Hey from the UK :) mum of 6 too 19, 16, 15, 12, 7 and 3 plus my bonus kiddies every other weekend and half holiday 12 and 5. Inspirational family x I love to watch your videos x
The add chipotle in adobo sauce in pico de gallo salsa, birria and enchilada sauce. The smoky, spicy flavor is delicious. I make sure to blend it thoroughly though because the big pieces are spicy.
I have seen it mentioned in so many recipes, but it wasn't until someone told me that I'd like it that I googled it and realised that it was smoked jalapenos! I'm sure we will like it in a variety of things, it will just take some tweaking to figure it out :D I assume I can freeze it if we only use small amounts out of the jars and I bought smallish jars on special to give it a go before investing in any decent amount! :D
Great haul . I am always fascinated by what groceries people buy. You shop similarly to me. Mostly raw or one ingredient foods. We also preserve whatever excess we get. Thanks again for sharing. 🤩🤩
Certainly is. I am a very concerned regarding processed foods in the sense that chemicals, preservatives and additives in food do harm to our bodies long term. I also know that many people have little knowledge about it and some simply don't know how to cook. I also think that it's more convenient and not everyone has the time. My mother is riddled with arthritis and finds cutting up meat and veg difficult, so she orders Lite 'n' Easy. I have offered to cook her main meals but she declined. Each to their own though. I have multiple allergies and quite often, the inside of my mouth peels and I know I am allergic to that particular food. We don't eat out often and when we do, I have to be careful what I eat. Unlike hubby who has an ironclad stomach...🤣😂🤣😂
@@kerrijones719 I can eat just about everything lol, it’s D and the kids who have issues with things! I like to ingredient shop so I know what’s in things but I’m not averse to a little convenience as well heh and I’m lucky that I have the time to put in!
Oh Dear Nyssa, how I love the grocery hauls too! YOU are wonderful at making the family food budget spread it's wings sooo far and wide! The foods you buy are wonderful and will turn into the most delicious dishes that we all love to see you prepare...(Don't mind us drooling, but we can't help it! LoL!) ~ Wonderful presentation - as always! 💗🌹
Great northern beans are my favorite dried beans, think I could eat them everyday and still enjoy them, they were a staple growing up in a family of 11....those mushrooms are beautiful...I like that u have a ritual of hot dogs when u return home from shopping each time ( not the best for cardiac, so I don't eat often...remember me when u have your dogs, I'll live vicariously thru yall 😁)...kudos to u, Ms Nyssa, lot of hard work, a great haul...
They’re so not a great meal lol, but they’re tasty! And D cooks odd onion and bacon as well to have with them heh! When I googled they were a suggested white bean! I was glad to find some inexpensively :)
I'm trying to get the spreadsheeting put up with the different prices and that way I can cost out some meals and stuff too, I like to look at it, it helps with decision making sometimes to think about those things as I'm planning! :D
I am really grateful for Adam at the F&V I go to, he takes me to the cold room so I can buy things by the box and I buy some boxes that are a bit meh, but really cheap and just make sure to process them fairly quickly!
My favorite videos.i watch them several times.. you don't buy junk.. love it...and I love watching you use it. Your family is well cared for honey..I noticed I made a spelling error in my last comment..I hope I didn't offend you or your husband..God bless
Not at all! Names are always spelt so differently by everyone, I have no issue whatsoever with how people hear and interpret! :D. (I'm assuming it was a name, as that is the normal thing to misspell hehe) I like to treat the kids, but preferably in small things that can't be wolfed down because 'its there' hehe, they get the hamper treats and when they go to town with D they normally get 'something' as well hehe, and of course I bake them more things than they need, though those fancy packaging treats are always going to be more appealing in their eyes hehe.
I actually spent less than I thought I had in the end, it was fairly well budgeted, I think I was a bit anxious after all the costs of the floor and was trying very hard to keep costs down, plenty of food though! :D. and means that if needed, I can get D to grab a few extras mid month, though I definitely try and avoid doing that!
@@vermontnative5676 I think its just our innate curiosity hehe, comparing products and thought processes and just seeing what other people prioritise in their food choices, and also of course snarking! It's always fun to do that (privately, of course lol)
I just recently found your channel and have binge watched many of your videos. Love your grocery hauls. I am amazed at you living off grid with your family. I know I am not strong enough to do it!!
Was really surprised you had already posted, just came on and saw the notification and I was like ooh, Nyssa has posted, bet your shattered. Of course, had to stop what I'm doing to watch lol. Never realised until recently, Black Treacle is the same as Molasses who knew! not me. An idea with chick peas, don't know if you have ever tried it, a curry ( Chana Masala ) I tweak it a bit as, my daughter likes really spicy food.
Oooh, I'll google, thank you! :D Hehe, I like to just get it done that evening, while its fresh and then I can let it upload and run all its checks etc overnight while I sleep. Otherwise I ramble and squirrel even more having had a night to sleep on it all lol!
We love to buy in bulk... but it makes a world of difference when you don't need to do it all at once. It is quite an effort with the distance you manage and volumes needed for a larger family. It's so lovely seeing all the hands pulling together with the offloading 💖
Always interesting to see what you get Nyssa. Thanks for sharing, I can appreciate the effort involved to set it all up to show us these large grocery hauls (especially after your big trip home to get everything)! Considering the price the supermarkets sell an individual avocado for at the moment I think the $10 you paid for that whole box was an absolute bargain! Hope you're all safe out your way this evening with these severe thunderstorms rolling through.
Definitely a bargain! Sometimes the extra step of laying it out and filming is hard lol, but I persevere! :D. We got some heavy rain and lots of thunder and lightning, but nothing too extensive! :D
Always enjoy your hauls and ALWAYS amazed at what a great budgeter you are!!!!The food you buy is so well thought out for the family meals ,never boring and so nutritious 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Love from the UK x
I say this every time but just looking at all of this makes me exhausted just thinking about your having to do it ALL primarily alone in such a small amount of time! Kudos to you girl once again! I wish I could imagine you now resting with your feet up with a nice refreshing drink but somehow I’m thinking that is just fantasy! Lol… deep breathes at least I hope.
Perfect timing Nyssa! Just come inside and made a coffee, looking forward to seeing your haul. Hope you’ve had a rest after your big days out lovely xx Cathi xx 😘
Definitely lol, even just once its home, you think, the last 1.5hours to drive (I normally stop at a servo at about that point to use the bathroom etc) but then I get home and we have to unload and lay it all out and film it and urgh lol... and then I have to assess what needs using first and then get it all processed and then by the time that happens its only a couple of weeks till the next one lol! But hey! If I didn't do it, we wouldn't be eating anywhere near the quality of the food we are!
You got a lot! I think you got some nice choices. I can't imagine how exhausting it is to do all of this at once but at least it's all done! Great job!
It’s always interesting to see what you get even though so much of it is the same each shopping trip. It seems like it should get boring but it just doesn’t. It must be how you do your voice overs because the snippets of info you weave into going over each item is so well done! Now I am ready for the post shopping trip preservation videos!
@@OurSmallFootprint it doesn’t feel repetitive at all, although I’m starting to feel like I know Fruit and Veg guy 🤣🤣 he’s like a mysterious faceless regular on your channel!
@@ANNtique heh, I mention to him that I mention him in the videos! Maybe I’ll ask if I can film the shop (without getting other customers) next time I’m there!
Hello from the Midlands of the UK! Fantastic haul, am learning so many ideas from you for meals and prepping for storage, I think these are lost skills here in the UK. Lots of grumbles about cost of living crisis but plenty still seem to fill their baskets with ready prepared meals as 10AUD a pop…. It’s an expensive way to buy salt and preservatives for sure 😂 Will be looking forward to seeing what you do with those gorgeous looking plums!
Convenience versus budget in the end isn't it! and every person has the right to choose, but I'm glad I have the skills to make things and not have to pay for the convenience! :D
So much lovely grub! And great that you’ve kept your costs down (the UK equivalent is £1 per person per meal, which is brilliant, even for the tightest budget.) Looking forward to the sushi this month, I have all the fixings but I’m the only one who eats it so haven’t gotten round to making it - if you show us, it might be my much-needed kick up the backside!
Then I'm doing something right by sharing hehe, I love that people get inspired by the food and the budgeting and the using it all! I never thought I would have any value to offer on here, but I'm so glad that people are finding value :D
They were a good price too! Saves me paying shipping to buy it via honest to goodness, they have great pricing but the shipping ends up being about $1 per kg, so that kicks the prices up too much on some things
@@OurSmallFootprint chipotle in adobe sauce is a staple in our kitchen. Soups, stews, chilli, you name it. We have the same brand here 🇨🇦 but in small cans not the larger bottles like yours. Snowing, raining with lightning and thunder here presently. Spring in Eastern Canada 🙄🥶🤣
@@heatherchambers1609 I’d imagine I could prob freeze it in small portions if needed! But I’ll have to see how it lasts in the fridge and maybe if I can grow jalapeños this year I can smoke my own!
Your fruit & veg prices are amazing. We shopped at Woolies yesterday and was absolutely shocked at the rise in prices especially canned corn. Mince is $14 - 16 per kilo so your prices are amazing. I also paid $4 for half of a red cabbage. Your price per week is amazing for 8 people compared to ours for 3. I made your pesto pasta and chicken yesterday which we loved very much. My husband doesn't like basil so I used a tomato based one with veggie pasta (we can't eat too much gluten). Were going to use the rest of the jar for more soon, thanks.
The trip to Brisbane is well worth it in savings for quality, its a hard slog, but we could never eat as well as we do for the cost any other way! The kids quite like the tomato based one as well, its such an easy meal but so very tasty :D
@@jennifernewman7678 I am so lucky to have found this one (Mega Fresh Browns Plains - I always try and give him a shout out!) and ended up with a good relationship with Adam there!
Glad the big cans of tomatoes were still available at Costco for you. You did pretty good with the change of brands and what qties were available. Your fruit and vegies haul looked good. I will say though, not a fan of the Shepherds Advocados but that is what is out there now. I bought meat at just Coles and Woolies yesterday. All was marked down, so happy for now. Though I need more mince. I checked a local butchers out I hadn't been to before and was horrified at the prices. Still determined to find a more local reasonable priced meat source. We seem to be eating more meat now for some reason. Good luck with the 1/2 cow coming up for you. Hope you'll have enough room to put it all. Being mindful of freezer space as you shop too, woah is me. That is the thing - room isn't it. I was happy just hearing the comment here that the shelves now look well restocked. Makes it worth while. Going to Bunnings today. I'm looking forward to it - exciting life I lead lol. Better that I am off there by myself too!
Oooh, but bunnings is an outing, especially if you get to go on your own, can waste many hours! They're not my fave avo either, and I find them a bit harder to peel and pit, but beggars can't be choosers and all that lol :D. I found a place for the 1/2 cow that does $14.75/kg I think it was and no delivery costs, so that's not bad! I dunno, I struggle, Mince is only $9.99/kg and realistically we can deal with only mince, but man its nice to have the other cuts, but is it worth the cost!
Looks like you found some pretty good deals. I don’t go l to the store often unless my husband takes me. I get really worn out. We get to go to lunch and just hang out with each other. He drives over the road with FedEx so he is gone a lot. I enjoyed today video TFS !!!
It is pretty exhausting to do groceries, no matter what size! Darryl and I haven't left the house together in 4.5 yearsish lol, we don't have a car that fits us all, so its always one or the other of us going with some kids along :D
I got 4 Boxes of tomatos this morning at the farmers market for $5 each was a bargin, also a box of red chillis and a box of jalapenos for $5 each I was happy with them, just wish I could find a box of onions cheap, might just have to go buy a big bag instead. Great shopping haul though...a lot to be processed
Yeah, the tomatoes weren’t super cheap but they were ok. Nothing was super cheap this month, but some months are a bit like that when I can’t alter my timing :). Great score!
You did good... considering the price increases.., here's to getting that 1/2 cow , bulk purchasing is always good...tfs and looking forward to seeing you in action creating with all this...see you on the next one.
I think I managed to get enough variety even with looking at the prices! Adding the beef in would definitely be nice, but we'll manage regardless I think!.
@@OurSmallFootprint you did good with variety that’s for sure… I’m sure you’ll do just fine if you don’t manage the cow but what a lovely buffer that would be…. You’ll notice to as the boys get bigger they tend to get repetitive with their food choices.. well that’s what I noticed with my boys…tbt I did not mind one bit.. 🤣.. saved me some sweat in the kitchen
I was really happy to score those! I have to cut up some of the zucchini that had a bit of ick spots, but I'll just do that first thing and freeze it or use it! and D will be set with marinated mushrooms for a while now! heh.
I will yes, everyone seems to love them! Though I do sometimes wonder if they feel a little repetitive lol, but they're requested so I attempt to do them when time permits and there's nothing significant hindering this time :)
You are amazing Nyssa🤩 It’s a massive couple of days for you!!! A great haul, those avocados look lovely & so many mushrooms for D to enjoy. So do the dogs eat scraps vs commercial dog food? As well as the bones you get for them. Do you store the yeast in the freezer?. Hoping you can have a restful day today before the processing starts 🥰🌻🌿
We buy commercial dry kibble, that way we know they're getting a good ratio of what they need, we buy it from the feed store where we get the chook/pig food. Then when we have things to feed them we ratio that down to add to the 'wet' food, Surreal is the one who feeds them and she has measuring cups to use dependant on what we have to feed them! If we had more storage space, I'd probably make more of their food, but we have to store the carcasses etc to be able to cook it down and then once its cooked down it needs to be refrigerated etc, I considered canning it for them, but that's a lot of jars and seals for a daily used thing iykwim!
Great choice of sauces. I find new recipe with just a new sauce and vegetable. Your packing is also quite different and you can tell which products are from Costco because of the size. Great finds for 6 weeks!! New sub here!!
That's a huge haul! What do you store all your dry goods into to keep them safe from pests or vermin? I love seeing the kids running around with no shoes! It's so much better for their health!
We have heavy duty black totes for things like the rice cakes/crackers, oats, I have food grade screw lid barrels from Bunnings for all the flour and rice, sugar etc! and we have a couple of sealed closing cupboards for things like the cereal boxes and the UHT milks etc :D
Your fancy blender would make tahini. Check your prices for sesame seeds vs tahini. When I make hummus I just throw sesame seeds in with the chickpeas and skip the tahini all together
Thank you, I am a bit slack when it comes to going to new places, I have such a routine of where I go and what I get that sometimes the idea of heading somewhere new really just urgh lol. I got told that Lighthouse had something cheap I normally buy too, I'll have to go back to search! But a trip to Slacks Creek might need to be done next trip!
I started dancing for joy in bed when the notification came up!! ❤ Remind us again, what is your budget for the 6 weeks? I wish we had a costco in Ireland though I'd probably either get lost ir decide to live there 😂 The pork was an amazing price to get by the box and those avocados!! 😍 total score! I try to get a bunch of them whe they're 49c in our Aldi or Lidl and make Guacamole, pop them into containers and freeze them. 😋 Great with sushi too 😁
I try and aim to stay under $2 per head per meal (obviously, this is a generalised amount, because we don’t only eat 3 meals and some are cheaper etc) it’s just a point of reference to compare! So about 2k for the 6 weeks I am happy with. A lot of months carry some products over as well and I include all non food items in there too lol. So it’s kinda variable! As much as I have a budget in that I’m trying to spend the smallest amount possible on the best food, food is one of our biggest expenses and rightly so! The kids still need plenty to eat. If that kinda makes sense ? I will definitely have to process and freeze them, great buy and varied in ripeness which gives me a little time!
Ah! I couldn't remember if you were 2.3k or there abouts. It all makes perfect sense. I tend to set aside €400 for "bulk shopping" per month, food, toiletries, washing stuff etc, and I tend to have enough for a few months at a time. It's so much easier doing it that way because as you have seen and experienced, some of our favourite items aren't available 😕 The rest of the time, I try to keep within €60 & €100 per week but that depends on what's asked for that week too 😂 Loads of time with the avos! Just don't blink or they'll all go rotten 😂🙄
@@rainbowmommelissa I definitely have a ceiling amount each shop, but it can vary, depending on what I've managed to put aside or not, with the cost of the floors this month, I was probably even more frugal than normal, whilst still making sure we could get through. I definitely find stocking up on some things that will last the way to go too though! I struggle with storing flour and some dry goods efficiently though, I would love to drag the shopping out a little more, but not until we can get the pantry built!
What a fabulous shop you have done. Except for the meat I liked it all! When we were meat eaters none of us eat much of it so never missed it. Husband do like ham for sarnies though we’re not strick veggies. Looking forward to your meals this month. Sue wales.
I really enjoy meat, I don't think i'd like to give it up completely, but I do try and reduce it somewhat where I can, partly for cost, but partly for the varied nutrition as well! :D
Farm clothes are my kids favourites . Lol . We are getting a ¼ cow in about 3 weeks , it's been a while and we're really looking forward to it. You got a fantastic fruit and veg haul . Substitutions are so random that I've actually ticked no subs on anything now if I do an online order . But I do have the privilege of choosing a sub later too. Lots of great meals coming up. I'm interested to see your sushi and what you think of the Worcestershire sauce. Thank you for sharing lovely ❤
I think I'll do no sub next time, it is why I got it delivered on the Wed evening so that I could go get other stuff on Thurs if needed! Beef is such a treat, i'm hoping things work out for me to get it! I hope we love the worcestershire sauce because it will be nice having it made rather than buying it! :D and a good use of the plums I have on the shelf :D
I'm really excited to see what you think of the chipotles. They are spicy so a little does a lot and the smoke is really good. My husband likes to blend the can and spread it on stuff *barf* but I like it in marinades and part of a wet rub 😊 glad you got home safe! Edit: it's odd that thighs are more expensive there, here thighs* and drummies are the cheapest after whole chicken.
I think the thighs got popular with people after the whole fat isn't as bad as we think movement etc, they used to be cheaper! Each has its place lol, I love breasts for some things, but thighs are my fave as marinated/grilled chicken. Whole chooks are not cheap here, it drives me nuts, because I love whole chooks, but we're talking $4.50kg being 'cheap' and for the amount of meat on them and the potential for waste (with kids who don't clean off bones well) it just isn't cost effective, I try really hard to get them when they're on special but chicken has gone up across the board. I'm looking forward to trying them! :D
@@OurSmallFootprint hopefully the avian flu that has caused all things cluck to skyrocket will simmer TF down. If tofu goes up I won't actually do anything besides mean mug the cooler but still mean mug nonetheless blarg lol
I love your 6 week hauls. Lots of work. You definitely don’t have babies any more. Everyone helping unload really showed how they have grown. No wonder you are moving through more food every meal. I wonder if you have a Lidl store in Brisbane. The brother’s of Aldi’s owns it. Good prices. Some better than Aldi’s.
I really like that this one sends it to a butcher near you (Toowoomba for me, I'll find the name of the place and come back to you, I can't think of it off the top of my head) and gets it processed there, so I just have to go to the butcher in Toowoomba to collect!
Hello. I no longer buy bakers flour bc I found it cheaper and easier to buy Vital Wheat Gluten. For every 1 cup of flour remove 1 teaspoon flour and add gluten. Walla! Bakers flour
That could be handy, thank you, I'll have a look! I'm pretty good at using plain flour in most of my breads now, because I understand how the dough should feel I can compensate! :D
@@OurSmallFootprint You're so right. You are amazing. I adopted your overnight sour dough recipe and my family thinks I am queen of bread. Lol. I told them it's your recipe. My kiddos request it constantly. Btw: Thank you!
I have to get my younger sister to start watching your videos. She always complains of not having enough money. She has 4 kids under the of 12. She keeps taking them to McDonalds. I keep telling her your kids will definitely eat more as they get older. My budget for 2 adults is $150 per week. I buy diet mince which is $19 per kg and whole chicken $8.00 per kg.
It's hard to feed kids enough on a budget, it definitely takes some work to have it avail to them, conveniences make it difficult too, I think living so far from shops definitely helped me to learn about making it all stretch etc! It helps that I have the time too though, I always say that the lack of commute adds many hours in a day for us, the kids have plenty of time for schoolwork and I get all the cooking and gardening done etc without having to leave the property! :D
You make this look so easy! I know its not. Looking forward to you sourcing bulk meat. I can't find it as affordable as it seems to be in the US. The shops have cheaper per kg for the things I'd use the most
It definitely isn't cheap like the US seems to be able to buy it in bulk. The cheapest I can find it is $14.75/kg by the looks, which is more expensive than mince, but much cheaper for other cuts, its about that toss up isn't it, if I don't buy other cuts then its cheaper just to buy mince only! But at the same time, those other cuts we don't buy because they're so expensive and this would bring the price down! definitely hard, the last time I did it, it ended up way to expensive and we went through it far too quickly, I'd like to give one more place a try before deciding whether its just unfeasible or not.
Last time I just pieced, dipped in lemon juice and froze them! I think I’ll do similar this time but I might also blend some and freeze it as a spread/dip
@@daniellem2477 it works quite well, you don’t want to defrost and let sit for too long but in smoothies is good or as guac/mash so long as you use it promptly, freeze in like single serve portions kinda thing
I meant to ask too, do you buy less meat and “fridge stuff” in Summer because of fridge storage? I think I remember you using the freezer more in Summer. xx 😘
I have to be really careful in summer about what I buy and timing, if we run out of room in the fridge than those things have to be processed straight away (or stored in esky’s so there is definitely a bit of a difference between summer and winter in that sense. But we also have issues in winter, things like potatoes can sometimes freeze if left out!
That’s what I had been buying I think and there’s a gypsy one at Costco that when it’s on sale is lovely! But the coles were only $12/kg so decided to try them and then got stuffed around lol. Coffee is a vice so trying to make it as cheap as possible a vice is important for me hehe
Thats awesome. Great haul. Have you got an IGA down there? They have great sales on sometimes. Your prices are a bit cheaper then ours up here in Mackay but we don't have an Aldi or Costco anywhere near us. Lol.
We have an IGA in town, I always check the specials if D is heading there! There are a couple of larger ones in Brisbane though, I haven't really thought to check them out when down there! I'm grateful for Aldi and Costco they definitely save us some money.
Thank you for your regular uploads Nyssa...and I love seeing your interactions with the kids when they pop in and out of videos ❤ Did one of the girls cut their hair?
When you picked up the soap I thought of a funny story about my eldest son, living in a hot, red dust outback area, I thought my son was finally getting a tan, until he and his mates went swimming in a dam, he came out white, the little brat was just standing under the shower, not washing himself.
Lol, kids! when we first moved out here, the sand was so abrasive and so not what they were used to they all got this scaly rash type thing, and lost like the top layer of skin, it didn't hurt so long as we kept it moist (Kavik being 2 was the worst hit) but since then they seem to have built up a tolerance to it! we definitely try and supervise showering at least a few times a week to make sure that they are getting the whole process done rather than just playing lol.
I’m curious how you figure out what to get at the fruit & veg shop. Is it solely based on price, like if something is a great price you will get it even if you don’t have plans for it? Is there any produce you get no matter the price? So you have any idea ahead of time what the price/availability is or is it all spur of the moment? 🧐🤔
Pretty much all spur of the moment lol, I always buy Carrots, Potatoes and Onions, and generally speaking I'll buy apples no matter what - the variety depends on price though, so sometimes quality is a little lacking because they're storage apples etc, but the kids are pretty un fussy! Part of the buying is the space in the car too, the fruit and veg takes up a lot of room, so sometimes I go, hrmm, i'll only grab one box and then I get home and am processing and I kick myself for not grabbing more! But it has to fit somewhere as well! :D. I definitely buy things without plans, and figure it out once I'm home :D
Yes, we make popcorn on the stove top regularly with a bit of ghee, I bought a 25kg bag of pop corn seeds in my last bulk order! :). Sonnet is really good at making it :)
Australia is famous for sheep stations, do you not eat lamb? I hate putting away groceries and I only shop for one person, does everyone help putting the groceries away or do you prefer to do it yourself?
Lamb isn't real cheap unfortunately, I looked at it again today, they sell a half lamb for only $13.99/kg at Costco but because its a half it ends up being over $100 for the tray, the cutlets were like $40/kg and the roasts were I dunno, $15 I think, and I LOVE roast lamb, but its one of those meals that doesn't stretch we end up with just one and a bit meals out of a roast, so I decided it wasn't economical :S. lol. Everyone helps! But, in saying that, lol, I end up having to go through and reorganise the shelves once they put it away because nothing is ever stacked in a way I can see what I have and they don't rotate, so I go back in and rotate all the cans etc hehe :D
I somehow thought lamb might be cheaper in Australia, too bad😢. It is a dilemma, get the kids and hubby to pitch in or do it right the first time yourself 😂. Have a great day/night!

@@kerrijones719 I can eat just about everything lol, it’s D and the kids who have issues with things! I like to ingredient shop so I know what’s in things but I’m not averse to a little convenience as well heh and I’m lucky that I have the time to put in!
The only thing I dislike about your hauls is waiting the six weeks for another one!!! Thank you for sharing!! ❤
hehe, 6 weekly is more than enough! :D
I’m sure it is for you!!! Thank you for sharing!!! I love your channel!! ❤
Thank you Carol :D. I have definitely gotten the budget down lately, which is really nice with the cost of food! :D
I so appreciate the breakdown
I'm trying to get the spreadsheeting put up with the different prices and that way I can cost out some meals and stuff too, I like to look at it, it helps with decision making sometimes to think about those things as I'm planning! :D
The fresh produce looks beautiful..regards
It's great quality! even the 'dodgy' stuff has more good than bad in it :D
You always get such great produce at great prices. Produce is so expensive in the states. I hope you have a great week.
I am really grateful for Adam at the F&V I go to, he takes me to the cold room so I can buy things by the box and I buy some boxes that are a bit meh, but really cheap and just make sure to process them fairly quickly!
Thanks for sharing your lifestyle with us. I’m fascinated by it & just know that you have the best personality for this platform.
Thank you Diane! :D
:D. (I'm assuming it was a name, as that is the normal thing to misspell hehe)
I like to treat the kids, but preferably in small things that can't be wolfed down because 'its there' hehe, they get the hamper treats and when they go to town with D they normally get 'something' as well hehe, and of course I bake them more things than they need, though those fancy packaging treats are always going to be more appealing in their eyes hehe.
What is SLS.please.That they are allergic to.
Loved watching this
Thanks Marie :)
Even with the prices having gone up, I think you did great!!! Can't wait to see all the goodness you make with all of it!
I don’t know exactly why but your grocery hauls and your hampers are my favorites.
Welcome! and thank you :D. It's just the norm for us now :D
Hehe, I like to just get it done that evening, while its fresh and then I can let it upload and run all its checks etc overnight while I sleep.
Definitely a bit of a task hehe, but we manage and the kids aren't 'keen' to help, but they know its part and parcel of being fed! :D
@@OurSmallFootprint Glad you didn't get any damage. That rain will be good for your fruit trees and garden!
@@makingendsmeet So good for the ground and garden! :D
Loved the grocery haul. Nice to see the differences in our food.. how it’s packaged, price and so forth.
It's always interesting isn't it! :D
Always enjoy your hauls and ALWAYS amazed at what a great budgeter you are!!!!The food you buy is so well thought out for the family meals ,never boring and so nutritious 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Love from the UK x
I try hard to get a good variety, fairly good nutrition overall but also what everyone likes to eat! It's not always feasible, but I do try hehe :D
Looks like you caught aii😊
I say this every time but just looking at all of this makes me exhausted just thinking about your having to do it ALL primarily alone in such a small amount of time! Kudos to you girl once again! I wish I could imagine you now resting with your feet up with a nice refreshing drink but somehow I’m thinking that is just fantasy! Lol… deep breathes at least I hope.
Heh, we’re still finishing the Reno’s after the termites today, supposed to storm this arvy so trying to make sure everything is in the right spot!
Perfect timing Nyssa! Just come inside and made a coffee, looking forward to seeing your haul. Hope you’ve had a rest after your big days out lovely xx Cathi xx 😘
Early to bed and am still lounging around atm heh
@@OurSmallFootprint don’t blame you one bit after that mammoth trip xx 😘
Yes, definately love these ones, however, also love your cooking ones as well.
Everyone loves watching a grocery haul hehe.
Though,it is great to have all the food, it must be a mixed bag of emotions. Glad to have it but now I have to prepare and process and preserve.😮
Great video! Love all that produce. You are phenomenal at getting such nutritious food for your children on a budget.
I try, its hard sometimes, and we have some leaner weeks than others, but we make it! :D
Heya... I can't believe I've only just found your channel. I'm in love already lol. Time to binge watch lol xx
Welcome! :D. hehe, sometimes the UA-cam algorithm is odd :D
You got a lot! I think you got some nice choices. I can't imagine how exhausting it is to do all of this at once but at least it's all done! Great job!
I much prefer the exhaustion of doing it once per 6 weeks than more regularly hehe.
It’s always interesting to see what you get even though so much of it is the same each shopping trip. It seems like it should get boring but it just doesn’t. It must be how you do your voice overs because the snippets of info you weave into going over each item is so well done! Now I am ready for the post shopping trip preservation videos!
I definitely feel like it must get repetitive! But at the same time, there is some variations I suppose heh
@@OurSmallFootprint it doesn’t feel repetitive at all, although I’m starting to feel like I know Fruit and Veg guy 🤣🤣 he’s like a mysterious faceless regular on your channel!

love it xxx
So much lovely grub! And great that you’ve kept your costs down (the UK equivalent is £1 per person per meal, which is brilliant, even for the tightest budget.) Looking forward to the sushi this month, I have all the fixings but I’m the only one who eats it so haven’t gotten round to making it - if you show us, it might be my much-needed kick up the backside!
It takes time and effort to prepare the food on such a low budget, but I think its worth it, and it was partly why we chose the lifestyle! :D
I always love the grocery hauls. I've started trying to budget more since watching you.
Then I'm doing something right by sharing hehe, I love that people get inspired by the food and the budgeting and the using it all! I never thought I would have any value to offer on here, but I'm so glad that people are finding value :D
What a haul! I wish stores here offered the big bags of chick peas. I use them often and they are difficult to find here.
They were a good price too! Saves me paying shipping to buy it via honest to goodness, they have great pricing but the shipping ends up being about $1 per kg, so that kicks the prices up too much on some things
Love your hair tied back.😊
Thank you :D
I do enjoy your hauls! I remember having 6 kiddos at home. Grocery shopping was a feat! You always get great deals.😊

Hi! Thanks for watching :D
We like the Chipotle (just a little) in taco soup! So yum!
I think we'll be similar, just a dash in a few different dishes! :D

@@OurSmallFootprint Thats really a big thing, no reactions!!
Just found your channel, just adore you and your family!
Welcome! And thank you :)
Your price on zucchini and mushrooms!!!! Wow!!!+
I was really happy to score those! I have to cut up some of the zucchini that had a bit of ick spots, but I'll just do that first thing and freeze it or use it! and D will be set with marinated mushrooms for a while now! heh.
Great haul!!! Lots of good stuff! Are you going to do the daily videos of prepping everything again? I have enjoyed all of your videos! Great job!
I will yes, everyone seems to love them! Though I do sometimes wonder if they feel a little repetitive lol, but they're requested so I attempt to do them when time permits and there's nothing significant hindering this time :)
The produce looks so good and such good value in today's climate!
Great prices, I'm really lucky that Adam and Mega Fresh looks after me!
Welcome! Yes the sizing is always bigger at Costco heh. Changing one ingredient can alter a whole meal can’t it heh, it works well!
Great job! Great shop which i think its pretty good value!
The worst part of groceries for me is having to put it all away 😒😂

I didn’t know you had a Aldi and Costco in Australia! New to channel! Hi from Tennessee ❤
Welcome! There are quite a few Aldi's, less Costcos, which is why I travel, but worthwhile! :D
Tribe of Judah at Slacks Creek have 3kg tins of crushed tomatoes for $4.99. Next time you’re in Brisbane give them a try.
Remind us again, what is your budget for the 6 weeks?
I wish we had a costco in Ireland though I'd probably either get lost ir decide to live there 😂
The pork was an amazing price to get by the box and those avocados!! 😍 total score!
I try to get a bunch of them whe they're 49c in our Aldi or Lidl and make Guacamole, pop them into containers and freeze them. 😋
Great with sushi too 😁
I try and aim to stay under $2 per head per meal (obviously, this is a generalised amount, because we don’t only eat 3 meals and some are cheaper etc) it’s just a point of reference to compare!
It's so much easier doing it that way because as you have seen and experienced, some of our favourite items aren't available 😕
The rest of the time, I try to keep within €60 & €100 per week but that depends on what's asked for that week too 😂
Loads of time with the avos!
@@erikhouweling1552 I know heh, but if I can at least get my pantry built this year it will make a massive difference!

@@OurSmallFootprint it’s weird because I haven’t eaten meat since 1990 but I’m always interested in your meat purchases and what you make with it.
Farm clothes are my kids favourites . Lol . We are getting a ¼ cow in about 3 weeks , it's been a while and we're really looking forward to it. You got a fantastic fruit and veg haul .
My 👒 is off to you momma. Great 👍 haul.much love ❤️ 😍 from California ♥️ ❤️ 👏

Hi Nyssa,
I always enjoy watching your grocery videos.
You didn't mention what you are planning on doing with all the avos before they go brown?
Last time I just pieced, dipped in lemon juice and froze them! I think I’ll do similar this time but I might also blend some and freeze it as a spread/dip
Oh ok, I didn't know Avocados can be frozen. That makes sense then
@@daniellem2477 it works quite well, you don’t want to defrost and let sit for too long but in smoothies is good or as guac/mash so long as you use it promptly, freeze in like single serve portions kinda thing
Aldi's Lazzio medium roast 2kg coffee beans are good! I THInKKKK they're $15
Thank you for your regular uploads Nyssa...and I love seeing your interactions with the kids when they pop in and out of videos ❤
Did one of the girls cut their hair?
Yes, Sonnet requested a 'bowl cut' lol, so its shaved up the back and sides and a bit of a bowl on the top. Apollo did it for her :)
@@OurSmallFootprint I love that, I'm pretty sure we've all had sibling cut our hair at some stage 😄 she suits it!
@@leesa1548 it’s very cute, even if it reminds me of the character from that dumb and dumber movie lol.
@@OurSmallFootprint 😂😅
Love your videos! Would you be able to share your recipe for worchestershire sauce please?
I haven't made it yet, but I'm going to use the Sally Wise one! If you just google Sally Wise Worcestershire Sauce she has it on her website :D
💕
Do you make your menus out before your haul!
Nope, it would be too hard, I buy based on what is cheap and accessible, I obviously have a fair idea of how much of everything we go through though!
Hey girl.
Do you do any popcorn for snacks?

@@Tmp130 it’s not massively expensive but not cheap either, I think it used to be, I remember it being in rotation when I was young and we definitely ate cheap cuts then!
Heh, yop, definitely a toss up!
@@OurSmallFootprint yes definitely used to be a lot cheaper - even 7 years ago Tasman meats would frequently have the legs of lamb for $6kg but now you’re lucky to get it for $12kg
@@kimsmith3265 when we lived metro I bought a lamb roast every fortnight to cook for when a friend visited, but I didn’t take much notice of the price because we were earning and it was part of the fortnightly budget kinda thing!
Wish I knew the prices per lb instead of kilo.
1 lb is .454 kilo so multiply what she says by very roughly 2
My mental maths just isn’t quite good enough! But yes as Louise said, roughly 2.2lb per kg, so like the mince is 9.99kg which works out as approx $5aud (4.53 to be exact so 5 is close enough) per lb or $3.33usd per lb at todays exchange rate :)
Thanks I have never been good with math. Lol love love love your videos
