUD AMERICAN 🇺🇸😎👍
5 star rant. Never cussed...props for that. Once upon a time I had a 76 Chevy LUV. Before that an Olds Toronado. Before that a 389 Pontiac Grand Prix. Before that a crib. Cool that you like the Raptor...my current ride. ;-)
Same deal with the other compact pickups of that era. The Courier pickup sold by Ford was a Mazda. The Dodge Ram 50 and Plymouth Arrow were a Mitsubishi.
I gave up on Chevy in the late 90's. I had an '85 Monte Carlo which I loved but the car was a mechanical-nightmare. Next one was a '95 S-10 and again just crap quality with all kind of mechanical problems. Bought Hondas and Toyotas ever since. I still love classic Chevy from the muscle car era though.
All the big 3 with the sleepers and muscle cars. Those were the days. No one ever asked , what kind of mileage you get. I'm still like that. Guy at ward asked what kind of mileage I get with my 2.7 F150. I said if you have to ask you can't afford it.
This guy makes a lot of great points. Growing up a Chevy boy, I always loved how they were designed to be worked on. They were the only American manufacturer that rivaled and even surpassed the Japanese makers in design ingenuity. Nowadays they are all about checking the usual marketing boxes and cutting costs in everything between. Keep your head above water mentality.
GM man here and I have to agree! I sold my 06 Sierra and bought a new 2018 Sierra with a 6.2. Great truck, but in my mind not worth the price I paid; even getting 10K off the MSRP. Build quality has gone down.
GM was bailed out with our taxes; GM fired workers for the 2018 Christmas holidays; Chevrolet had too many recalls; GM make vehicles in china. I was done with GM a year ago.
I'm 62. I started out life as a Ford guy, in my 20s,30s, and 40s I was a GM guy. they got to be such pieces of sh_t, I went to Toyota and Honda, in my early fifties. Now, I am right back where I started, with Fords. I have had nothing but Fords in my garage for the last 7 years, and not ONCE has any one of them been back to the stealership for ANY reason. What more can you ask of a vehicle?
Current example, 2017 Silverado dash vs the 2019 Silverado dash. They are squeezing more dough out of you and their build cost has sank. I’m a GM guy, I feel the GM truck platform is generally easy to build and work on. Take it upon yourself, Buy a used 2014 and do what you like.
Love my Avalanche..! Always getting asked to sell. ..sorry. Just fits my multiple needs ,especially the built in beer coolers with drains on each side lol...
I left Chevy when the Avalanche model died, and my rear wheel wells rusted out just like you pictured. That was it for me. Now...I will disagree a bit, they currently make a kick butt mid-sized truck for overlanding, the Colorado ZR2, full lockers, and a Diesel if money is no object. Unfortunately it is for me, so I'll be looking for a T4R Off Road in the future...nice video. I'm holding out until the Bronco & JLT come to market.
Been driving for 25 years and 95% of my vehicles have been GM. But at 84k, my 3-year-old Malibu has problems I would expect from a 30-year-old car, not something I have 5 years left to pay off. I'll NEVER buy another GM built after 1993, unless it's equipped with the 3800 V6. Other than that, I will likely never buy another Big Three vehicle.
My first car was a beat up 78 Camaro with 250 cid in-line 6. My next Chevy was a 94 Cavalier RS sedan. Both cars were so easy to DIY repair and maintain. Then comes my last Chevy, a 2003 Malibu. Warped brake rotors, anti-theft system stopped recognizing my key, AC controls flickering on and off with the bumps in the road, and leaking intake gasket. These weren’t new problems. These were problems GM knew about for nearly ten years. I trusted GM to have fixed these gremlins by the last year of this generation Malibu when I bought it. Factory warranty expired, gremlins returned. I don’t expect all cars to be perfect but I do expect the makers to work to resolve a known problem before future vehicles are built and stand behind and fix these problems on vehicles already built.
@@maxkady9478 Yep Im telling you man Dodge is slapping those trucks together with raw unprotected metal on purpose So they rust away so people go and buy another one I have never seen a brand rust faster than Dodge Either that or they are giving the body panels salt baths before assembly
I drive a 2010 Buick Lucerne that I purchased new and I love it. Except for regular maintenance, I have not had a single problem with it. It has never been to the dealer for a warranty problem or any other defect. I have driven Buicks for the past 43 years and wouldn't drive anything else. My wife drives a 2012 Chevy Equinox and we have had many problems with it. The Chevy is not a quality product. Buicks are higher priced than Chevy but are worth the price because they are a much higher quality vehicle.
I have never actually owned a Chevy in my life, but have ran their engines in many vehicles, mainly a 54 Kaiser, which was a real sleeper. Then, while on a multi state trip, had an engine crankshaft snap in two. Times were a lot simpler in the 60's and I actually used a Chevy dealer's repair shop in Forest Grove, OR, to pull the engine and with the help of one of their mechanics, replaced the crank, reinstalled the engine and then finished an 8,000 mile trip. As soon as I returned home, pulled out the Chevy engine and replaced it with a 389 Pontiac and have driven Pontiacs ever since. I currently drive an 88 Fiero with the corporate GM V6 and am not sure who made the engine. I also have a 58 GMC 8 lug wheel truck , have owned it for almost 50 years and am ready to part with.
I've also been a die hard Chevy fan all my father and I ever owned I have a 69 Camaro fun car had a avalanche broke down every year my dad no longer has chevys he drives Nissan frontier I drive newer f150 with u on quality for Chevy right down the drain 100%
Chevrolet, I will never buy one since 2008 before 2008 I loved Chevy after that point and my mom bought a 2008 Chevy never again I will stick with Ford and Ram from this point forward. I have better things to do with my time then always be at the shop, and yes I mean ALWAYS.
After having to rebuild an engine in a '07 5.3 (blown camshaft, must tear engine down completely to clean all metal shards or engine will fail prematurely) and an 09' 6.0 (blown camshaft, must tear engine down completely to clean all metal shards or engine will fail prematurely) Both of them at 100,000 miles sharp... Bought used.. but much to my surprise, looking at every bolt on the engine during the teardown, every one of them was wrenched on before. So I'm guessing every 50,000 the engines blow. Dodges do the same shit, same with Fords. I'm buying a Toyota. Had enough of this shit, and for the morons that bitch about Toyota's mileage: I'd rather put more gas in something that is going to fucking work and last a lifetime, rather than every 50,000 miles, I gotta rebuild the cocksucking engine!!
I agree, I'd much rather pay a little more in gas than replace an engine every 50k.i'm sure the price to replace an engine would pay for a good bit of gas.
Yeah, I also put 1 million miles on a dodge 4.7. If you aren't lying, you must have one of the few.. But don't worry, it'll quit on you soon. And probably be 10x as catastrophic. :)
My father bought a mid to early 2000 Envoy and was very loyal and obedient getting it maintained at the dealership who was supposed to be meticulous and taking care of the vehicle. One such occasion I remember him using blue language when he was charged $1,500 to get all the fluids changed from bumper to bumper: well maybe not the windshield wiper fluid. Fast-forward to 2020 and he's pulling out of his garage and the whole right front-end steering collapses. Where were the Union dealership mechanics the check if the tie rods and idler arm were wore out or not? Is there any wonder why American automakers who used to have 70% of the market share while I was a teenager have less than 30% now that I'm in my 50s?
This is caused by the short-term mentality that characterises presend-day capitalism, or rather venture capitalism. The idea is take everything you can now and run away with the money, do not worry about tomorrow, do not look behind. The only thing that matters for the company board is to become rich themselves and to cash in so much money as possible for the shareholders at the end of the next trimester. That's it. The respect for the company's history, its role in the community, the dignity in one's work, the satisfaction of building a good product that will serve society, proudly raising the flag made here by us for our people are dead values. Many right wingers will say I am a Commie. Ok, if not liking how Capitalism has evolved in the last 30 years makes you a Commie, so be it.
My 2007 Chevy Impala LTZ has 190,000 miles and drives like new. the only items replaced have been tires and brakes and oil and filters. I did change batteries twice. All engine accessories are factory. We do have a Ford too, I do not drive it much, but I do take care of it. Having cars is like having children, you take care of them and use common sense
Had a 76 nova 75 caprice 79 impala all these cars ran forever I also had a 96 Lumina with 31 ran till 260k couldn't kill that car the only bad thing was the intake gasket that's it today Chevy is garbage
That's why I'll never own one. I have 3 Ford trucks, and not one issue with any of them. GM has catered to the snowflake crowd, trying to refine these crossovers, and care more about cup holders than safety.
Owned all Gm's. Chevy trucks and Tahoe's and have been very reliable for me and family. We have 2 Tahoe's that have over 150,000 miles still running great.
Right on. My 14 silverado doent hold up to my 98 i turned in at 230k. Best truck i ever had. I was raised gm and in my 25 years of driving thats all ive ever owned, but i have to say i think its F150 for me next time around....
@Jr ALEXANDER i have no beef with toyota, well made vehicles. I am a former mechanic of 20yrs and recommend toyota all the time to people. Just a gm truck guy thats all. If not gm then it will be ford. Just my preference.
Owned an ‘04 Malibu & the build quality just didn’t match the Camry I replaced it with. From the fuel gauge breaking to annual rotor replacements (I am not hard on my vehicles), calipers seizing, dash lights failing, plastic cracking, blah, blah, blah. Too many headaches. My ‘91 Buick Century had a horse of an engine but the car just fell apart over time. I’m sticking with used Toyota/Lexus until I hit the morgue.
2007 was when they derailed themselves. My parents paid off their 2011 GMC Yukon Denali XL, and they are gonna sell it in less than a year for something better. My dad wants the newer F150 or Jeep Grand Cherokee. We've have a history with GM since April 2015, so we're done with them.
Your right they dropped the ball I have a 2005 GMC Yukon Denali and all I did this year is fix it , new gas lines , new brake lines complete tuneup, water pump, man it hasn’t stopped, year ago I had a 1972 k10 4x4 , 350 , 4 barrel Edelbrock carburetor 400 turbo tranny the truck was like brand new , I never had any problems with the truck. Go figure all I know is I’m going back to old school trucks 1987 down , lol
GM would not repair my Acadia with only 18,000 miles on it. The frame around my seat broke. They told me I was sitting in the seat wrong so no warranty. 60 years driving cars and now I don't know to sit in the seat. They wanted to charge me $300 for a new frame. I repaired it with one screw and it took me a total of 5 minutes. Lifetime GM buyer but that was the last GM product I ever bought.
I'm a long time Chevrolet person. I don't like GM now because GM is greedy. GM made their vehicles so people like me cannot work on them. They missed the boat as far as I am concerned because they could have done more with the s10 platform. Easy to put V8 in it.
I stopped buying GM after they laid me off and started building vehicles in Mexico. This is after American taxpayers bailed them out of bankruptcy. Oh yeah, my 2010 Impala was a POS too. Everything electrical on it was junk.
owned - 1990 cavalier - no problems, 2003 monte carlo - no problems till I hit after 90.000 miles, 2017 Camaro - 2 recalls and transmission shutter, 2021 Camaro - no issues yet, but this is my last GM
The GMT800 Tahoe is the best full-size SUV in my opinion. The 2nd gen Tahoe has excellent aftermarket support, very comfortable seats, a bulletproof powertrain, and a cool body style.
I can agree with the little trailblazers you were talking about but I know you meant the early s10 blazers. I bought one and swapped a sbc , there is a huge aftermarket selection to choose from when it comes to the s10s.
God I hate General Motors. I just had to scrap a mint condition 2009 impala with 100k miles because the “the engine seized”. I took such goddamn good care of that car, always changed oil on time and never drove with a single warning light on. My mechanic said it would be about $1500 just to take apart the engine and find out what happened, but I’m guessing the oil pump and oil pressure sensor failed simultaneously. This is just uncalled for. The quality control of this company unbelievable
Awesome video. I am a 4th generation chevy guy and it's sad to see a once great company go down the drain. I really enjoy my 06 trailblazer, but will not buy a new chevy.
My 17 year old Envoy is still running strong with the original engine and transmission so thanks for not dumping on it like most people do. The problem is we are moving faster into a throw away society and it is now effecting car manufacturers. Money is key! Give it 10 years and Toyota will be doing the same thing sadly.
This guy knows what he's talking about. I used to have Chevy Z71 and loved it. Transmission was giving me problems on my second Chevy and they would not help me. Went to Ford and 2008 their diesel blew up at 38,000 miles with no support from Ford. I then went to Ram and I have NEVER looked back. My Ram is tough as nails and love it!!!! 278,000 miles have never had an issue.
Finally a RAM brother in the house!!! Im on my second ram. Had my 06 hemi ram for 8 years and it was still running good at 212k. I just got a 16 Ram with 24k and im loving it.
In my business, I've rented many different cars / SUVs / trucks, right up through model year 2019. My personal vehicle? a 15-year-old Mercury (Ford) Grand Marquis. Cheap to buy, cheap to fix, and cheap to maintain. Sure, it's a bit of a gas hog for a sedan, but when compared to big SUV's and trucks it's about the same. The Ford 4.6L V-8 engine is nearly bulletproof if you take care of it. That['s why so many Police Departments and Taxi companies and Livery services used Crown Victorias, Grand Marquis and Town Cars. The last model year of production was 2011, so you can still find one of these vehicles that isn't too old. 8 or 9 years old here in late 2019 for 2011 models, and they were made all the way back to 1998 or earlier with that engine. Obviously, the older the model year, the cheaper they'll be. A well taken care of 4.6L engine can last 250,000 to 350,000 miles or more. It's like driving your couch. The last of the great American, rear wheel drive V-8s. My wife's car is a 2012 Hyundai Sonata, and I must say, I'm impressed with it, it's a lot of car too for the money. Modern cars, like modern housing construction is about using the cheapest materials and cutting as many corners as possible to maximize profit. Don't kid yourself if you think any one auto manufacturer anywhere in the world isn't trying to maximize profits. However, there's a trail of bread crumbs that will lead you to good purchases. Don't buy a new car, ever, especially if it's a whole new design or redesign that's never existed before. I like to wait at least 3 years to let all the bugs get worked out of the design and see how they're holding up - mechanically, cosmetically, and in terms of resale value. Ask yourself what auto company is motivated to make a quality product and why? Hyundai, for example, is a company that competes with Honda and Toyota, so they have been making quality cars to compete with two manufacturers who have an established reputation of building quality cars. Honda and Toyota themselves are motivated to KEEP making quality cars so as not to lose ground to any competitor. Nissan seems to be falling apart at the seams, Mazda is joining with Toyota, so that will likely make Mazdas better and Toyotas worse, at least in the short term. (Anyone remember Daimler-Chrysler?) The U.S. based auto makers (and I say "U.S. based" VERY loosely) have to compete with foreign imports made in countries where there are minimal or no labor laws, unions, etc, and base wages far lower than their American counterparts, so it's very hard to compete financially with that. The trend all around seem to be to make cars that are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to work on unless you're a highly trained mechanic, so the local mechanics will all but disappear. They want you to go to the dealership to get your car repaired, and we all know the wallet-rape that that involves. Disposable cars. It's a race to see who can fill up the land fills the quickest. Auto salvage yards are going out of business left and right because fewer and fewer people want to (or aren't able to) work on their cars. 2011 and 2012 DO seem a be a turning point in all this, in automotive design, quality, marketing, and repairability. And I for one see it as a negative, a turning point we will never come back from. It's disposable cars from here on out. Soon they'll all be electric, and we all know the resale value of a hybrid or fully electric car that's too old or needs a new drive battery. (The BIG battery). Like a cellphone that can no longer hold a charge, it's tossed aside for new(er) one that can. At least for awhile. But it won't matter anyway, because we'll all be riding in self-driving cars! Soon you won't have to do a thing, just cough up money. That will be all that is required of us. Remember in the Pixar movie Wall-E, where all the remaining humans were terribly fat, myopic dullards glued to their personal video screens? And you thought it was science fiction. Buckle up! It gets interesting from here.
I second this video, GMs quality had really gone down. Look how long Toyota's last, plus there making there vehicles in America and GM is moving to China really.

gendyn58779 that’s definitely correct, they don’t build them like they used to.
GM lost both my family and my business when they accepted a government bailout back in 2008! It’s Ford, Toyota and Honda for me
The bailout was why I bought this Ford

Toyotas are starting to slip in terms of overall being. Competitive
if you tow anything heavy.. don't go with the Toyota, if not then it's great.
GM quality has been poor for much longer than a decade without question - and Chrysler? Where have you been, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep has absolutely been among the worst produced vehicles since mid-70's and it's not even close.
You sir... get the Scotty Kilmer badge of approval! 😎

Chevy, when your driveway turns into a junkyard.
Toyota, when your truck covers the driveway in oil thanks to Toyotas garbage cam towers that leak oil like the Exxon Valdez. The rust fragments are like the sprinkles on top of the chocolate syrup oil puddles, created when the frame rapidly rust rots away within 5 years.
hochhaul at least it leaks oil and doesn’t drink it
@@dylandiprima7100 uh, you do realize that Toyota says that it's normal for their engines to burn up to 1 quart per 1,200 miles.

Chevy sucks. In 1976 the 350 was a good engine but the body was terrible. Rust like it never went with out it. Like si said, the engine was good. In 2011 Chevy changed the suspension on the 2500-3500 series trucks. IMO best riding trucks on the market to this day. Every brand has had failures, some bigger than others. Tundra all the way!!! I have had all the brands!! Toyota is king 👑
Except when they had that problem with sludge build up. Last yota I purchased was in 99.
Hector H 2012, no problems at all, just hit 114k
What more can you ask of a vehicle?
bruce lee why did you drop Toyota and Honda?
Being able to have the ability to check social media or text while driving seems to be the main focus. I agree with you sir. 💯
Totally agree! Most people can’t afford to be ripped off and have to waste a load of cash these days considering maintenance cost.
Always getting asked to sell. ..sorry. Just fits my multiple needs ,especially the built in beer coolers with drains on each side lol...
dennis hildner
Made in Mexico of course and if people ask you to sell it do it before it leaves you stranded
Avs are cool!!!!
Have a 4x4 ram longhorn 1500 since new in 2017. Still no problems truck rides comfortably well and I do recommend it.
Go titan or tundra and you'll never look back that's a real truck
Been driving for 25 years and 95% of my vehicles have been GM. But at 84k, my 3-year-old Malibu has problems I would expect from a 30-year-old car, not something I have 5 years left to pay off. I'll NEVER buy another GM built after 1993, unless it's equipped with the 3800 V6. Other than that, I will likely never buy another Big Three vehicle.
Just give up on GM 100% you will be better off in the long run
Always been. Ford guy never had any luck at all with chevrolet even the older ones i guess they just didn't like me.
@@jasonwulff8341 I've rarely had real problems with GM, but their quality control has gone to shit the past 10-15 years.
@@anonymousinc6330 i work on cars and trucks for a living and GM is buy far the worst.
@@jasonwulff8341 As of late, I won't argue with that. But I've had many from the 80s and early 90s that were damn good vehicles...
That 2003 was real garbage
Chevy had crap quality in the late 80’s and didn’t carry over the years since the 70’s
The last 2005 Yukon Denali I owned.was noting but pure junk.totaly agree with you.
You want to talk about rust? look at Dodge They are the rust kings of the road
The beds over wheel wells on 2010 f 150
Now my cousin has a Chrysler Pacifica in the whole sub frame underneath that cradles the engine is rusted away
@@chrisspear3551 I think Chrysler put rust accelerant on their cars during the building process I have never seen another brand car rust so fast
My buddies 2015 2500 ran was rusting through the panels. That’s shocking. My 2014 Silverado still good with no rust and I live in the Midwest.
Nissan is junk
Lol still Nissan better quality then a chevy
I think it's a tie you will find out
@@willardporter1931 they are both crap. but from what ive heard the frontier is a decent truck. it is an old style truck. in these days thats good.
Chevrolet, I will never buy one since 2008 before 2008 I loved Chevy after that point and my mom bought a 2008 Chevy never again I will stick with Ford and Ram from this point forward. I have better things to do with my time then always be at the shop, and yes I mean ALWAYS.
Scotty Kilmer agrees with this Video
Who cares what Scotty KILMER thinks
They lay off American ppl don’t buy from them
After having to rebuild an engine in a '07 5.3 (blown camshaft, must tear engine down completely to clean all metal shards or engine will fail prematurely) and an 09' 6.0 (blown camshaft, must tear engine down completely to clean all metal shards or engine will fail prematurely) Both of them at 100,000 miles sharp...
Have an 08 5.3 with 240,000 and still climbing. No leaks or knocks. Changed a heater hose and oil sending unit. Knock on wood. Lol
Yeah, I also put 1 million miles on a dodge 4.7. If you aren't lying, you must have one of the few.. But don't worry, it'll quit on you soon. And probably be 10x as catastrophic. :)
FYI, the 2011-19 Explorers were not BOF. New 2020 is RWD, but unibody.
I just feel bad for all people putting deposits on those new Mid-engine Vettes!!!!
Don't feel bad for me. Mine is awesome! Plus it's worth thousands more than I paid for.
GM sells vehicles they want you to buy, not what you want
Owned all Gm's. Chevy trucks and Tahoe's and have been very reliable for me and family. We have 2 Tahoe's that have over 150,000 miles still running great.
Your family's lucky.
GM has lost quality in last 10 years bro
Last 10 years? They've never been known for quality. GM has always been JUNK
10 years shhhhh longer then that
GM has always been at the forefront of corner cutting. Piss poor quality.
Lawrence Meyers .longer than that I owned a 2005 Yukon Denali worst suv.in the world.
Last good GM I had was a caprice wagon. Bullet proof.
I'm a long time Chevrolet person. I don't like GM now because GM is greedy. GM made their vehicles so people like me cannot work on them. They missed the boat as far as I am concerned because they could have done more with the s10 platform. Easy to put V8 in it.
GM quality has been going down for years. They are even at the point where they are using some German parts in their trucks.
German parts are NOT an upgrade - reliability has never been the hallmark of German engineering.
@@noiricha I agree! The woman in charge at GM has a LOT to do with the drop in quality for an increase in profit!
the 3.6
I had Chevy Impala 2015 drove it 6 years straight never had issues
I stopped buying GM after they laid me off and started building vehicles in Mexico. This is after American taxpayers bailed them out of bankruptcy. Oh yeah, my 2010 Impala was a POS too. Everything electrical on it was junk.
My 01 f150 is laughing at all these trucks.
owned - 1990 cavalier - no problems, 2003 monte carlo - no problems till I hit after 90.000 miles, 2017 Camaro - 2 recalls and transmission shutter, 2021 Camaro - no issues yet, but this is my last GM
The GMT800 Tahoe is the best full-size SUV in my opinion. The 2nd gen Tahoe has excellent aftermarket support, very comfortable seats, a bulletproof powertrain, and a cool body style.
07 to 2011 were reliable same chassis as escalade truck from 07
@@issavibez394 they are pretty reliable. Little bit lower interior quality but still very reliable.
Now Chevy has the Colorado zr2 which is very off-road worthy and that mid engine corvette at least right?
GM needs to build something exciting in all segments. Also don't leave the compact/mid-size SUV empty.
The Ford Explorer is a unit body SUV. At least they switched back to RWD for 2020. The choices are limited, 4Runner, Wrangler, or upcoming Bronco.
I can agree with the little trailblazers you were talking about but I know you meant the early s10 blazers. I bought one and swapped a sbc , there is a huge aftermarket selection to choose from when it comes to the s10s.
Last chevy I had was an 82 truck. That thing nickel and dimed me all the time. There was always something wrong with it.
Toyota is doing the same
Ford , Dodge and Chevy late model trucks are all terrible.......Rusty frames on Fords bodies and beds on Dodge and Chevy !!!!!
Sorry to hear.Hope things get better.
