the tama kit has such an enormous dynamic range. it is incredible.
You guys are killing it with your recent comparison videos. For someone like me planning ahead to my dream drum kit, it’s a great way to narrow the options. Keep up the great work!
The NC kit was my favorite. The NC kicks are always so punchy and present... and their snare drums are amazing. Loved the sound of the tops too.
It would have been nice if the NC rack tom had been suspended (since it had a RIMS mount) like the Tama so you could compare the resonance. Putting that NC tom in the snare stand just choked it.
I just realized that the Tama was the only one suspended! Clearly, the sustain off the cast mount vs. snare stand is going to sound completely different!
NC stood out to me, Looks the best as well IMO.
George Way...that kick drum...such a deep, low thump, with awesome attack and perfect decay, and its well defined! Through my headphones anyway. That whole kit is great! 👍 That NC snare is a little bit of a standout, although I liked them all. You really can't go wrong with anything here...
I'm a Ludwig and Tama guy, but I'd grab that George Way kit and snare. It has that slightly compressed sound that's a little less gated than the NC. The 14" depth bass is my favorite sound here.
The Tama kit is a Player! Take that out on tour or bars and clubs and sound amazing. Really responsive sounding...it seems like it would be dynamic and articulate, in response to how light or heavy you lay into them. NC sounds like its mixed and squashed for you already 🧘♂️🕴🥁🎶🎤🎚🎛💻💿🔊😇🤲🔊🎶👂🤌👍😄😀🕴💯
Best snare drum was the noble & cooley, overall best was the TAMA kit
That Tama sounds amazing! With the back-to-back at the end though, I think a winning combo would be the toms from the Tama with the kick from the Noble & Cooley - that kick has so much weight to it!
Superb job once again fellows! DCP has set the new standard for drum demo videos! Those kits look and sound gorgeous but I get equally excited about the Paistes. Their shimmering eloquence compliments the deep and dark walnut shells beautifully!
Thanks Jan! I agree, the cymbals are pretty special too!
@@drumcenternh I just love Paiste cymbals, even the lower-priced series. Sabian, Meinl, and Zildjian can't even come close to matching the sounds and prices of the budget Paiste cymbals. In my...uhh..."humble" opinion. ;-)
NC was the only set that didnt sound boxy, clear and highest quality
TAMA , that’s why I own one!
The Noble & Cooley bass drum sounds phat 😮
You can't go wrong with walnut. IMHO walnut is THE BEST wood for drums. I have a Tama Star Walnut in Cinnamon Chestnut and it's the best sounding kit I've ever played!
Cinnamon chestnut that looks delicious ;) Walnut all day ;)
All great kits...The NC stands out the most to me...
I've got an 8 piece star walnut, it's like being in another world playing them, the sound and the beauty, and the tom mounts are the best. Period. I've had many different sets, but these are by far the best. And they look better than the other star models because they don't have the inlay. Really let's the finish on the sen show.
Regardless, the only set that sounded better to me was the Japanese Starclassic maple, but its made in China now, so Star walnut was the first choice.
8 piece?!! What sizes if I may ask?
I liked the Noble & Cooley kit the best, but the Tama was a pretty close second. You can't go wrong with either one. The George Way kit wasn't in the same ballpark as the other two. It's a good kit, and the aesthetic was fantastic, but it just lacked the depth and richness of tone that the other two had.
All three are amazing sonically, but the George way spoke to me more, those toms...
Tama all day
Andy Ham I would choose Tama over any drums
I really Love Your Videos & I Watch Them Like 3 to 5 Times; Specially Reviews & Comparisons. Keep Up Doing Them, Thanks A Lot!
Geo sounded amazing
Is it me or do all the snares in this video sound incredible. Yes, the kits are exceptional, too.
All great. Noble gets the nod for my ears.
The George Way is amazing. I wish it didn't look like a grandpa's coffee table.
The Way kit is out of its league. I’m admittedly biased as the owner of an incredible Star Japanese sen indigo burst kit. With clear tom batters, a marked improvement over what you’re earing here, my kit just sounds as good as any ply kit I’ve ever heard or played. Props to that Noble and Cooley though. That kit is every bit as stellar and the company’s rep for craftsmanship is well earned. Terrific video fellas!
Rich Boshart wrong I've got a Tama bubinga kit they are great. Go look at Carter Mclean videos. George Way kits are some of the best kits on the planet. It's all about the heads and tunings.
I just bought the George Way from DCP, along with the walnut snare. The heads do make a huge difference. I don't like the resotone heads that are on them stock.
The GW is fantastic if you want rock solid construction with a vintage vibe, and to me it's the prettiest.
Love these comparisons,,,,,, Nothing even comes close to the great sound of those Tama stars
well to my ears the GW kit wins by miles.. I played them both.. Star is the best kit Tama has done in a long time.. but the GW kit has a whole different wibe and soul..
That Tama kit...holy sheee-it! So amazing!
Great concept. Love the shoot-outs.
George all the way , at least for my taste😋
What's cool is they are 100% Chinese made by a Contractor !! Cheers !
still the best.. China makes a lot of the top drum brands today..
@@jaylee8703 and Ronn Dunnett still says "made in Canada" lol
Great comparison. I would be happy with any of these drums. And those cymbals, wow. I might have to switch to Paiste one of these days.
N&C...by far...the tone on those toms is incredible and the snare is just as perfect as it gets.
Tama Star - Amazing
dream kit for me.
The Tama kit is really nice!!
Tama, all the time- My Star Walnut is the best instrument I've ever experienced.
Tama kit, with a NC snare would be amazing. But, NC and Tama both were amazing sounding.
Geo Way set plus 14x7 Noble & Cooley!
O yeah you're right! But if I had to choose from the drums in the video, well you read my answer. I own a DS rebel kit, I love it! I got two.
Tama-san, grasshopper.. konichiwa...However, I think the other two kits should have had their toms mounted on a tom holder like the Tama. Snare stands tend to slightly kill the tonality of the shells. I've heard Noble & Cooley kits resonate for days, but not in this video. Thanks for all the hard work and time you put into making your videos , which btw, are the best sounding out there, imho. Cheers !
Again Thank You Tony I actually found my ears leaning towards the TAMA STAR WALNUT 😱
Great video.Tama for me!
Tama kit with the N&C snare - Killer!!!
Great video! I love these comparisons. So useful. They all sounded beautiful but that noble and cooley is sexual chocolate! 😎
Noble and Cooley for the win !
I like the inner ply finish on the tama over the outer charcoal color. The N&C have the nicest finish.
Thank You Tony so much now I am all messed up over Maple vs Walnut🤪🤓
I've worked in a drum shop and can confirm that you have all the time in the world to do this kind of thing! I thought I was going to like the Noble and cooley kit but I really liked the brightness of the George way. I think that would record really well. But does that mean I would buy one? You just tend to love a brand don't you?
I'm torn between the N&C and the Tama. I just need 5 grand. Someone hook a brother up, ha!
I can't decide? Guess I'll have to take them all! 🙂
The only logical solution. :)
George Way for my (vintage) taste! xx
Noble & Cooley:)
The George Way drums sounded fuller. That Noble & Cooley tom really suffered from being mounted on a snare stand.
Tama all day and twice on Sundays.
I think your videos are the best! Are you guys using gates on the toms?
Yes, there is some gating on the toms.
Tama all day.
George Way vintage vibe sound
Great job once again. All three sets sound fantastic it sounds to me that the rack Tom on the noble is a little choked.
scsdrummer because it sits an a snare stand 😘
Yeah, we definitely should have used the proper rack mount. Next time. 😑
Can't go wrong with TAMA
I know there’s absolutely no point in doing it, but I’d love to hear a comparison of the old yammy absolutes vs the new Chinese made ones. As an avid collector of the sakae made kits (as they’re the best sounding drums I’ve come across) I’d love to know what the difference is, if any between the new hybrids.
Thanks for the great entertainment! 👏🏻
They all sound killer but the way I play the George Ways would suit me best as they have that resonant round sound with a note (more musical to me) similar to my Gretsch which are my favorite drums ever made!
Been wanting a tama. Starclassic but the Noble and Cooley. Would be very nice. You may send me one of those.
He brought up the noble mounting system but not tama’s? Tama’s is the best in the business by far imo. The quick lock brackets on the racks and floor Tom legs along with the air cushioned floor tom legs and free floating on the star cast mount is just a game changer and best mounting system and just so handy if your a gigging drummer who sets up and breaks down fast but wants the exact same setup every time. I don’t have the star drums wish I did but I have the Tama starclassic B.B. which also comes with the quick locks and it’s absolutely amazing
Totally agree, the Tama brackets are awesome!
Tama's mounts and brackets are too good but people are so familiar with them that they get taken for granted IMO.
They make the drum sound great. Just wish they could figure out a way to do it w/o putting extra holes in their hoops.
Adam Frost I’ll take extra holes in the hoops over mounting off the tension rods!
Roman Garcia Opinions are good.
(For me) its the tama all day
George Way all the Way, but the Bass Drum sounds stifled (batter Head) ? mine is so punchy and smooth.
"the walnut groove " (ch. ingalls)
Tama wins HANDS DOWN!!
Tama kit definitely... but all three snares were incredible! I seriously wished that yall wouldve suspended the rack tom instead of killing the sustain in a snare stand.
Noble and Cooley best tone.
Tama.
Nice
Of course they are gonna sound different if they have different heads. Heads have way more influence on a drum's sound than the shell.
This definitely wasn't meant to be a head to head comparison, it was more just to show 3 different approaches to building a walnut kit.
Noble and Cooley by a mile
TAMA! TAMA! Oh ya I was going to say TAMA
Just by sustain alone. And thousands less!
Noble and Cooley kick with Tama toms
Please do a vs of Tama Hyperdrive - Superstar Classic - and Starclassic.
XcluZiveBeats I'll give you a hint....the starclassic will sounder bigger and better.
birch drummer lol. I still would like to see them go head to head. I preordered the Superstar Classic it’s been months and I still haven’t gotten it. It sounds amazing for the price.
on the tama website it says the shells are 6mm and bas 7mm
I love George way, but the Nobel and Cooley wins!!!!
I prefer the Tama sound, however, the dry sound of the Noble and Cooley can be useful in many rooms.
Thought GW had the most character...single center lug just sound different. Those hoops are great. Tama have a perfection...maybe too much. NB 45 edges and triple flange just change it entirely. The horizons have a ton of range.
Tama send them home!
I'm a Tama guy but N&C the best here. It must have to do with the way the plies are facing.
I give slight edge to Noble and Cooley, then Tama and Way.
Tony is that you from GCC?
Unbury the beater!
Tama all the way.
TAMA!!!!
Kick = TAMA
Tom = George Way
FT = Noble & Cooley
Nah listen closely tama's floor is way better. Tama wins on each drum
Practice you guys!
Bass drum of George way is the best among the three.
TT and FT from Tama and BD From George Way
That tama star floor tom sounds miles deeper than the other 2 drums even though they're deeper. Bass drum sounds killer as well. N&C is a close second, but the kits as a whole i think the star kit absolutely DESTROYS the other 2 kits.
I totally agree! That Tama floor tom is boomier than the bass drum, even. Just a fantastic kit all around.
The last 2 kits sound dead on the rack tom. Maybe because of the snare stand that's holding them? Hardly any sustain!
tama!!
Walnut is why I love my Saturns so much. Granted their not in the same league as these beauties, but they’re still pretty sweet.
Tama by far.
😃
Most impressed by the Way. Toms sound off on Tama, sustain too short on NC. Not a fan of walnut anyway, but cool vid. I wish youd have a "switch" over the same beat to hear the differences better, instead of all the talking.
N&C wins for me. That Tama is seems really popular in the comments and i don't HEAR why.
TAMA HANDS DOWN....
The N&C is the best looking and most elegant. The Tama is the best deal. I would never buy Way drums as they are Ron Dunnett's company.
Tama Is left behind by the other two kits which give that vintage modern sound of these days.
Tama kit just sounds better. all those people saying cooley sounds better are dreaming
Not a realistic comparison, IMO, because the Tama set was played employing the suspension system on the mounted tom, while the GWay and the N&C set were placed in a snare stand with no isolation measures employed. One can clearly hear the Way and the N&C mounted toms choke out due to the snare stand mounting set up.
The George Way drum is meant to be on a snare stand, because it has no suspension mount.
Maybe so, but still not an equitable comparison. Either all 3 drums should be in a snare stand, or all 3 drums should be suspended/isolated.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
