Yes, but what would happen if he wouldn't have brought the car into the dealership and after the 7 days learned that they sold him a car with a blocked warranty? Seems like they were either trying to sneak one by the consumer or don't do a thorough inspection like they say they do. The real test is what would they have done after the 7 days when the owner found out the warranty was blocked. What a relief for him that he brought the car in.

People love to bash car dealers but in all fairness, Carvana seems to be a lot safer option then buying from a traditional dealership. Generally you do not get the option of returning a car once you sign the paperwork, so Carvana's return policy (with little to no-hassle) is a definite plus. As for them not catching the warranty block........well, being a relatively new company, it's not surprising that they still have some bugs to work out. The most important thing, is that you're not stuck with it. I can't see where they were being duplicitous because with all of their guarantees and their return policy, there's very little chance (really almost no chance) that they would get away with it. If anything, this particular experience should be one that demonstrates how safe it is to buy a vehicle from them.

The one big caveat to this though, If you are using their finance which I did. You take a hard credit check hit when buying the car. Now that is OK but if you decide to not keep the car and don't find a different one you like within a short amount of time, then you took that hard credit check hit for nothing and down goes some of your credit rating for nothing.

@@Darclover82 I bought the Nissan Leaf. 2013 model. They now have newer models for near the same price I bought mine back then. If you have less then say 50 miles a day to drive, you can't beat these cars. They are great and costs only like a couple bucks to fully charge them at home. Bad side is if you live in a place like arizona where the temps are crazy high, the battery packs are air cooled so when you got that crazy heat, they can't cool down enough and causes slow battery damage. Winter time can also cause range loss of about 25% depending on how cold it is. That's why I said around 50 miles cause the 24kw battery packs are 80mile range and the 40kw battery packs on the newer ones are around 150 I think. Great around the town car though.

I would have kept it because the block was only on brakes, which is not a big deal if you had to replace them. Suspension is not a big deal. Steering system not a big deal. Powertrain is 50/50 as far as keep or return. The bottom line is Chevy is protecting themselves and base on the mileage. The car was not on the track that much. Base on driving it the track did not do any damage to the car except the chip paint. Most likely the previous owner tried to the get the brakes/suspension replace after it was on the track and Chevy said no. It looks like your rotors and brakes was new. I do understand that returning it was the best thing to do since you could find another corvette.

It just goes to show you that trust no one to inspect the car you are buying except for yourself. When you are beating on a car on the track, 2,158 miles is a lot of beat-down miles. You were smart to return it. A car like that brand new would be around $71-$73,000 MSRP. You bought it at $54,700, which means CARVANA got it a lot cheaper than that. For CARVANA to get it that cheap and sell it to you and make a profit, I would bet my life that they knew exactly what they were selling you, they just hoped you would not catch it or that you would have fallen in love with the car so much during the trial period, that you would not return it. When buying used cars, buyer be very aware, no matter how low the miles are on a vehicle. There is usually a good reason why someone did not want that car anymore, especially when it still looks new and with low miles.

This is an old video but I want to add my 2 cents anyway. Considering that no GM dealer would touch that car with a 10 foot pole, they would basically have to give me that car for me to keep it.
I owned a 99 C5 and had to cough up 1500 dollars for repairs that I feel should have been done under the recall notice that I took the car in for to begin with.
I had the steering wheel locking issue, if you don't know this is where the steering wheel locks up and no matter what you do it's almost impossible to get it to release.
I got it to release one time following instructions found on a Corvette forum and this basically amounted to grab one side of the steering wheel and yank it as hard as you can, which indeed did release the wheel and I didn't have anymore issues for a long long time, the 2nd time it happened I had to get it towed to a dealership.
The "fix" was replacing what they described as a metal bar that would using an electric motor would rotate out locking the steering wheel in place.
However when they called me they told me they had performed the "fix" but the motor that moved the bar had burned out and would cost me a bit over a thousand dollars and to add insult to injury they didn't have any in stock and took them a bit over a month to get a replacement. My only other vehicle at the time was a motorcycle, and it was late fall and getting cold.
I called GM and complained because in my opinion the motor most likely failed due to the recall, they where unsympathetic to my issue to say the least.
So for a good month I got to ride my "summer only" bike in the cold, in the rain and still had to pay for repairs.
Spoiler alert, rain at highway speed hurts like hell, and rainx doesn't work as well on helmets as you would imagine.

then you better buy a brand new corvette. just about any used corvette is going to have a blocked warranty because somebody did a mod or took it to a track. both of which will void your warranty. and "mod" is used very loosely with the warranty. basically if you did your own oil change and didn't use a "DEXOS" approved oil then they could shut you down. it's all bullshit. if you use any parts that don't have some sort of GM seal of approval then you're done. so get all your parts from AC delco or they will nail your ass to the wall. some dealerships won't take a second look at some of that stuff while others will work with torque wrenches just so they can tell you that you didn't use so and so torque spec and that's why this part failed.

Answer. The 150 point inspection is an inspection. Fluids Frame Body Tires brakes interior and exterior. Checked by a 150 point inspection. If there is any signs of an accident it is further analyzed and probably not sold. It is also checked to see IF there is warranty and if there is any recalls. They do not have the capabilities to see if a car is blocked. Your 7 day trial is on you. You need to have the car researched at someone you trust. The dealership is the best place to start. You did the right thing and no you should not keep the car. Floor mats paint and keys are all items that would most likely have been resolved without issue. Don't care where you buy a used car it is a, used car. Your life is in your capabilities to research and make sure its safe. Im a tech by trade and anytime i buy a car even new I still run through it with a fine tooth comb. Great job on going your job and hope all works out.

Carvana sold me a BMW 550i in 2018 that within 16 hours of taking delivery and 137 miles put onto it the car broke down and went into limp mode. I had to pay to have it towed because carvana would only pay the first $50. The car had over $2,400 in problems being a high pressure fuel pump, battery, and a new starter. They only had 3 blemishes pointed out on the app and when taking delivery they did it inside where you could only see shiny paint. A few days later I notice the paint on the bumper is literally peeling off. They compensated me $50 for it... takes a lot more than $50 to repaint a bumper. I kept it for 4 months like an idiot instead of giving it back and lost thousands of dollars when I traded it in for a new car at BMW instead because I didn’t want to deal with the bullshit anymore.

It's funny to have run across this.
I have a 2016 Corvette Stingray which is the virtual twin of this car; right down to the racing seats and yellow brake calipers. I knowingly purchased it 3 years ago with 5,000 miles and warranty blocks. I knew that the car had been used by GM to teach people to drive and race cars like this. The warranty blocks resulted in me buying the car at a much lower price than an identical car without the warranty blocks. I estimate that it was priced ~$15,000 lower than a comparable car without the blocks would have cost. I figured that this car was built solidly, after all, tracking a Corvette doesn't void its warranty. I also figured that if taken care of (not beaten and abused), it should easily last through what would have been its warranty period. Wrong; big wrong, major wrong!
Although this car performs incredibly and looks amazing it has had more than its share of issues. I would not recommend that anyone buy a warranty blocked car unless they planned on tearing it apart to build a full blown track car out of it.

I'm writing several years after your video (2021) only because someone may find my experience useful. Carvana delivered to me a car (2015 Ford Taurus SEL) with multiple steering and suspension issues that were never disclosed prior to purchase. Upon having an in-network mechanic inspect the car he detailed issues that would cost upwards of $3,000 to fix. On the plus side, Carvana agreed to extend my 7 day return option an additional 4 days---with the promise to extend further if needed---while the parts were delivered and installed. The company that Carvana contracts with for repairs, Silver Rock, agreed to pay for the repairs. To that end, I was impressed with both Carvana and Silver Rock's customer service and willingness to make the situation right, but that still leaves the rather disturbing fact that Carvana would deliver a car---and say it passed inspection---that needed such costly repairs. I was hoping my experience was an oddity, but I just don't know.

dtc6776 - It is a safety precaution and mandatory on some tracks. Floor mats can slip and interfere with the pedals - You don't want the mat to get jammed up underneath your brake pedal. In this case, it certainly wasn't because the car was bought at auction because it had its mats before he rented it out and it came back without them which means someone removed them. Thus, the immediate suspicion is that they removed them to take the car on the track (and neglected to replace them afterwards).

Having the piece of mind knowing if something mechanical goes wrong, the manufacturer will cover it. So yeah, I would have returned it too. The previous owner probably screwed something up when he ran it on the track and you don't want that coming out of your pocket.
