Thank god you guys didn’t jump in that pool, who would leave these clean gorgeous beaches and jump in that filthy pool, but for sure Z is getting younger everyday 👍
Nice, soothing video. I'm glad you decided not to jump in the COVID pool too. Back here in the US, young people partying, like the ibiza party, has caused most of the COVID outbreaks recently.
That was middle March, and after that, Phi Phi was dead. No one in, and just about everyone was kicked out, so no mo parties. This was about two weeks from the hard lock down. Thailand has had about 3800 Covid Cases, and only 58 deaths. Mostly all the deaths had comorbidities. It was very interesting being in Thailand during the entire pandemic. For each person that died, the news would say who died, age, their comorbidities, and how they caught covid if known. Much different that the US. Almost everything is open here in Thailand, except for the boarders. And since the tourists can't get in, those companies that cater only to tourists are closed.
Thanks for sharing. Interesting to see the view back in March as the pandemic was beginning. Also Ouch! $50K to ship the boat? At that price I would expect same day delivery!
Yup, that's the price. You might be able to negotiate a bit with the price, but not much. They have to weld a custom cradle for each boat, and the cradle is welded to the deck of the ship. And, you will have to wait about 3 to 4 weeks to get your "shipment". On some of the ships you can ride with your yacht, but during Covid days, this option is usually not available. Cheers!
We still don't know what is to come. Things are not looking good for anyone trying to complete a circumnavigation. Hope everything starts to open up by February 1st. If not, might be more delays to cross Indian Ocean!
Back in the 70'S and the 80'S i was a Oil field diver based out of Singapore, in between job's i would sail up to Phuket during the dry season on my 36ft. Yawl, there was a small Muslim fishing village there, nothing else, i mean NOTHING else, there was a fresh water tap, where one could fill up jerry can's, nothing to buy,i.e. no store, the long tail's would bring day tripper's over for a few hour's, except for that ,no tourism, i remember one time arriving during the Bird's nest harvest,[upon entering the bay, on the port side there are caves, with long Bambo ladder's going way up into the cave's], on the beach buyer's had stands set up to purchase the Birds nest, this is BIG money, so there were armed guard's with AK47 rifles the loot, first and only time i witnessed that, on another note, i was the first [non Thai] that entered PiPi don across the way, where the film the THE BEACH was done, had to wait for a King tide to get across the sand bar, really cool anchoring in there, i expected Tarzan and Jane to come swinging down at any minute, many fond memories, back then , with out exaggeration, there were no more than a hand full of boat's in the area, i cruised both coast's from Singapore to Thailand for many year's, have many stories to tell. Happy Sailing, Doug Tiffany.
Singapore to Phuket is a tough sail these days, and most have to motor up the Malacca Strait. You really can not sail these days because 1) if you sail outside the "Highway".you will probably get caught in a fishing net, and 2) if you try to sail inside the "Highway" the big ships (and there are a lot of them) will not maneuver around you. So, if the winds are not perfect, you motor. Thanks for the comments, and Fair Winds
Two plus months and not a peep. What has happened folks, have you given up, Captain Ken did you get into trouble in Thailand . Talk to your subscribers

Sorry about that. Well the pandemic and closed borders and businesses must explain most of it. But we working on a video. Hope to release one soon.
didn't realize you were a kickboxer...
