    The priority order should be time shifting and then time scaling and time riversal
    (as time reversal is special type of time scaling time reversal should not be taken as 1st priority)

  • @memes_god_xavier

    Guys here is the solution for everyones doubt have a look 👀 :
    For a transformation equation like ( x(at + b) ), where ( a ) and ( b ) are constants:
    Scaling is represented by the ( a ) term. If ( a ) is negative, it also implies a reversal.
    Shifting is represented by the ( b ) term.
    The operations are applied as follows:
    If ( a ) is negative, the signal is first scaled and reversed simultaneously.
    Then, the signal is shifted by ( b ) units.
    So, in the case of ( x(-2t+1) ), the scaling by -2 (which includes reversal) happens first, followed by a shift of +1.
    For example, consider the transformation ( y(t) = x((t - b)/a) ), where ( a ) is the scaling factor and ( b ) is the shifting factor. Here, you would shift the signal first and then scale it.
    I think everyone get clarified from this comment . Thank you

    This problem will show that the correct priority order should be
    1st shifting 2nd reversal or scaling anyone..
    I prefer shifting then scaling then reversal..like if you agree..

    I have a doubt.......when we do time shifting by +3, graph shift towards -ve x axis, when we you do time shifting by -1 ( 4:03 ), then also graph shifts toward -ve x axis, how is this right. When we add -k to time, we should have delay, not advance, then why graph goes to left, please explain this.

  • @kanikasingla8750
    @kanikasingla8750 6 років тому +13

    Sir
    Okay, if we get the concept, the priority order is not needed. But following the order should give the correct result, right? According to this, TR should be done firstly which is giving an entire different result (MIII- TR is done at last). Exam soon. Please help!

    • @siu281
      @siu281 5 років тому +17

      You're getting a different result because you are shifting with respect to t and not -t. For example, in this problem you need to write the shifting expression as -(t-1) rather than -t+1 (because the x axis is still t and not -t. So you cannot directly shift by +1 towards the left.) Therefore the time gets shifted towards the right. You should get the correct answer once you perform time scaling after this. Hope this helps you.

    use this:
    Method I (Parenthesis method)
    Step 1: Express x(at+b) in the form x(a(t+b/a)). (note that the coefficient of ‘t’ within the parenthesis become +1)
    Step 2: Apply Scaling (and Reversal if ‘a’ negative) by the factor ‘a’
    Step 3: Apply the Time-Shift by the factor ‘b/a’
    Method II (Direct method)
    Step 1: Start with x(at+b) - (note: remove any inner parenthesis)
    Step 2: Apply the Time-Shift by the factor ‘b’
    Step 3: Apply Scaling (and Reversal, if ‘a’ negative) by the factor ‘a’

    • @alphasatari
      @alphasatari 5 років тому +2

      Ravindu Kathriarachchie Time reversal is the special case of time scaling.
      When you perform this priority order TReversal>TShifting>TScaling result will also be same.
      y(t) = x(-2t+1)
      x(t) → x(-t) Time Reversal
      x(-t) → x(-t+1) = x[-(t-1)] Time Shifting
      We have to perform time shifting with respect to “t” axis not with the “-t” axis. Hence, (t-1) will be the right shifting.

    in time scaling, a belongs to negative infinity to negative 1. -2 is covered in this case. and in previous lecture, satisfying this condition, there was no reversal in graph. so in negative cases of time scaling do we need to reverse the graph. if yes, then please modify previous lecture to avoid confusion like this.

      Khyati Bhuva The thing you’re saying is only applicable to Time Compression and Time expansion.
      Time reversal doesn’t fall in both of these categories. It’s a different case.

      yeah minus sign of time made this confusing ,here is the idea :
      by following the priority order you will first revers the plot then you got x(-t) when it comes to shifting you can not
      shift directly like this (-t+1) because you are going to shift on -t instead of t so what to do ?Take minus out to
      ) become x(-(t-1) so now you can shift in right hand because of the (t-1) I hope you got it
