  • Royal Enfield has finally launched the Hunter 350, the brand’s first ever street-oriented naked. The third bike based on the J-Series Platform, the Hunter 350 shares it’s engine with the Meteor 350 and Classic 350 - which makes identical performance figures. However, it boasts brand new, modern underpinnings, such as 17-inch tyres front and rear, a redesigned frame, and as mentioned, the lightest kerb weight of any Royal Enfield bike till date.
So would you choose this over rivals like the Honda CB350 H’Ness or CB350RS? Tell us in the comments.

Royal Enfield has launched the Hunter 350 at Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai), making it the most affordable RE bike on the new J-platform. The higher-spec Metro variant costs Rs 1.64 lakh, gets alloy wheels, dual-channel ABS and more youthful colours. Head over to zigwheels.com to know all about the youthful roadster.

This looks a lot better than the classic. I am 47 years old and still prefer the Hunter over the classic. Have been looking for this kind of accessible bike for quite some time. I ride a 390 Duke. A bike has to be like reach for the keys start and go. The same cannot be said for a Himalayan. Just the mere thought of muscling out the heavy thing out of the parking lot will make you reach out for the scooter keys. But look at the Hunter you would want to reach out for its keys even though you have no reason to ride. That's what I mean by accessibility; not having a small engine or zero zilch and nothing on features. RE had nailed it with this one. My money on the table.

I love my J Classic 350 but I’m 66 years old. This gorgeous bike looks like it’s from this century and will appeal to riders born (reborn) in this century. The 17” wheels will make it feel much sportier as well. And the graphics are pure Royal Enfield. They aren’t trying to look like everyone else.
I think they have another hit!

TOTALLY, Dan! I like the mid-late 70s, standard aesthetic of the Hunter 350. It looks like motorcycles I remember from and lusted after during my high school days. I like the Classic 350 too. Oh, did I tell you that I own a Meteor 350? Now, with the Hunter 350 coming to the US next year, the question becomes: which bike do I get to keep my Meteor 350 company?

Was tracking this bike for the last 10 months. Seeing it now feels worth the wait. RE is targeting youths who want that feel of authentic biking along with modern retro looks. Personally i will be very happy taking this to college than some 150 200 cc overpriced bike that all feels the same in the name of refinement , no soul no character nothing. Classic becomes too big and retro for youths and meteor is not for daily city driving , it's more suited for highways. This sits in the perfect ballpark for youths who want that 350 cc gem feel. Only led headlights on higher trims would have been cherry on top but it is what it is. Kudos RE for bringing this to life 👏.

As long as they don’t get carried away by the social media buzz around it and mess up with the pricing, this one is another game changer from RE. All the positives of RE, minus the negative: weight. 350cc is fine. Any lesser, and the unique cool sexy RE character will dilute. I guess even technically there’ll be challenges like not getting the perfect sound with lower cc. I like the red&black, but feel the design could have been even better. Hoping it has a light clutch. Looks like I’ll be getting back to motorcycling after 15 years 😎

For the customer segment they're targeting, I believe a smaller engine and sub 150k price would have been perfect. I wonder who'd want to buy this if they know they can upgrade to a Classic by adding another 10 or 20k, or got to, let's say, a Pulsar by paying 20 to 30k less.

Viewing from the UK here. I've been riding 600-1000cc sports touring and adventure bikes for the past few years and I've always found the Royal Enfield revival bikes interesting. The medium displacement single cylinder engines sound great but the Meteor and Classic 350 didn't appeal to me looks wise with the single and split seats and relatively forward pegs. I think this bike is more in line with 80s and 90s Japanese bikes like the Honda CB250, 400 and 500 and that very much appeals to me. I'm also fairly tall and having a long seat to stretch out on is important to me! Hope this appears in the UK, I'd be surprised if we get the drum brake version but the top spec one really appeals, the weight saving especially over the other models is a big win!

    • @LeytonC
      @LeytonC 2 роки тому

We wont get drum brakes here, it will have to be Euro V and have ABS, so it will be disks at both ends. I love small displacement bikes, so I really want to take a look at one.

It looks spot on. Especially the lines of the exhaust. 👍
The black fork sleeves and gaiters help to beef up the looks as well.
I reckon that'll sell well in all markets.
The Meteor and Classic 350 are flying out the doors of dealerships here in the UK.
Some buyers are getting them as an everyday bike and keeping their big bikes for the weekend, but there are a lot of riders downsizing from larger bikes because of the fuel prices, congestion and reduced speed limits here.

While the J-Series engine is a gem and I love how the Royal Enfield bikes look, I never liked their top heavy feeling and those extra dash of chrome elements on their bikes. Rivals like Honda CB350RS, Jawa 42, the Yezdi Roadster or even the 205kg Benelli Imperiale has a better centre of gravity and weight distribution than Classic 350 or Meteor. If the weight distribution of Hunter 350 is anything like the rival bikes, it would be the best 350cc bike from Royal Enfield.

I think Enfield wants to be the brand which people go to when they want to upgrade to a sorted, decently powered motorcycle which they'll hold onto for a long time. Plus, having something like a 250 would eat their own 350 engines market.

This looks like classic 350 started working out, got a lean mass body and started wearing denim and rounded neck T shirts. I own a 1983 bullet and this one is my favourite design from enfield so far. All the while they say this is to hunt for a new target audience, I believe this is going to woo a lot of them who were hesitant to get into the RE world because of the RE looks. This doesn't look like an RE, this looks like an approachable 'triumph street twin'. You like the style, it's not as small as a 150 yet you're not scared of a big engine. If they launch a more refined style of this one with 650, in two years, everyone who bought a hunter would upgrade to that one as they become seasoned riders

With the present day fuel prices, efficiency pays a huge role. And a claimed mileage of 36kmpl is too low for anyone who is looking for a less expensive Royal Enfield.
I do hope RE comes with an electric version as soon as possible. That would be awesome.

Can not agree more to the fact they wanted appeal to young buyers who might have considered 250 considering the maintenance and fuel prices while keeping the motorcycle cheaper by say 15-20K going head on with the base variants from other manufacturers. The seating is sporty the concern is with the pillion comfort. With the rear set foot rest the pillion sets are further back so occasional long rides with pillion well you might be able to answer this in your review. Over-all the product looks and feel promising. The only issue I've faced with the RE bikes is heavier clutch do put some lights on that as well maybe a slipper clutch would have made more sense with a 250cc maybe? But maybe royal enfield knows it's more about aspirational value associated with brand and not the fuel efficiency mixed option.
