the weather cards are useless , if you are playing with northern deck just play with close combat and siege units and remove the ranged cards you can hit a really high score every game that way
actually - playing close combat units in a NR deck is a bad idea. Blueberries sound sexy, but they are very vulnerable to both scorch AND villentretenmerth, and frost, which you might be playing when you are playing spies.
I am by no means a gwent master but this game didn't have to be this intense if you had played some of those cards in different orders in the last round
I don't even keep weather cards in my deck, save for only Skellige Storm and Clear Weather cards, and those are just 2 max You rarely need them actually.
At first I thought he was gonna pull a 200 iq play with the frost card and turtle his opponent to play more cards before popping the spies, but then… he just passed… you wasted a weather card and just passed… the sheer stupidity of that move gave me brain damage.
I've had a more intense game. I'd gotten myself up to 286 points in the last round, and my opponent had 94. He had 4 cards left when I passed. He ended up winning 157 to 126. It was RIDICULOUS.
Lol so you passed the last round when you only had 1 card left or I’m i missing something? You thought you would beat him with 1 card unless that card was a spy. Even a medic would do.
+Gary Bynoe Yep it is good to have one of those against Nildgaard. They have an excellent archer row but rather poor melee in their catapaults are not that great. Congrats on the win you had a shit draw and you still pulled through.
His initial draw? 2 weather cards and only 1 spy and only 1 decoy? That's terrible. For me I consider it a good draw If I get 3 spies and 2 decoys more is obviously better but I'm generally happy if I get 3 spies.
Totally unnecessary to keep so many weather cards. Only in case of Monster deck I keep a biting frost card. In place of these weather cards I get a butt load of spy cards. I use them all in the first round get several cards in return and then lose the first round. Then I kill in the next two rounds. I always play with Northern Realms and I lose about 1% of the games.
i do the inverse, playing as nilfgaard i put out big numbers round 1, pass early and hoard my spies for round two. winning r1 is important cuz the next step is to bleed their deck dry. so long as you win r1 the AI is forced to keep playing cards as long as you do. with revives and decoys you can juggle spies until their deck is super thin / empty. if it's really thin you win a short R3 with a hand of gold cards. if it's empty you win with faction ability while 0 to 0. you can use both tactics in multiplayer gwent as well. however in this version you need to win a long R1 with you both at 4 cards or less if you want to create a card gap (due to drawing 3 cards each round). although nilfgaard doesn't have their faction ability in multiplayer you can still bleed decks, even more so here with the later archetypes. you deplete their deck to 0 and inflate your own deck to 30. then play a card which draws on the difference in deck size lol
I always go for winning round 1. I put all my spies down to get their score much higher I have 2 decoys in my deck to recycle their spies as well. whatever they pass on I then beat, unless it's something stupid like 50+ and they only have 6/7 cards left then in that case, they can have round 1. R2 I either let slide or go for the kill. I play Foltest Siegemaster and use 2 x catapult (8) (tight bond) to get 64. by this point i'm on my way to winning. Failing that, playing the (8) card will draw out their scorch if it's there so I'll recover it if needed/possible with a medic and claim my 10 crown prize
they could add some gwent game on mobile phones, i think ill play it, if we can get ingame bonuses from it even better :D like gamble your own ingame gold in the mobile app...:D what do you think?
Maybe, but for monster deck I prefer to use Scorch, since many of their melee cards have 6 attack points. Decoys are useful if you got medic cards too.
if the opponent has monster and you use frost and the enemy doesnt immediatelly use his good weather card you can use the card with 7 points melee attack that kills the highest ranked unit in the opponents melee line which would kill every single one of them. so no, weather cards are VERY useful if you had only known how to use them.
The match against Sasha is truly the best one. I had to try 4 times using my full northen realms deck, she taught me how to use spies correctly (I was playing on hard gwent difficulty, and she always had fucking 4 spies and 3 decoys and 2 scorches to fuck my tight bond cards) This guy was definitely not playing on hard, because she wasn't making good use of her spies at all.
Yep once you have her card (Relentless Emyhr, lets you pillage their discards) and a half-decent Nilfgaard deck, you become essentially unstoppable in Gwent ever again. So in many ways she's the Gwent final boss.
Comments are so toxic. He doesn't have to be a Gwent Prodigy to enjoy an intense match, you don't have to go into detail on why you're better than him lol
i'm surprised he gave up on round two so quickly. you're already behind on cards you may as well try win a short round 3 with your 3 heroic cards against their 4 likely weaker cards
He passed the second round to force the opponent to begin the third round, procing his ability to draw an extra card at the start of a round he doesn't lead. That's my guess anyway
Why then decribing a low level game as intense? Gwent players expect somthing more from a game, some unusal moves, or scores than are not seen usually.
Why in the actual hell would you pass round 2 😂 you had a spy I in the discard pile you could’ve medic’d out and a bunch of hero cards, could’ve ended that easily
It reminds me of when I had a really weak Northern realms deck against a strong deck Monsters player, had only siege cards, no hero cards; they'd used their cards to get up to 244 in points, then all of the sudden Boop, Biting Frost, i win with 48 or something.
Why even keep weather cards? one of the northern realms leader card plays as a clear weather and so it can used as such. There were a few crappy cards in there as well, there is definitely room for improvement there.
No. 1:12 If you use scorch the highest card will be burned that is the spy with number 7 on his side, so it goes to his pile. Next round he can revive it with Yen. He spends two cards and gain two cards but that can be essential if he has special ability cards to draw.
You guys aren't giving OP enough credit. It's true that I am a novice at this game, both Witcher 3 and Gwent, but one thing I've noticed is that in the 50+ matches of gwent I played before finding the Bloody Baron's wife, sometimes the winning strategy means intentionally losing the 1st or 2nd round so you go forward with more cards than your opponent. It's how I won more than half my matches. My loses so far primarily came down to it being too early in the game for me to have a strong deck, but that will be fixed in time.
