    What a terrific mod, John! I never would have tried this. Too bad the actual delay is then gone...the delays are awesome in the THR. Killer trick man!
    What I discoved was a cool trick with the phaser on the THR10X. If you set the phaser like this: speed - 5.5, manual - 9.1, depth - 0.0, feedback 0.0, the amp then gets a gigantically thick, lower mid, super aggressive tone. It also gives the amp way more bottom end & removes the shrill top end. I use this trick on all of my distorted patches. And there is no actual phaser sound to be heard - it just makes the amp sound REAL.
    Search: "Yamaha THR10X Tips & Tricks" to hear/see it in action.
    I fully intend on trying your trick in a few hours. Great videos, John!

    Recap: Connect computer to THR, open THR Editor application then: 1. Select a channel (clean, crunch, lead etc.), 2. Change cabinet to American 4X12, 3. Turn on DELAY (leave all others off for now), 4. Set delay setting to: Time 0.1, feedback 3.0, High Cut 4595Hz, Low Cut 64Hz, level 7.2

    You are a tone master!And I....am not worthy.seriously though thank you so much.I was considering one of these for busking so I don’t have to lug around a gasoline generator to get a good tone.thank you for solving this delimma for me.I am literally amazed at the tones you are getting.

    Thank you for the time and effort to put these patches together. I thought the THR sounded great before, but your tweaks bump it up another level. Always great to learn something new as well. Yamaha should throw some free gear your way at least !

      Great! it works with any modeler with delay filters. I use it with Avid Eleven in pro tools, and have used it for years in the studio.

    It sounds so warm and full. I’m still wondering. If I store my rhythm sound and solo sound on channel 1 and 2 complete with the high and low cut filter to give them the warm full vibe. If I use my 80s /def leppard type chorus /delay settings on channels 3 4 and 5 . When I switch back to channel 1 and 2 will it have knocked out the warm full effect so that I have to go back to the computer and redial in the hi and low cut.
    It would be cool if the warm sound could be retained in stored channels after using other channels with delay.
    Best regards . . Paul

    Saw this the day after I bought a 10c =( hopefully I can make it work with tape delay. could I do this with a delay pedal in front of the amp?

    What is it like with the THR10's tone controls centered? You have Bass on 0, Mid on half, Treble on 10. My THR10 sounds awful with bass on 0 and treble on 10 too.

    Hi! Great sound , did you use the same preset of your previous video about thr10?

    • @PewPewDevices
      @PewPewDevices  7 років тому +2

      ricoxufr it's not a preset, it's just whatever I dialed in at the time. Plexi with mid level gain I think.

    Was the amp at full volume while recording? The strumming noise seems quite loud compared to the amps volume...

    John, can the filter trick work on the reverb so you can use the delay?

    • @PewPewDevices
      @PewPewDevices  7 років тому

      GmanMusicProductions No, unfortunately. The natural swell charachtaristics of reverbs in general mean you loose all the attack.

    • @GmanMusicProductions
      @GmanMusicProductions 7 років тому

      Too bad, but thanks for that tip! It really makes a BIG difference on my 10x. I set my filter around 90Hz-4500Hz level @10.

  • @briandress2448
    @briandress2448 7 років тому

    This only can work on presets right? As soon as you turn the dials it goes back to hall or spring reverb right?

    • @briandress2448
      @briandress2448 7 років тому

      Or standard delays not filter

    • @PewPewDevices
      @PewPewDevices  7 років тому

      Brian Dress ,if you store the patch with the delay set on one of the reverb settings, it won't effect the filtered sound when you move it. As soon as you pass the delay section it will switch the filter off.

    Hi John. I'm regarding to buy myself a THR10 soon.
    I live in France and it's hard to find/test one in a shop. So, I checked some vids and found yours which is really great. I used a lot of amps (VHT, Roadster, Mark V, 5150, Triaxis, Ada Mp1, JCM etc...) and sim (Voodoo Valve, boss, Line 6, IR etc...) etc... Ad this amp looks/sounds like a good thing for home, practice and some rec.
    Here are my questions :
    I see you adjust the setting on the software (Of the THR I think) so, if you store your sound, I wondered if the THR10 would keep the sound with the filter without being connected to the computer ? I mean, can I have this good low ends and dynamics (that I hear when you put the filter on) just by playing on the THR10 after put it on ? (I know I have to build the sound on the PC first...)
    Thanx for your vid and tricks.

      Mr Zapapate Hi! Yes, if you store a filtered sound in any of the units 5 banks it will remain in the unit. These sounds are no different to any other patches.😀

      I have this amp and it is utterly brilliant as is the Editor which thanks to your posting is even more incredible. That said (not sure if you are aware) but you can actually get a fully compatible foot pedal to access and operate all the presets stored in the Yamaha Editor library .The pedal can also be paint matched to the specific Yamaha amp mode I have researched the company that produces them and they have excellent feedback and service. Just to clarify, I have no personal connection with the company - I'm just a fan of the amp, a keen beginner and since you freely provided your time and information - it is the least I can do to share what I found to online. Right now - I am waiting for version 2 to be released (which is imminent) as it will include an alphabetic display (as opposed to current which is numerical) - so for example it would show 001 Hendrix / 002 UFO and so on. Here is the site: patchbox68.com/

      I just bought 10C and was little bit sad about this too. Tempted to get vanilla THR because of this. But you can achieve similar results with tape echo. Just set time to minimum, depth to 2 and mix at 7,5 and here we go. You can experiment with the depth and mix. And I also get some tone improvements applying same principle to the chorus. Let us know your thoughts. The trick with compressor is also great. Thanks John for this!

      Sorry for this question, but I'm planning buying a THR10c and I see the tape echo settings are "time, feedback and level'. When you said you can achieve similar results with tape echo, didn't you mean some other effect? Thanks!
